Dupont Park

Twining is a neighborhood in Southeast Washington, D.C., near the eastern bank of the Anacostia River. It is bounded by Minnesota Avenue NE to the northeast, Branch Avenue to the northwest, and Pennsylvania Avenue to the south. The Fort Dupont year-round ice skating rink, and the Smithsonian's Anacostia Neighborhood Museum are nearby. It is named for Major William Johnson Twining, who served as Military Commissioner of the District of Columbia from 1878 until his death in 1882.

Engine Company No. 19 is a historic Engine house in Southeast Washington, D.C.'s Randle Highlands neighborhood. It was listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites in 2009 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Penn Branch is a neighborhood in Southeast Washington, D.C., east of the Anacostia River. It is bounded by Pennsylvania Avenue SE to the south; Pope Branch Park and Pope Creek to the north; Branch Avenue to the west; and Fort Davis Park to the east. ‘Penn Branch’, takes its name from its location at the intersection of two major thoroughfares, Pennsylvania and Branch Avenue (the Washington continuation of Maryland Route 5). Penn Branch and neighboring Hillcrest, Fort Dupont and Dupont Park are conveniently located close to the rapidly developing Capitol Hill and is about 15 minutes from the U.S. Capitol. The area is convenient to the Southeast-Southwest Freeway, and is also popular for its treelined streets, American Craftsman bungalow, Federal , Mid-Atlantic Colonial Revival, and Tudor Revival homes. The area has an altitude higher than most of Washington.

Anacostia Park is operated by the United States National Park Service. It is one of Washington, D.C.'s largest and most important recreation areas, with over 1200 acres (4.9 km2) at multiple sites. Included in Anacostia Park is Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens and Kenilworth Marsh. Hundreds of acres are available for ballfields, picnicking, basketball, tennis, and the Anacostia Park Pavilion has some 3300 square feet (307 m2) of space for roller skating and special events. The Langston Golf Course offers an 18-hole course as well as a driving range, and three concession-operated marinas, four boat clubs, and a public boat ramp provide for access to the tidal Anacostia River for recreational boating. "Eagles' Nest", the headquarters of the United States Park Police helicopter aviation unit is located in Anacostia Park. Additionally, the headquarters of National Capital Parks-East is located within the park.

Pope Branch is a tributary stream of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC. The headwaters of the stream originate near Fort Davis Drive, and the branch flows roughly northwest for about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the Anacostia, which drains to the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. The watershed area of Pope Branch is about 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2).

Park Naylor is a residential neighborhood located in southeast Washington, D.C. It takes its name from its northern and eastern borders, Naylor Road and Fort Stanton Park. The Anacostia Railroad Bridge is a vertical lift railroad bridge crossing the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C., United States. The bridge is owned by CSX Transportation.

Francis A. Gregory Neighborhood Library is part of the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) System. It was originally opened to the public in 1961. A new building on the same site, designed by award-winning architect David Adjaye opened on June 19, 2012.

The Seafarers Yacht Club, originally known as the Seafarers Boat Club, is a boating club on the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. It has been identified as "one of the oldest—if not the oldest—operating Black boating club" in the United States.In 2022, its clubhouse at 1950 M Street SE was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fort Dupont Park is a 376-acre (1.52 km2) wooded park under the management of the National Park Service located in Washington, DC. The name of the park comes from the old Civil War earthwork fort that lies within the park. The fort was one of several designed to defend Washington from a Confederate attack during the Civil War. There are few remains of the actual fortifications. It is one of Washington's largest parks and protects an important sub-watershed of the Anacostia River. The park is a popular place for picnics, nature walks, indoor ice skating, mountain bike riding, gardening, environmental education, music, skating, sports, and ranger-led Civil War programs.
