Wijhe

The Wijhe Ferry is a cable ferry across the IJssel in the Netherlands. The ferry crosses from Wijhe in Overijssel to Vorchten in Gelderland. The crossing is located some 17 kilometres (11 mi) south of Zwolle.

The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station was closed between 15 May 1936 and 1 June 1940.

Veessen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Heerde. Veessen was a separate municipality between 1812 and 1818, when it was merged with Heerde.It was first mentioned in 1217 as Vesce. The etymology is unclear. Veessen is an esdorp near the IJssel River. Later, it developed into a linear settlement on the dike. The Dutch Reformed has been built in 1843 as a replacement of a medieval church. The Mölle van Bats is a grist mill built in 1779. A stream engine driven mill was built next to windmill in 1888. In 1840, Veessen was home to 775 people.

Olst-Wijhe (pronounced [ɔlst ˈʋɛiə] ) is a municipality in the province of Overijssel, eastern Netherlands. It borders the Overijssel municipalities of Zwolle to the north, Raalte to the north and east and Deventer to the south; and the Gelderland municipalities of Voorst, Epe and Heerde to the west.

Welsum is a village on the left bank of the river IJssel in the present municipality of Olst-Wijhe in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The village is the source of the Welsummer chicken breed. In 2001, a number of farms culled their flocks in connection with the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. The earliest existing written mention of the village (as Wilsum, kerspel Olst) dates from 1295. The tower of the Protestant church was built around 1475. The village's flour mill, Houdt Braef Stant, dates to 1856, with restorations in 1963 (using internal parts from the mill Wippe in Hellendoorn) and 1986. It is currently being used as a dwelling.

Wapenveld is a village in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Heerde, Gelderland, about 10 km from Zwolle and 100 km from Amsterdam. The village with 6,000 inhabitants, is situated where the valley of the river IJssel meets the Veluwe woods. The Apeldoornse kanaal, which once was used by ships to shortcut the IJssel, runs right through it. The people of Wapenveld earn their living from agriculture (mainly cattle) and industry, mainly AKZO Nobel. Until 2008, Wapenveld was also home to the Berghuizer paper factory. A notable person born in Wapenveld is the speedskater Gerard van Velde.

Heerde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦeːrdə] (listen)) is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. Compared to the rest of the Netherlands, Heerde is fairly religious, as are many of the towns and cities in the Veluwe region.

Heino is a railway station located in Heino, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 January 1881 and is located on the Zwolle–Almelo railway. The station lies outside of Heino, but can be reached by bus.
