Pigdon is a hamlet and former civil parish 3 miles (4.8 km) from Morpeth, now in the parish of Meldon, in the county of Northumberland, England. In 1951 the parish had a population of 52.

Mitford Hall is a Georgian mansion house and Grade II* listed building standing in its own 85-acre (34 ha) park overlooking the River Wansbeck at Mitford, Northumberland. It was built in 1828 by the Mitford family to a design by architect John Dobson, to replace their old home, Mitford Old Manor House, on the opposite side of the river. Since 1993 it has been owned by Shepherd Offshore, the Shepherd family business run by Bruce and Freddy Shepherd.

Mitford Old Manor House is an historic English manor house at Mitford, Northumberland, and is a Grade II* listed building. The Manor of Mitford was held from ancient times by the Mitford family. The Manor House previously stood, adjacent to the old church of St Mary Magdalene, on the eastern side of the River Wansbeck. The substantial ruins now standing on the site represent the remains of a 16th-century house and of a porch tower built in about 1637. The original house was substantially demolished and rebuilt in about 1810, then abandoned by the Mitfords when they built a new mansion house, Mitford Hall, and park on the opposite bank of the river in 1828. In about 1960 a modern house was created out of the kitchen wing.

Mitford Castle is an English castle dating from the end of the 11th century and located at Mitford, Northumberland. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building, enlisted on 20 October 1969. The castle is also officially on the Buildings at Risk Register. The Norman motte and bailey castle stands on a small prominence, a somewhat elliptical mound, above the River Wansbeck. The selected building site allowed for the natural hill to be scarped and ditched, producing the motte.Mitford Castle was the first of three seats for the main line of the Mitford family constructed on manor lands. Following the destruction of Mitford Castle, Mitford Old Manor House (nearby and to the northwest) was used from the 16th century until the construction of Mitford Hall in 1828. Mitford Hall stands in an 85-acre (340,000 m2) park to the west of the castle ruins.

The hamlet lies near to the River Font which joins the River Wansbeck near Mitford.

Whalton is a small village in Northumberland, England. The population at the 2001 census was 427, which increased to 474 by the 2011 Census.It hosts an annual Bale Fire on 4 July, the date on which midsummer's eve was celebrated before the introduction of the Gregorian calendar to England in 1752. It features morris dancing and dancing by the children of the village school outside of the Beresford Arms, which provides beer and a barbecue. The annual village show takes place on the third Saturday in September, and generally includes sheep racing, classic cars, military vehicles, a birds-of-prey exhibit, archery, a brass band, a dog show, a farmers market, Northumbrian pipes music, a vegetable show, a flower show, teas and coffees, home baking, and a harvest festival at the church. Whalton Manor is located at the heart of Whalton. Its garden is open to the public.

Whalton Manor is a house in the village of Whalton, Northumberland, England. It is a grade II listed building. The house dates from the 17th century but was substantially altered by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1908, at the same time as he was working on Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island. With the help of Gertrude Jekyll, Lutyens also designed the walled gardens, which include architectural features such as a pavilion, a tiled hexagonal summerhouse, a stone pergola and a stone paved courtyard.

Meldon railway station was a stone built railway station with goods sidings in Northumberland on the Wansbeck Railway between Morpeth and Reedsmouth to the south of the village of Meldon.

Tranwell Airfield is a former airfield located 3.3 miles (5.3 km) southwest of Morpeth and 11.5 miles (18.5 km) north west of Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England. The former airfield is the site of the former Royal Air Force Station Morpeth or simply RAF Morpeth which was an air gunnery school and was home to No. 80 (French) Operational Training Unit RAF. Today the site has reverted to agriculture although several wartime buildings remain and are used for storage. Parts of the hard standings also survive and are used for a car boot sale every Sunday.
