Stamford Arms

Heyheads is the easternmost area of Stalybridge, in Greater Manchester, England. The area includes the sixteenth century Grade II listed Nos 1, 2 and 3 Moorgate Farmhouse and adjoining barn and shippon buildings. Boundary cottages mark the boundary between Stalybridge and Mossley and the historic boundary between Cheshire and Lancashire. Modern Housing was built on Huddersfield Road in the 1970. With a further estate built close to Moorgate in the 1990s. The view to the south is dominated by the steep-sided Buckton Hill, on the summit of which is located Buckton Castle. Stamford Golf Club has an 18-hole course to the North of Huddersfield Road. The club was incorporated on Saturday 24 August 1901 and like the only pub in Heyheads, The Stamford Arms, was named after the local Landowner the Earl of Stamford.

Mossley is an electoral ward of Tameside, England. It is represented in Westminster by Jonathan Reynolds Labour Co-operative MP for Stalybridge and Hyde.

Carrbrook is a village east of Stalybridge, in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, England. The area still has many seventeenth and eighteenth-century buildings. Much of the late-nineteenth and the early-twentieth-century village was built during the industrial boom brought by the printworks. In the 1970s modern Housing estates were built next to the old village on the lower flank of Harridge Pike. The view to the east of Carrbrook is dominated by the steep-sided Buckton Hill, on the summit of which is located Buckton Castle. Neighbouring communities include Millbrook, Heyheads and Mossley. Many properties in Carrbrook were threatened by a large wildfire burning on Buckton Moor in late June 2018. The fires burned for several weeks and the damage caused is still visible to this day. On 26 June 2018, 50 properties in Carrbrook were evacuated as the fire advanced towards the settlement. Carrbrook is now part of a high fire risk zone. On the 27th December 2023 at approx. 23:10 GMT, a tornado hit the village during Storm Gerrit - the strongest in the UK since 2006. Heavy damage was done to some structures, however no deaths were recorded.

Micklehurst Railway Station served the town of Mossley in Cheshire. It was built by the London and North Western Railway on its Micklehurst Line. The station closed for passengers in 1907 and to freight on 19 February 1962 but the line through the station remained open for passenger traffic until 7 September 1964. The station building on the up (Diggle to Stalybridge) side are still standing and are used as a private residence.

Mossley Hollins High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Mossley, in the borough of Tameside, Greater Manchester. The school's original building was opened in the 1960s. Mossley Hollins ranked eighth in Tameside in the most recent league table of school GCSE performance. The school received a rating of "Good" in an Ofsted report made in 2023.The Department for Education stated that the academic performance of students at Mossley Hollins was amongst the best in England with the GCSE results in English in 2014 placing them in the top 2% of schools nationally.The school has a new £20 million building which opened to pupils on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

Buckton Castle was a medieval enclosure castle near Carrbrook in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, England. It was surrounded by a 2.8-metre-wide (9 ft) stone curtain wall and a ditch 10 metres (33 ft) wide by 6 metres (20 ft) deep. Buckton is one of the earliest stone castles in North West England and only survives as buried remains overgrown with heather and peat. It was most likely built and demolished in the 12th century. The earliest surviving record of the site dates from 1360, by which time it was lying derelict. The few finds retrieved during archaeological investigations indicate that Buckton Castle may not have been completed. In the 16th century, the site may have been used as a beacon for the Pilgrimage of Grace. During the 18th century, the castle was of interest to treasure hunters following rumours that gold and silver had been discovered at Buckton. The site was used as an anti-aircraft decoy site during the Second World War. Between 1996 and 2010, Buckton Castle was investigated by archaeologists as part of the Tameside Archaeology Survey, first by the University of Manchester Archaeological Unit then the University of Salford's Centre for Applied Archaeology. The project involved community archaeology, and more than 60 volunteers took part. The castle, close to the Buckton Vale Quarry, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Mossley (/ˈmɒzli/) is a town and civil parish in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England. It is located in the upper Tame Valley and the foothills of the Pennines, 3 miles (4.8 km) south-east of Oldham and 8.9 miles (14.3 km) east of Manchester. The historic counties of Lancashire, Cheshire and the West Riding of Yorkshire meet in Mossley and local government wards and church parishes correspond to their boundaries. Mossley had a population of 10,921 at the 2011 Census. It is the only parished area of Tameside, having had a parish council since 1999.

Mossley railway station in Mossley, Greater Manchester, England, is on the Huddersfield Line 9.9 miles (16 km) north-east of Manchester Victoria and is managed by Northern, which do not provide any services to or from this station. Only TransPennine Express trains stop here.

Mossley Hall, formerly known as Mossley Town Hall, is a former municipal building in Stamford Road, Mossley, a town in Greater Manchester in England. The building, which served as the offices and meeting place of Mossley Borough Council, is a grade II listed building.

Hartshead Power Station was a coal-fired power station situated at Heyrod, Greater Manchester in North West England.

Millbrook is a village near Stalybridge, northwest England. It is part of the Stalybridge South ward of Tameside metropolitan borough. It also played a huge part of the industrial revolution, as the name suggests, several cotton mills once existed, in and around the village, Bottomleys mill was in one of the first ever steam driven mills. Millbrook suffered from the Storm Angus, 21 Nov 2016 when 3 inches (7.6 cm) of rain fell on Tameside in five hours.

Staley and Millbrook railway station served the villages Staley and Millbrook in Stalybridge, Cheshire (later Tameside). The station was built by the London and North Western Railway on the Micklehurst Line and opened on 3 May 1886. It served passengers until closure on 1 November 1909. The line through the station remained open for passenger traffic until 7 September 1964 and for freight until 1972.
