UPMC Harrisburg is a 409-bed urban hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) system. The hospital is a teaching facility providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. Specialties include women's health, cardiovascular care and orthopedic, stroke, and rehabilitative services. Physician residency programs exist on-site for family practice, internal medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedic surgery, and general surgery.In November 2020 UPMC announced the opening of the new pediatric unit at UPMC Harrisburg. The new unit was opened in partnership with the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and consist of 26-pediatric-beds. The unit treats infants, children, teens, and young adults age 0-21. The unit is named "UPMC Children’s Harrisburg" and features telemedicine connections to the main hospital in Pittsburgh.In May 2021 UPMC announced the renaming of UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg to UPMC Harrisburg, effective May 24.

The Simon Cameron House, also known as John Harris Mansion and the Harris–Cameron Mansion, is a historic house museum at 219 South Front Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Built in 1766 and frequently extended and altered, it is one of Harrisburg's oldest buildings, and is nationally notable as the summer residence of Simon Cameron (1799–1889), an influential Republican Party politician during and after the American Civil War. The house and family items were donated to the Historical Society of Dauphin County in 1941, which now operates it as a museum. The mansion was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1975, and is located in the Harrisburg Historic District.

The Dauphin County Law Library was established by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1865 and has been housed in its present location at the Dauphin County Courthouse in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Law Library now has approximately 35,000 volumes, down from the 47,000. These volumes focus on statute and case law for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Federal Courts. The Library houses all of the published opinions of judges in each county. The legal periodical of Dauphin County is the called the Dauphin County Reporter and it includes opinions from eight judges. The Law Library is open to the public.

Salem United Church of Christ, formerly known as Old Salem Reformed Church, is a historic Reformed church at 231 Chestnut Street in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The church was built in 1821–1822, and is a two-story brick building in a Classical style. It features a large square bell tower topped by a domed cupola. The tower is flanked by two, three-story towers with stepped gables. A two-story, Sunday school annex was built to the rear of the church in 1862.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Camp Curtin Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, also known as Curtin Heights Church and Camp Curtin Memorial-Mitchell United Methodist Church, is a historic Methodist Episcopal church located in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. The Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church announced plans, in December 2018, to consolidate or sell roughly 10 churches in the greater Harrisburg area. In February 2021, newspapers reported that Camp Curtin Memorial-Mitchell United Methodist Church would be sold "to a church off of the west coast that is buying it as a church for veterans," and that "a veterans' ministry" would be established at the historic church; however, the realtor involved in the transaction reported a month later that the church was "back on the market" because the deal had fallen through. News accounts at the time noted that the realtor's most recent listing stated that the "15,852-square-foot property [was] listed for $155K," and that the church was] zoned 'commercial neighborhood,' which provides the possibility of a number of uses for the property."

Harrisburg Historic District is a national historic district located at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 340 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in a 19th-century residential area of Harrisburg. It contains the original core of the city. Located in the district is Harris Park, which unifies the district. Notable buildings include the Y.M.C.A. (1932), William Maclay Mansion (1792), Grace Methodist Church (1871), St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral (1826), St. Michael's Lutheran Church (1906), Cathedral of Saint Patrick (1907) and the Unit Row Houses. The John Harris Mansion is located in the district and listed separately.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Dauphin County Courthouse is a government building of Dauphin County located in the county seat, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 2, 1993.

Downtown Harrisburg is the central core neighborhood, business and government center which surrounds the focal point of Market Square, and serves as the regional center for the greater metropolitan area of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. Harrisburg's downtown Center City comprises the original 80-acre (320,000 m2) borough laid out in a grid pattern by John Harris in 1785. East–west streets are named and north–south streets are numbered. Market Street, running east–west, is the dividing point between north and south street designations.Harrisburg's Central Business District includes the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex and other state government offices, the Dauphin County Courthouse and other county government offices, City of Harrisburg offices, Pennsylvania State Museum, federal government offices, and other, non-government related commercial retail and office development. Some residential development, both in apartment high-rises and in the upper floors of mixed commercial/residential use buildings, is also located in the downtown area. Downtown is bordered in the northwest by the mixed commercial/residential use Capitol District, in the west by the Susquehanna River, in the southwest by the largely residential Shipoke neighborhood, in the south by Interstate 83, in the east by Amtrak and Norfolk Southern Railway lines, and in the north by Midtown Harrisburg, a mixed-use commercial and residential neighborhood. Forster Street is usually considered the boundary between Downtown and Midtown Harrisburg. City Island, located in the middle of the Susquehanna River directly west of downtown, is typically considered part of Downtown Harrisburg.

Harrisburg's Market Square is located in Downtown Harrisburg at the intersection of 2nd and Market Streets. The square was created in 1785. Since then, it has traditionally been the navigational center of the city, and since the 1980s has undergone a revival with several new commercial, residential and retail spaces either planned or built. Market Square serves as a hub for Capital Area Transit (CAT) buses. It is one block from Riverfront Park and the Market Street Bridge, which crosses over the Susquehanna River.

Keystone Building is a historic commercial building located at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1875 as the State Printing Office. It is a six-story office building, plus basement, 7 bays wide and 12 bays deep. It is faced in granite on the first floor, with brick above. It was remodeled in 1917, with the addition of a structural steel frame and 12-inch reinforced floors.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.This building is not to be confused with the Commonwealth Keystone Building, a nearby State Government office building completed in 2000.

Old Downtown Harrisburg Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 50 contributing buildings in the old central business district of Harrisburg and dating from the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Notable buildings include the Daily and Weekly Telegraph Building (1873-1874), City Bank Building (c. 1872), F.W. Woolworth (1939), Rothert's Furniture Store (1906), Bowman's Department Store (1907, 1910), Pomeroy's Department Store (c. 1890, c. 1940), and Doutrich's Clothing Store. Located in the district and listed separately are the Colonial Theatre, Keystone Building, Kunkel Building, and the William Seel Building. The Telegraph Building was delisted after having been demolished. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, with a boundary increase in 1984.

SciTech Campus of Harrisburg High school, located in downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a regional math and science public school that attracts students from Harrisburg and neighboring school districts. Beginning with the 9th grade, SciTech Campus prepares students for a university curriculum, studying toward degrees in science, engineering and technology. Enrollment is limited to 400 pupils The opportunity to create a unified 9-16 curriculum is unique in the nation and represents a potentially replicable approach to bridging the frequent discontinuity between high school and higher education. The school is a federally designated Title I school. It opened in September 2003. In 2011, the Harrisburg City School District Board changed the name of the school to Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus. Prior the name was Scitech High.In 2013, Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus' enrollment was reported as 366 pupils in 9th through 12th grades.
