Sindoor Bridge
The Sindoor Bridge, historically known as the Carnac Bridge, is a critical east-west road over bridge (ROB) located in South Mumbai, India. Spanning the Central Railway tracks between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Masjid Bunder railway station, it connects P.D. Mello Road with Mohammad Ali Road and Lokmanya Tilak Marg. First constructed in 1868 during the British colonial era, the 154-year-old historic bridge was demolished in late 2022 after structural audits deemed it unsafe. It was completely rebuilt by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and reopened to traffic on 10 July 2025 under its new official name, Sindoor Bridge.
