The International Motor Show Germany or International Mobility Show Germany, in German known as the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA – International Automobile Exhibition), is one of the world's largest mobility trade fairs. It consists of two separate fairs, that subdivided in 1991. While the IAA MOBILITY displays passenger vehicles, motorcycles and bikes, the IAA TRANSPORTATION specializes in commercial vehicles. Before the separation, the show was held solely at the Messe Frankfurt. In 2021, the IAA adopted the New Mobility World concept, formats and business model, rebranded to IAA MOBILITY, and moved to Munich. The IAA is organized by the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA – Association of the German Automotive Industry) and is scheduled by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA), who recognize the IAA as one of the "big five" most prestigious auto shows worldwide.

Messestadt Riem (literally: Convention City Riem; Central Bavarian: Messestod Ream) is an urban district in the east of Munich. It is part of the municipality 15 Trudering-Riem, and located entirely on the grounds of the 1992 abandoned Munich-Riem airport and includes today, along with a residential area, the Neue Messe München trade fair center and the Riem Arcaden shopping mall.

Neue Messe München is an exhibition center in the Messestadt Riem area in the eastern district of Munich Trudering-Riem built from 1994 to 1998. It is operated by Messe München.

The bauma (International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment) is the world's largest trade fair in the construction industry. The trade fair, which can be visited by anyone, is held every three years on the grounds of the Neue Messe München and lasts for seven days. Its organizer is Messe München.

The convention center ICM–Internationales Congress Center München belongs to Messe München. It is structurally integrated into the exhibition center in Munich's Messestadt Riem and has been operating since 1998 together with Messe München. International medical and scientific congresses, general meetings of listed companies as well as events take place in the ICM. Since 2011, the ICM operates together with Messe München and the MOC Veranstaltungscenter München as the Messe München Locations.

Munich-Riem Airport (German: Flughafen München-Riem) was the international airport of Munich, the capital city of Bavaria and third-largest city of Germany. It was closed down on 16 May 1992, the day before the new Munich Airport commenced operations. It was located near the old village of Riem in the borough of Trudering-Riem in the east of Munich. The area has been redeveloped into Messestadt Riem, a new borough consisting of housing projects, a shopping mall, recreation areas and the new convention center Munich Trade Fair.

The Riem Arcaden is the largest shopping mall in Munich. It was built in the Messestadt Riem district at Willy-Brandt-Platz according to a design by the Allmann Sattler Wappner office and opened on 10 March 2004. The 122,500 m² building complex of the Riem Arcaden city quarter offers space for over 140 shops, cafés and restaurants on three floors and around 61,100 m² of retail space. In addition to various fashion brands - including brands such as Marc O'Polo or Tommy Hilfiger (company)- technical novelties, sports equipment, accessories, toys and home décor, doctors, a pharmacy, hairdressers, beauty salons as well as a dry cleaner and alteration tailor are also available for the approximately 9 million visitors each year. On the upper floor there are several cafés surrounded by shops such as Hugendubel, Müller (German trade company) and Zara (retailer), inviting you to linger and relax during your shopping tour.

Munich-Riem station is an S-Bahn station and container terminal in the east of Munich in the district of Trudering-Riem on the Munich–Mühldorf railway in the German state of Bavaria. The station is served by the Munich S-Bahn and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.

The Riemer See lake in Riemer Park, was a part of the Bundesgartenschau 2005, and is an artificial lake in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The Riemer Park which is located in the new Messestadt Riem, was planned by the French landscape architect Gilles Vexlard. The Riemer See is located in the most eastern part of the park. It makes up a fresh water area of approximately 7.7 hectares, and is 14 meters deep, in some areas as deep as 18 meters. The lake is surrounded by the park which includes a north shore, pier and beach area that makes up another 6.1 hectares.
