The Djoué River is a river of the Republic of the Congo. It is a right tributary of the Congo River.

The Lukunga River is a river that flows through the capital city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a tributary of the Congo River. Kinshasa lies on a plain that is surrounded by hills, drained by many rivers. Of these, the Lukunga is one of the more important, and for this reason gives its name to the Lukunga District of the city.The river originates to the west at an elevation of 520 metres (1,710 ft) in the hills of Ngomba Kikusa, in the commune of Ngaliema. It is no wider than 10 metres (33 ft) and is never deeper than 2 metres (6.6 ft) due to constant deposits of sediment. The river drains Ngaliema, the Mama Mobutu neighborhood and part of Mont-Ngafula, and forms the boundary between Ngaliema and Mont-Ngafule. On its right bank the Lukunga is fed first by the Ikusu River, which has its source at a height of 400 metres (1,300 ft) and then by the Mbinza River, which rises at a height of 480 metres (1,570 ft).Before independence, one of the two water treatment plants for Leopoldville, now Kinshasa, was on the Lukunga river at Kinsuka in the Ngaliema district. The station had been designed to last for 30 years with normal maintenance, but was in very poor shape by 1985. The station was built in 1939, and supplies about 48,000 cubic metres (13,000,000 US gal) of drinking water annually for a population of at least 500,0000. The catchment area was protected by dense forest cover until the 1970s. Since then, unplanned agriculture and building have exposed the steep and sandy soils to erosion by heavy rainfalls, raising levels of turbidity to the point where the station must halt operations. Frequent dredging is needed to keep the channel open, as well as use of imported chemical coagulants and lime to make the water drinkable.

The Colonel Tshatshi Military Camp (French: Camp militaire "Colonel Tshatshi") is a military compound in Ngaliema, Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) and hosts the defence department and the central command headquarters of the join chiefs of staff. It surrounds two previous presidential palaces. The camp is named in honour of Joseph-Damien Tshatshi, a military commander loyal to the regime of Joseph-Désiré Mobutu who was assassinated by rebels in July 1966 during the Kisangani mutiny.

The Théâtre de la Verdure (meaning "Green Theater"), is an open-air amphitheater situated within the Institute of National Museums of Congo on Mount Ngaliema in the Ngaliema commune of Kinshasa, located in the western region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as a venue for theatrical performances, concerts, and various cultural events, and is named for its lush, green surroundings. Constructed in 1970 on the private estate of Mount Ngaliema by President Mobutu Sese Seko, the amphitheater's architectural design was influenced by the archetypal open-air amphitheaters of Greco-Roman antiquity, which Mobutu had encountered during his visit to Italy.

The African Union City (French: Cité de l'OUA) is a governmental complex situated in the Ngaliema commune of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located near Mont Ngaliema and serves as a venue for diplomatic and governmental functions. The complex was commissioned by President Mobutu Sese Seko in 1967 when Kinshasa hosted the heads of state summit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). Since then, it has served as the sanctum sanctorum for guests of the Congolese Head of State, as well as for the government's meetings and international summits held in Kinshasa.

Lycée Français Saint-Exupery de Brazzaville (est. 1971) is a French international school in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. It serves levels maternelle (preschool) through lycée (senior high school).

Laurent-Désiré Kabila, the former president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was assassinated in his office inside his official residence at the Palais de Marbre, Kinshasa on 16 January 2001. The assassin who killed him was his 18-year-old bodyguard named Rashidi Mizele, who has also been previously identified as Rashidi Kasereka. Mizele was later shot dead. It was believed that some former child soldiers (kadogos) were part of this plan.

The Marble Palace, (French: Palais de Marbre), is a palace and historic building in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, situated atop a hill in the Ngaliema Commune within the residential neighborhood of Ma Campagne, located a few miles from Mont-Fleury. The complex serves as a guest residence during specific official visits and is accessible to the general public, housing an exhibition that chronicles the history of Laurent-Désiré Kabila's assassination.
