The Charles E. Nelson House was an historic house located in Dufur, Oregon, in the United States. The late 1800s Queen Anne Victorian was burned by the Substation Fire in mid 2018. It was one of the most widely photographed houses in Oregon.

The Substation Fire was a wildfire in the U.S. state of Oregon near The Dalles. The fire was first reported on July 17, 2018, and had burned 78,425 acres (317 km2).

Endersby is an unincorporated community in Wasco County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies along Eightmile Creek at the intersection of Endersby Cutoff and Eightmile Road, about 3 miles (5 km) north-northwest of the small city of Dufur. The cutoff road connects the community to U.S. Route 197. Endersby was named for W. E. Endersby, a settler. A post office called Endersly, with an unexplained variant spelling, operated here from 1892 through 1906. Endersby School, built as a grange hall in 1892, opened as a public school in 1907. It closed in 1935, after enrollment had dropped to 11 students, and the building then passed into private hands. In 1994, volunteers moved the building to Dufur, and its owner gave it to the Dufur Historical Society. A grant from the Meyer Memorial Trust enabled the society to restore the school, and in 2003 Endersby School became an exhibit at the Dufur Museum.

Eightmile Creek is a stream in Wasco County and Hood River County, Oregon, in the United States. It is a tributary of Fifteenmile Creek. Eightmile Creek was named from its distance, eight miles (13 km) from The Dalles.

The Celilo Converter Station, built in 1970 and owned and operated by the Bonneville Power Administration, is the northern terminus of the Pacific DC Intertie, near The Dalles, Oregon, in the United States.

The Pacific DC Intertie (also called Path 65) is an electric power transmission line that transmits electricity from the Pacific Northwest to the Los Angeles area using high voltage direct current (HVDC). The line capacity is 3.1 gigawatts, which is enough to serve two to three million Los Angeles households and represents almost half of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) electrical system's peak capacity.The intertie originates near the Columbia River at the Celilo Converter Station of Bonneville Power Administration's grid outside The Dalles, Oregon and is connected to the Sylmar Converter Station north of Los Angeles, which is owned by five utility companies and managed by LADWP. The Intertie can transmit power in either direction, but power flows mostly from north to south. The section of the line in Oregon is owned and operated by Bonneville Power Administration, while the line in Nevada and California is owned and operated by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The transition is at the Oregon–Nevada border, at 41°59′47″N 119°57′44″W. This is one of two HVDC lines serving Los Angeles; the other is Path 27.

Fairbanks is an unincorporated community in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. It is about 12 miles (19 km) east of The Dalles, just south of U.S. Route 30/Interstate 84, near Fifteenmile Creek.Fairbanks was established in 1905 as a station on the Great Southern Railroad. It was named for Charles W. Fairbanks, then newly elected vice president under Theodore Roosevelt. Fairbanks post office was established in 1905 and ran until 1909, when it closed out to Freebridge. Freebridge soon closed out to Wrentham. Both locales were also Great Southern stations.

Cushing Falls, is a waterfall located south of Seufert County park on the shore of the Columbia River, just east of The Dalles, in Wasco County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It totals 8 feet waterfall along the course of Fifteenmile Creek surrounded by a dryer natural environment than the western flank of the Columbia Gorge.

Seufert County Park is a public park located just east of The Dalles, Oregon, United States, and is operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The park's main attraction is The Dalles Dam Visitor Center where one can view exhibits regarding the history and function the dam. The park is named after the Seufert family which operated a salmon cannery near the park from the late 19th century until the construction of the dam. The park also has picnic tables and a small rose garden.

Fifteenmile Creek is a 54-mile (87 km) long tributary of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Oregon. It drains 373 square miles (966 km2) of Hood River and Wasco counties. Arising in the Cascade Range near Mount Hood, it flows northeast then west to its confluence with the Columbia near The Dalles. It was named "fifteenmile" because in pioneer days the main road crossed the creek about fifteen miles (24 km) from The Dalles.

The Indian Shaker Church and Gulick Homestead are an ensemble of historic buildings in The Dalles, Oregon, United States. Built by Henry Gulick directly on the Columbia riverbank in the 1890s, it is the only remaining 19th century fishing homestead in Oregon. Gulick, an employee of the locally-important Seufert salmon canning concern, included a church building in the complex in ca. 1896 for his wife, Harriet, a member of the Wasco people. The church was the smallest of five Indian Shaker Church congregations in the state.The church and homestead were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
