Grand-Vivy Castle is a castle in the former municipality of Barberêche (now part of Courtepin) in the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is a Swiss Heritage Site of National Significance.The furthest to the north-east, of Barberêche's three castles, Grand-Vivy Castle is located on a narrow outcrop between the Schiffenensee and a small side stream. This was also the site of a mediaeval castle, but this was replaced by today's late-Gothic structure with its semicircular stairway tower, and other tower construction. The chapel next to the castle was built in the 17th century.

Jeuss (German: [jɔʏs]; French: Jentes [ʒɑ̃t]; Arpitan: Juentes [ˈɟɛ̃tɛ] ) is a former municipality in the district of See or du Lac in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2016 the former municipalities of Courlevon, Jeuss, Lurtigen and Salvenach merged into Murten.

Gurmels (German) or Cormondes (French: [kɔʁmɔ̃d], Franco-Provençal: [kɔʁˈmɔ̃dɛ] ) is a municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Over the years, Gurmels has incorporated a number of smaller municipalities, most recently the village of Cordast in January 2005.

Cordast (French: La Corbaz) is a former municipality in the See district of the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. Since 2005 it has been part of the municipality of Gurmels. It is a street village north of Fribourg.

Petit-Vivy Castle is a castle in the former municipality of Barberêche (now part of Courtepin) in the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is a Swiss Heritage Site of National Significance.It is located near the dike surrounding the Schiffenensee and northeast of Barberêche. It is among the oldest preserved castles in the region. The still-preserved, mighty, four-sided keep was built in the second half of the 13th century, and has 3.5 m (11 ft) thick walls. Around the keep are the remains of former surrounding walls, arranged in triangular form. The residential buildings were built in the 16th century.

Schiffenensee or Lac de Schiffenen is an artificial lake formed by a barrage of the Saane/Sarine river in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The barrages at Schiffenen, Düdingen municipality, were completed in 1963.

Guschelmuth is a former municipality in the See district of the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. Since 2003 it has been part of the municipality of Gurmels. German-speaking Guschelmuth lies 9 km north of Fribourg and consists of Kleinguschelmuth and Grossguschelmuth, which were separate municipalities until they merged in 1978.

Barberêche (German: Bärfischen; Arpitan: Barberèche, locally Barberêtse [baʁbəˈʁɛtsə] (listen)) is a former municipality in the district of Lac in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. It lies on the "language boundary" between the French- and German-speaking parts of Switzerland. On 1 January 2017 it merged with Villarepos and Wallenried into the extant municipality of Courtepin.

See or Lac District (German: Seebezirk, French: District du Lac) is one of the seven districts of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Lying to the north of the canton, the district is bilingual (French/German). Its territory enclaves the two Bernese municipalities of Münchenwiler and Clavaleyres, while its own village of Wallenbuch (now part of Gurmels) is an exclave within Bern. It has a population of 37,695 (as of 31 December 2020).

Düdingen (German: [ˈdyːdɪŋən]; French: Guin [ɡɛ̃]; Arpitan: Duens, locally Dyin [ɟɛ̃] (listen)) is a municipality in the district of Sense in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg.
