Noorderkerk

The Noordermarkt (English: Northern Market) is a square in the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The square is dominated by the 17th-Century Noorderkerk church, and is lined by cafés and restaurants. Markets are held on the square every Monday. On Saturdays, a popular organic farmer's market is held on the square. On Mondays a market (mainly for textiles) is also held in the adjacent Westerstraat street.

The Lindengracht is a street and former canal in Amsterdam. It is in the Jordaan neighborhood of the Centrum district just west of the canal belt. The canal was back-filled in 1895. It connected the Brouwersgracht with the Lijnbaansgracht. The Eerste Lindendwarsstraat and Tweede Lindendwarsstraat are side streets. Lindenstraat runs parallel to the Lindengracht.

The Brouwersgracht is a canal in Amsterdam that connects the Singel with the Singelgracht. The canal marks the northwestern border of the Grachtengordel (canal belt). Between the Prinsengracht and the Singelgracht the Brouwersgracht forms the northern border of the Jordaan neighborhood. The house numbers of the Lijnbaansgracht, the Prinsengracht, the Keizersgracht, the Herengracht and the Singel start to count from the Brouwersgracht. The Herenmarkt is located between Brouwersgracht no. 62 and no. 68, near the West-Indisch Huis (West Indies House). In 2007 Brouwersgracht was voted the most beautiful street in Amsterdam by readers of Het Parool out of 150 nominations.

Vrijburg is an historic clandestine church concealed behind a row of houses fronting on the Keizersgracht, Amsterdam. It is situated in the center of the block, with houses on all four sides and no frontage on any public street.Vrijburg was built between 1629 and 1631 to serve Amsterdam's Remonstrant Protestants, who were not allowed to hold worship services in a manner visible by the public. Unlike many clandestine churches, the Vrijburg is a substantial, freestanding building. It is a two-story building with arched windows and even a small rose window made of brick over frame. The elegant, basilica form neoclassical interior has two sets of galleries. To secure its position, the congregation acted over time to purchase almost all of the surrounding houses, one served as a parsonage and the others were hired out.Nowadays, the building houses the debating center "Rode Hoed".

The Goudsbloemgracht (Marigold Canal) was a street and former canal in Amsterdam, in the Jordaan neighborhood of the Centrum district. After the canal was backfilled in 1857 the street was renamed Willemsstraat.

The Embassy of the Free Mind is a museum, library and platform for free thinking, inspired by the philosophy of the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica collection. The Anjeliersgracht (Carnation Canal) is a former canal in the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam. After being backfilled in 1861, it is now Westerstraat. Anjeliersgracht is located between Marnixstraat and Noordermarkt. The canal led from Prinsengracht just south of Noorderkerk to Lijnbaansgracht. Anjeliersstraat runs parallel to the former Anjeliersgracht, today's Westerstraat.

The Westerstraat is a major street in the Jordaan, a neighborhood of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The street was created by the filling in of the Anjeliersgracht. It runs from the Noordermarkt to the Marnixstraat. Besides residential homes and shops, including a supermarket, there are restaurants and cafes.

The House with the Heads (known as 'Huis met de Hoofden' in Dutch) is a large canal house on the Keizersgracht 123 in Amsterdam, named after the six ornaments shaped as heads, which are on the facade. The house is a rijksmonument and is listed on the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites. Nowadays the building is home to the Embassy of The Free Mind, a museum and platform for culture, music, art, science and spirituality.

Haarlemmerbuurt is a neighbourhood in Amsterdam, in the Dutch province of North Holland, and is part of the borough Centrum. The central artery of the area is formed by the streets Haarlemmerdijk and Haarlemmerstraat, the old road to Haarlem. The neighbourhood is bordered to the south by Brouwersgracht, to the west by Singelgracht, on the north by the railway embankment and on the east by Singel. Haarlemmerplein, with the Haarlemmerpoort or Willemspoort city gate, is a square located at the western end of the neighbourhood. On the north side there used to be a timber storage area, which is why this part is called Haarlemmer Houttuinen (Haarlemmer Timberyards). With the construction of the railway line between Singelgracht and Central Station through the Haarlemmer Houttuinen in 1878 this became the northern boundary. In the 1970s, a traffic thoroughfare was built alongside the railway, for which a large part of the Haarlemmer Houttuinen and part of the buildings on the north facade of Haarlemmerplein were demolished. This caused the square to lose its cohesion. Since a new block on the north facade was finished in 2012, the square is once again complete. The West-Indisch Huis (West India House) is located at Haarlemmerstraat 75, and is the former headquarters of the Dutch West India Company. The Posthoornkerk, a church by architect Pierre Cuypers, is located further down the street at numbers 124-126. Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk are known for the great quality and diversity of their shops, boutiques and restaurants, and were voted "best shopping street of The Netherlands" in 2011. There are also a couple of coffeeshops located on Haarlemmerstraat.

Keizersgracht 143 is a canal house on the eastern side of the Keizersgracht between Leliegracht and Herenstraat in Amsterdam. It is a national monument of "very high value" (zeer hoge waarde) and "national distinction" (nationale kenmerkendheid) according to the Dutch Cultural Heritage agency.

Restaurant Christophe is a defunct restaurant in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1989 and retained that rating until 2006.In 2013, Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 14 out of 20 points.The star was gained under the leadership of the head chef Christophe Royer The last head chef is Jean-Joel Bonsens.Jean-Joel Bonsens and his business partner-sommelier Ellen Mansfield took over the restaurant in 2006. They closed down the restaurant in June 2014.
