Pont Abraham Services is a Motorway service area in Carmarthenshire, Wales, near Pontarddulais at the western end of the M4 motorway at junction 49, where the motorway meets the A48 and A483 on a roundabout. It has come under regular criticism for high fuel costs.

From 1992 to the present day, it has hosted 13 Minor Counties matches., with Wales Minor Counties playing Devon in the first Minor Counties match on the ground in 1992. The only List-A match played on the ground came in the 2000 NatWest Trophy between Wales Minor Counties and Buckinghamshire, with Wales Minor Counties winning by 11 runs.In local domestic cricket, Pontarddulais Park is the home ground of Pontarddulais Cricket Club who play in the South Wales Cricket League.

It is maintained by the Local Education Authority (LEA), the City and County of Swansea. It is mainly fed by primary schools in Pontarddulais, Pontlliw, Penllergaer, Llangyfelach and Pengelli.

Hendy (Welsh: Yr Hendy) is a village in the community of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is situated at the Carmarthenshire and the City and County of Swansea border. It lies on the Afon Gwili just across the River Loughor from Pontarddulais. Together with Fforest to the north, it forms part of a continuous built-up area centred on Pontarddulais. Most of the village sits between the M4 Motorway junction 48 and the A48 road (Fforest Road) north of the motorway.

Tycroes is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. As measured in the 2011 Census, the population of Tycroes electoral ward was 2,438 persons (50.5% male, 49.5% female).At the 2011 Census all the population was counted in Llanedi community. The built-up area with Capel Hendre had a population of 3,752.The village forms the westernmost fringe of the Amman valley and rests mainly on the anthracite coal measures, part of the South Wales coalfield. It straddles the A483 Swansea to Manchester Trunk road and has a linear village structure, having developed substantially along roads which meet at the centre of the village. The trunk road is in the main artery from north to south of the country and is connected to the M4 motorway network which affords transportation from mainland Europe to Ireland. The rail link at nearby Pantyffynnon contributes a daily service to Swansea, Llanelli and Shrewsbury. Topographically, the village slopes in a general south west to north east direction thus affording panoramic views of the Black Mountain in the east with its peaks - Tair Cairn 482 m, Garreg Lwyd 616 m and behind them Fan Hir 802 m. To the south there are views from Betws Mountain to Mynydd y Gwair above Garnswllt. To the north there is the limestone ridge from Llandybie to Upper Tumble. The Fferws brook which flows from the west to the east divides the local authority administrative areas between Llanedi and Llandybie Community Councils. The name Fferws is possibly derived from the fact that the river flows over mineral rocks which contain iron ore (ferrous being the chemical name for iron). Others say it derives from a delightful house that once stood on its banks - "fairhouse".

It is 10 miles (16 km) northwest of the city centre. The Pontarddulais ward is part of the City and County of Swansea. Pontarddulais adjoins the village of Hendy in Carmarthenshire. The built-up population was 9,073.

Broad Oak and Thornhill Meadows is a Site of Special Scientific Interest near the village of Cross Hands in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The site comprises grassland, formerly used as pasture for horses and cattle. It is a stronghold of the marsh fritillary butterfly.
