Leek Wootton

The Wootton bridge collapse occurred on 11 June 1861, when the rail bridge over the road between Leek Wootton and Hill Wootton in Warwickshire collapsed under the weight of a passing goods train on the line between Leamington Spa and Kenilworth owned by the London and North Western Railway Company. The train had passed over the bridge safely in the morning with a full load of coal, and was returning to Kenilworth with the empty wagons at 7 am. The 30 ton locomotive fell through the deck of the bridge onto the road below, and the tender crashed into the cab, killing both driver and fireman instantly. Many of the empty wagons behind were dragged into the gap to form a pile almost up to the height of nearby telegraph poles.

Leek Wootton & Guy's Cliffe is a civil parish in the Warwick District of Warwickshire, England. It was created when the smallest parish in England, Guy's Cliffe, was merged with Leek Wootton on 1 April 1986, and includes the hamlets of Hill Wootton, Chesford, Goodrest and North and Middle Woodloes, located between the towns of Kenilworth and Warwick. It is part of the constituency of Kenilworth and Southam. The parish covers 1,391 hectares and has a population of approximately 1,100., being measured as 1,017 at the 2011 census.Warwick District Council "made" (adopted) Leek Wootton & Guy's Cliffe Parish Council's Neighbourhood Development Plan on 4 May 2018, following the plan being endorsed by more than the required threshold in a referendum held on 3 May 2018.

The Warwick International School of Riding is a school of equitation (horsemanship), located just north of Warwick, Warwickshire, England. The school caters to an international clientele of riders in the disciplines of show jumping, cross-country, hacking and general riding. It accommodates both disabled and able-bodied riders and has facilities for people to stay during riding vacations. Founded in the early 1970s by Janet Martinez, the Warwick School of Riding started off with just three horses. as of 2010, the school has over 40 horses and acres of land to ride and jump. The school appeared on Keeping Up Appearances (in the episode "Please Mind Your Head"), where Hyacinth decides to visit the country and ends up on a runaway horse.The school has also run a jousting course, for Middle Ages recreations groups.

The Saxon Mill is a former mill at Guy's Cliffe, Warwickshire, England, situated about one mile northeast of the town of Warwick. It is now a restaurant and bar. It is on the River Avon and it has a water wheel, although a larger waterwheel has gone.

In 1961 the parish had a population of 2.

Warwick Rural District was a rural district of Warwickshire, England. It was created in 1894, and covered an area around, but not including, Warwick. It expanded in 1932 with the abolition of Foleshill Rural District and Solihull Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, merging with Warwick, Leamington Spa, and Kenilworth to form the modern non-metropolitan district of Warwick.

Kenilworth railway station is a railway station in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England on the Coventry to Leamington Line. The original Kenilworth station opened in 1844 before being rebuilt in 1884 and closed in 1965. In 2013 it was announced that the station would reopen in 2016. That was revised several times, but the station finally reopened on 30 April 2018.

Kenilworth ( KEN-il-wərth) is a market town and civil parish in the Warwick District in Warwickshire, England, 6 miles (10 km) south-west of Coventry, 5 miles (8 km) north of Warwick and 90 miles (140 km) north-west of London. It lies on Finham Brook, a tributary of the River Sowe, which joins the River Avon 2 miles (3 km) north-east of the town. At the 2021 Census, the population was 22,538. The town is home to the ruins of Kenilworth Castle and Kenilworth Abbey.

Abbey Fields is a 68-acre (28 ha) park that is found in the centre of Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England. The park was once farmland belonging to St Mary's Abbey, which was dissolved in the middle of the sixteenth century and is now ruined. St Nicholas Church, with origins from the twelfth century, remains in the park. The park is now maintained by Warwick District Council and has a leisure-centre complex which includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, five tennis courts and a large play area for children. Other features of the park include a cafe, the town's war memorial, and a museum charting the history of the abbey, located in the old barn. As well as these manmade attractions, there is to be found a natural lake and Finham Brook, a tributary of the River Sowe. The volunteer-run organisation Friends of Abbey Fields works with the district council to maintain the park. As the largest park in the town, it hosts a number of well-known events each year, such as the Lions Club show, the town carnival, bonfire night events and the Boxing Day charity duck race. It is also an orienteering venue used by the Midlands club Octavian Droobers.
