The Cathedral of Saint Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota. It is the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis; the Co-Cathedral is the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. One of the most distinctive cathedrals in the United States, it sits on Cathedral Hill overlooking downtown St. Paul and features a distinctive copper-clad dome. It is dedicated to Paul the Apostle, who is also the namesake of the City of St. Paul. The current building opened in 1915 as the fourth cathedral of the archdiocese to bear this name. On March 25, 2009, it was designated as the National Shrine of the Apostle Paul by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican. It is the third-largest Catholic cathedral and sixth-largest church in the United States.

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis (Latin: Archidiœcesis Paulopolitana et Minneapolitana) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church in the United States. It is led by an archbishop who administers the archdiocese from the cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The archbishop has both a cathedral and co-cathedral: the mother church, the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Saint Paul and the co-cathedral, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis. The archdiocese has 188 parish churches in twelve counties of Minnesota. It counts in its membership an approximate total of 750,000 people. It has two seminaries, the Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity and Saint John Vianney College Seminary. Its official newspaper is The Catholic Spirit.

The Minnesota History Center is a museum and library that serves as the headquarters of the Minnesota Historical Society. It is near downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, and is considered one of Minnesota's finest public buildings.The History Center is on Kellogg Boulevard, between the Mississippi River and the Minnesota State Capitol. Before this building was built in 1992, the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) occupied what is now the Minnesota Judicial Center, originally built for the Society in 1917. Before that, MNHS was housed in the basement of the State Capitol.The Center hosts concerts, dance performances, lectures, conferences, meetings, dinners, political campaign events, memorial services, receptions, parties, and weddings; as many as 75,000 schoolchildren visit the History Center every year.

The college enrolls nearly 15,000 students in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area; the average student age is 26.. It also employs 121 full-time faculty, 168 part-time faculty, 192 staff members, and 16 members of the administration.

The James J. Hill House in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, was built by railroad magnate James J. Hill. The house, completed in 1891, is near the eastern end of Summit Avenue near the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The house, for its time, was very large and was the "showcase of St. Paul" until James J. Hill's death in 1916. It is listed as a U.S. National Historic Landmark, operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. It is also a contributing property to the Historic Hill District.The home has 36,000 square feet (3,344 square meters) of living area and 44,552 square feet of total space.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is a cabinet-level state agency that serves current and former members of the United States Armed Forces residing in Minnesota. Established by the Minnesota Legislature in 1943, the department operates eight veterans homes, four state veterans cemeteries, and benefit, education, and outreach programs for the state's approximately 300,000 veterans. The MDVA is headed by a commissioner appointed by the governor of Minnesota, who must be a Minnesota resident, U.S. citizen, and armed forces veteran under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 196. The current commissioner is Brad Lindsay, appointed by Governor Tim Walz in December 2023. The agency grew out of the Minnesota Soldiers' Home, established in 1887 for Civil War veterans, and the Soldiers Welfare Bureau, created in 1925. The Legislature merged these functions in 1943. The veterans homes were briefly governed by an independent board (1988–2007) before being returned to MDVA control. Three new veterans homes opened in early 2024, bringing the total to eight, and the department's homelessness programs have received the Abraham Lincoln Pillars of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Dorothy Day shelter is a homeless shelter campus in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The project is centered around the site of the Dorothy Day Center built in downtown Saint Paul in 1981. The shelter is named after American Catholic and social activist Dorothy Day. The Dorothy Day Center started as a drop-in center for meals to help the homeless population in downtown Saint Paul. The facility is operated by Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis in coordination with Ramsey County, Minnesota. The new Higher Ground St. Paul facility was planned to provide around twice as much space as the Dorothy Day Center. Construction on the Higher Ground St. Paul housing program began in 2015 and was opened on January, 2017 located next to the Dorothy Day Center site. The Higher Ground facility serves the downtown Saint Paul homeless population by providing emergency shelter as well as more permanent housing.The original Dorothy Day Center was demolished on September, 2017. The new Saint Paul Opportunity Center and Dorothy Day Residence facility under construction on the previous Dorothy Day Center location is expected to be completed by July 2019. The Dorothy Day Center provided approximately eight million meals to the community during the duration of its operations over 36 years.

United Hospital is part of Allina Health and offers specialty services including pregnancy care, birth center, behavioral health, cancer care, heart and vascular services, orthopedics and neuroscience. Cossetta Alimentari (also known as Cossetta's Pizzeria, Cossetta's or Cosettea), is a restaurant and pizzeria located at 211 7th Street West in Saint Paul, Minnesota on the corner of West Seventh and North Chestnut Street. Since its founding in 1911, it has been popular among locals and tourists for its renowned Italian cuisine, namely its pizza and panettone. According to Minnesota journalist Jason DeRusha of Minnesota Monthly, Cossetta's is one of the most popular pizzerias within the Twin Cities.

The Rochat-Louise-Sauerwein Block are a group of buildings that comprise one of the few remaining intact Victorian commercial blocks in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. They were built 1885-1895 by Castner, Hermann Kretz, and Edward P. Bassford, and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Justus Ramsey Stone House is the oldest known house still standing in Saint Paul in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The house, located at 252 West 7th Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is an example of a Saint Paul residence of a settler of some financial means.
