Colchester Crutched Friary was a friary in Colchester, in the county of Essex, England. The house was founded in 1235, the friary was dissolved in 1538 and the site was discovered in 1928 when pottery was found when 44 Crouch Street was being demolished.

It is also a scheduled monument as it is in a late Iron Age site and Roman Camulodunum.The site has diverse habitats of grassland, woods, hedges, scrub, ponds, and marsh. The grassland is grazed by rabbits, and invertebrates include minotaur beetles and beewolf wasps. The woodland is mainly oak, ash and hawthorn, and the pond banks have reedmace and reed sweet-grass.There is access from Sussex Road.

It makes up the Air Assault Task Force, a battlegroup held at high readiness, and is the only brigade in the British Army focused on operating via parachute, helicopter and air-landing.

Balkerne Gate is a Roman gateway in Colchester (the former Camulodunum). It is the largest surviving gateway in Roman Britain and was built where the Roman road from Londinium intersected the town wall of Camulodunum. It is a scheduled monument and a Grade I listed building.

The Colchester Arts Centre, is an arts centre in Colchester, Essex, which is located in a former Church of England parish church, the church of Saint Mary-at-the-Walls, a name derived from its proximity to the Roman town walls. The church may have had Anglo-Saxon origins but was first mentioned in the early 13th century. The building was badly damaged during the English Civil War and was fully rebuilt twice in the 18th and 19th centuries, with the exception of the 16th century bell tower which has been heavily restored. The church became redundant in 1978 and opened as an arts centre in 1980. It hosts a wide variety of events, specialising in emerging talent, with a number of well known artists having made early appearances at the venue. It is a Grade II listed building.
