The German Central Library for the Blind (German: Deutsches Zentrum für barrierefreies Lesen, earlier Deutsche Zentralbücherei für Blinde), abbreviated DZB, is a public library for the visually impaired located in the city of Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. Its collection of 72,300 titles is amongst the largest in the German speaking countries. The institution consists of a lending library, a publishing house, and a research center for barrier-free communication. It also has production facilities for braille books, audiobooks, and braille music. The DZB publishes about 250 new titles annually. Founded in 1894, the DZB is the oldest library for the blind in Germany.

Gottschedstrasse is a residential street in Leipzig, Germany, in the so-called theater district (in German language: Schauspielviertel) of the Innere Westvorstadt (inner west Vorstadt). It extends over a length of around 650 m (2,132.5 ft) in an east–west direction from the Inner City Ring Road at the level of St. Thomas Church to the Poniatowski monument at Elstermühlgraben. It is named after the writer, literary and theater theorist Johann Christoph Gottsched (1700–1766). It is primarily known as a pub and nightlife area.

It consists of the Waldstraßenviertel neighbourhood in the east, the area around the Red Bull Arena and Sportforum in the west and the Rosental public park in the north.

The Richard Wagner Memorial in Leipzig was unveiled in 2013 to mark the 200th birthday of Richard Wagner (1813-1883). It was created by Stephan Balkenhol (* 1957) using the base designed 100 years ago by Max Klinger (1857-1920).

The ornate Moorish Revival Leipzig Synagogue in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, was built in 1855 by German Jewish architect Otto Simonson who had studied under Gottfried Semper, architect of the Semper Synagogue in Dresden. The synagogue was commissioned by the small Leipzig Jewish community and by Jewish merchants from throughout Europe who gathered for the annual Leipzig Trade Fair.The interior featured horseshoe arches, an Aron Kodesh in the style of a mihrab and a pulpit in the style of a mimbar. Because so many businessmen gathered in Leipzig for the fairs, the synagogue is thought to have influenced the decision to build Moorish revival synagogues in other cities. The synagogue was destroyed on Kristallnacht by the Nazi regime.

The Innere Westvorstadt (lit. 'Inner west Vorstadt') is a neighbourhood and residential area in Leipzig, Germany, immediately west of the city centre, and belongs to the borough (Stadtbezirk) of Leipzig-Mitte. The term is mainly used in historical, urban planning and regional contexts. In common parlance, the area around Kolonnadenstrasse and Dorotheenplatz, which was built in place of Reichel's garden, is more likely to be called the Kolonnadenviertel. The northern part, around the Schauspielhaus (theater house) and the Gottschedstrasse pub mile, on the other hand, is called the Schauspielviertel. The Schauspiel Leipzig, the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, the Theaterhaus Schille and established artists in Kolonnadenstraße shape the district artistically.

The Leipzig City Harbour (German: Stadthafen Leipzig) is a leisure harbour in Leipzig, Germany. Close to the city center, it is the gate to Leipzig's waterway network, which extends south to the Lake Cospuden. The harbour offers take-off and berths for individual boats and small passenger ships. There are rental options and a catering service.

The Natural History Museum in Leipzig (German: Naturkundemuseum Leipzig) is a natural history museum in the city of Leipzig, Germany. The museum contains the insect collection of Alexander Julius Reichert.

St. Matthew was a church in the old town of Leipzig. During its history it had several names and functions. As a church of the Franciscan order, built in 1488, it was known as Barfüßerkirche and Heiliggeistkirche. It served as a Lutheran church, known as Neukirche, from 1699. A new congregation formed in 1876 and named the church Matthäikirche (St. Matthew). The building was destroyed in a bombing in 1943.

Richard-Wagner-Platz is a square in Leipzig in the northwest of Leipzig city centre. The square is named after the composer Richard Wagner, whose house of birth was nearby.
