Trifels Castle

Anebos Castle is a ruin of a medieval castle in the Palatinate Forest south of Anweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The name of the castle is probably derived from the German word "Amboss" (anvil).

Scharfenberg Castle (German: Burg Scharfenberg, popularly also called Münz), is the ruin of a medieval rock castle in the Palatine Forest in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is situated above the small South Palatine town of Annweiler.

Annweiler am Trifels (German: [ˈanvaɪlɐ ʔam ˈtʁiːfɛls] ), or Annweiler is a town in the Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the river Queich, 12 km west of Landau. Annweiler am Trifels station is on the Landau–Saarbrücken railway. Annweiler is situated in the Southern part of the Palatinate forest called the Wasgau, and is surrounded by high hills which yield a famous red sandstone. The town's main industry is tourism. On the Sonnenberg (493 m) lie the ruins of the castle of Trifels, in which Richard Coeur de Lion was imprisoned from 31 March to 19 April 1193.Annweiler is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") of Annweiler am Trifels. In a 1911 edition of the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie, the area around Annweiler was referred to as "Pfälzer Schweiz".Annweiler has a primary school and a secondary school ( Staatliche Realschule Annweiler ) which was a partner school with the William Lovell Secondary School in Stickney, Lincolnshire. There is also a school for people with learning disabilities and a vocational school and the Trifels-Gymnasium evangelical grammar school.

Annweiler am Trifels station is the main station in the town of Annweiler am Trifels in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 5 station and it has three platform tracks. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zones 181 and 191. Since 2002, Annweiler has also been part of the area served by the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (Karlsruhe Transport Association, KVV) using tickets at a transitional rate. Annweiler was always the most important station between Landau (Pfalz) Hbf and Pirmasens Nord and it used to be served by long-distance services. It was opened on 12 September 1874, when the first section of the line from Landau went into operation. 14 months later, it was connected with Zweibrücken and became a through station. This developed into the modern Landau–Rohrbach railway, which has existed in its present form since 1895.

The Rehberg is a prominent hill, 576.8 m above sea level (NHN), in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. After the Grand Wintersberg (ca. 581 m) in French North Alsace, the Rehberg is the second highest hill in the Wasgau (French: Vasgovie), the Franco-German region that forms the southern part of the Palatine Forest and runs from the valley of the River Queich to the Col de Saverne . The Rehberg is also the highest hill on German soil in the Wasgau. As part of the Palatine Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve it has been placed under special protection measures. It lies two kilometres south of the town of Annweiler and has an observation tower at the summit named the Rehberg tower after the hill. The tower offers visitors an unhindered panoramic view over large parts of the Palatine Forest and Upper Rhine Plain as far as the hill chains of the Odenwald, Black Forest and Vosges.

The Asselstein is a rock pinnacle or tower near the village of Annweiler am Trifels in the Southern Palatinate in western Germany. The road from Annweiler to Trifels runs close by the Asselstein. Not far east of the rock is the Asselstein Climbing Hut. The roughly 60 metre tall and over 10 metre wide rock tower is 58 metres high at its highest point and consists of rocks from the Lower Bunter Sandstone (Trifels beds). The Asselstein was first climbed in June 1860. With almost 80 routes, e. g. Normalweg IV−, Westwand V−, Rolfkamin V+ and Ostwand V (UIAA climbing grades) it is one of the major climbing destinations in the South Palatinate Climbing Area. The most difficult route is UIAA grade 9+.

Waldrohrbach is a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

The Hohenberg is a 552 m above sea level (NN) high hill in the Palatinate Forest, in the municipalities of Birkweiler, Queichhambach and Siebeldingen. At its summit is an observation tower, a refuge hut and starting ramps for hang gliders.

The Großer Adelberg is a hill, 567 metres high, in the Central Palatinate Forest in Germany.

Waldhambach is a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise) Südwestpfalz, Bad Dürkheim, the district-free city Neustadt (Weinstraße), Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, Germersheim, and the French département Bas-Rhin. The district-free city Landau is surrounded by the district.
