Westhill Senior High School is a public high school located in the western suburbs of, and immediately adjacent to, the City of Syracuse, New York. It serves grades 9 through 12, primarily from the neighborhood of Westvale (located in the Town of Geddes), as well as portions of the Onondaga Hill area (located in the Town of Onondaga). Westhill Senior High School is part of the Westhill Central School District.

The Westcott Reservoir was an open 110-million-US-gallon (420,000 m3) reservoir that has since been replaced by twin 32 million gallon tanks, serving the City of Syracuse, New York. The reservoir's location was originally outside the city limits but a shoestring annexation extended the city border to include it. A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant in 2005 was to replace the deteriorated Hypalon lining; as of October 2005 the reservoir stood empty.

The James Pass Arboretum was established by the City of Syracuse, New York through the philanthropy of Adelaide Salisbury Pass and family with the guidance and cooperation of the State College of Forestry (now SUNY-ESF) to be a classic arboretum in the tradition of the Arnold Arboretum in Boston, Massachusetts, that is, a museum of woody plants designed for education and horticultural display.

Burnet Park is the largest park in Syracuse, New York, USA, covering an area of 88 acres (36 ha). It is located on the west end of the city, in the Far Westside in a neighborhood called Tipperary Hill.

Westvale is a suburban community (and census-designated place) in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 4,963 at the 2010 census. Westvale is in the town of Geddes, lying east of Fairmount and southwest of Solvay. Westvale is a suburb of Syracuse, which is to the east.

Skunk City is a Syracuse, New York neighborhood that for a number of years has been known by this name, and before 1886 was a rural part of the Town of Geddes. The neighborhood boundaries are Geddes St. on the east, Grand Ave. and Burnet Park on the north, and West Onondaga St. on the south. Harbor Brook Retention area is to the west. The neighborhood owes its name to the unusually high number of skunks that roam the area at night.

Tipperary Hill, sometimes known as Tipp Hill, is a district in the city of Syracuse, New York. It is largely settled by immigrants from Ireland, especially from County Tipperary. It makes up half of Syracuse's Far Westside neighborhood.

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is an AZA (Association of Zoos & Aquariums) zoo in Syracuse, New York. It is owned and operated by Onondaga County Parks with support from the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The zoo is home to more than 900 animals representing 216 species on 43 acres (17 ha). Some of the more popular animals include Asian elephants, Humboldt penguins, Amur tigers, a Komodo dragon and the only Giant Pacific octopus exhibit in Central New York. The zoo opened a new Animal Health Center in 2022 that is the largest zoological medical center in New York state outside of the Bronx Zoo. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo has been a continuously accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1987.

The Syracuse Far Westside is one of 26 neighborhoods recognized by the City of Syracuse, New York. Until this area joined the city in 1886 it was known as the Village of Geddes.

Woodland Reservoir is a 121-million-US-gallon (460,000 m3) reservoir serving the city of Syracuse, New York. The reservoir was built in the 1890s as the receiving end of the new water supply for Syracuse coming by a 19 miles (31 km) pipeline from the Skaneateles Lake. It was designated an American Water Landmark in 1977.
