The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 11,688.Heaton Park, one of Europe's largest parks, is in this ward.A new "education village" has been constructed in Higher Blackley, including a "learning resource centre" containing a library and IT facilities with specialist facilities including Science, Humanities and English. The project was occupied in stages, with Our Lady's RC High School and North Ridge SEN occupying the building by January 2009, followed by Meade Hill ESBD in July 2009.In 2014, a report from Open Society Foundations described the Higher Blackley ward as " a strong and often supportive community with a sense of identity and belonging based on solid social bonds and connections ... a community that had significant pockets of deprivation alongside areas of relative affluence, a majority white working-class community which has undergone social change including increased migration into the area, and a history of far-right political activity".

Boggart Hole Brook is a river in Blackley, Manchester, England, which a tributary of the River Irk. It rises in Boggart Hole Clough, near the main lake, and has a length of just over a mile.

Charlestown is a ward in the suburban north of the city of Manchester, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 14,332. Voters from this ward elect three councillors to Manchester City Council. The Ward lies mostly within the lower part of the suburb of Blackley, with Blackley Golf club acting as the ward boundary. Different parts of this ward are represented by different MPs following boundary changes in 2018; the majority of the ward is part of the Blackley and Broughton constituency but a small portion (in Moston) is part of the Manchester Central constituency.

Blackley and Broughton (Blayk-lee and Brore-tun) is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament by Graham Stringer. He was first elected in 1997 for the former Manchester Blackley and prior to this was Leader of Manchester City Council. The constituency covers north Manchester and east Salford. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to major boundary changes, including the loss of its two City of Salford wards (Broughton) and the addition of two Borough of Rochdale wards (Middleton South). Accordingly, the seat will be renamed Blackley and Middleton South, to be first contested at the next general election.

It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. In boundary changes for the 2010 general election it was replaced by Blackley and Broughton.

The Church of St Peter in Old Market Street, Blackley, Manchester, England, is a Gothic Revival church of 1844 by E. H. Shellard. It was a Commissioners' church erected at a cost of £3162. The church is particularly notable for an almost completely intact interior. It was designated a Grade II* listed building on 20 June 1988.The church is of "coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings". The nave has buttresses and "clumsy" pinnacles and ends in a "blunt" west tower. The interior is aisled and "particularly impressive for its complete (nineteenth century) interior with the extremely unusual survival of all the fine boxes and other pews".The churchyard contains the war graves of ten service personnel of World War I and seven of World War II.

White Moss is an area lying on the common borders of the City of Manchester and the towns of Middleton and Chadderton in Greater Manchester. White Moss is an extensive area of former wetlands and farms, now bisected by the M60 motorway and the arterial road Victoria Avenue from east to west. The part of White Moss north of the motorway lies partially in both Alkrington in the town of Middleton and the town of Chadderton to the west of Greengate. This part of White Moss is home to Blackley Golf Club.The area of White Moss lying south of the M60 has become a suburban residential area and forms part of Charlestown ward in the City of Manchester, on the historic border of Moston and Blackley townships. The Manchester Creative and Media Academy and North Manchester Rugby Club lie within this area.
