Bailleul (French pronunciation: [bajœl] ; Belle in Dutch) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is located in French Flanders, 3 km (2 mi) from the Belgian border and 26 km (16 mi) northwest of Lille.

The canton of Bailleul is an administrative division of the Nord department, northern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Bailleul.It consists of the following communes:

Robert Balderston Burgess (25 December 1890 – 9 December 1915) was a rugby union player, who represented Ireland. He died at Armentières during the First World War.

Captain William Victor Trevor Rooper (10 May 1897 – 9 October 1917) was a British World War I flying ace credited with eight aerial victories, before becoming Franz Xaver Danhuber's seventh victim.

Sergeant Frank Potter (1891 – 11 September 1917) was a British World War I observer who became a flying ace, being credited with seven aerial victories.

Captain Harry Gosford Reeves (30 September 1896 – 24 January 1918) was a British World War I flying ace credited with 13 aerial victories while flying various models of Nieuport aircraft. He was killed in a crash while flight testing a Nieuport 27.

The Jardin des Plantes Sauvages du Conservatoire botanique national de Bailleul (1 hectare) is a garden of protected local plants maintained by the Conservatoire botanique national de Bailleul in Haendries, northwest of Bailleul, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, in France. It is open weekdays in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The conservatory was established in 1970, designated the Conservatoire botanique national de Bailleul in 1991, and in 2003 opened its Jardin des Plantes Sauvages to preserve endangered and protected plants of northwestern France, and to educate the public on their importance. Today the garden contains over 850 local plant species.

Saint-Jans-Cappel (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɑ̃s kapɛl]; Dutch: Sint-Jans Kapel) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France.

Mont Noir (Zwarte Berg in Dutch) is a 152 metres (499 ft) high hill located on the French-Belgian border, a few kilometres from Bailleul. It takes its name from the presence of a high concentration of black pine woodland, which covers the hillside.

Méteren (French pronunciation: [metʁɛn]; from Flemish; Meteren in modern Dutch spelling) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. In October 1914, the British army passed through Meteren during the Race to the Sea, and the future Field-Marshal Montgomery of Alamein received a DSO at the rank of Lieutenant.

Dranouter (Dutch, locally known as Nouter) is a village and a deelgemeente in the municipality of Heuvelland in West Flanders, Belgium. Dranouter was an independent municipality before the 1977 local government reforms. Since then, it has been part of the municipality of Heuvelland. The area of the deelgemeente Dranouter is 10.73 km2. The Dranouter Folk Festival is organised in the village every year. The postal code is 8951.

Loker (also spelt Locre ) is a small village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and a part ("deelgemeente") of the municipality of Heuvelland. For the major part of World War I, the city was controlled by the Allied Powers. A field hospital was located there and multiple war graves can also be found.
