City Heights Transit Plaza

East San Diego was an independent, short-lived city that existed from 1912 to 1923 in what is now the City Heights neighborhood of the city of San Diego, California. The town had its own city hall and police department. It had a population of about 4,000.The city of East San Diego called itself the "Golden Rule City" and enacted conservative laws. The city did not allow gambling or alcohol, and enforced a maximum speed of 25 mph on all city streets. However, an inability to generate enough tax revenue to support city services forced East San Diego to merge with the City of San Diego in 1923. Boundary Street is a lasting relic of the former border between the two cities.

Boulevard Transit Plaza is a bus rapid transit station in the City Heights district of San Diego located at the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and California State Route 15. The street-level platforms are served by Rapid 215, while the freeway-level platforms are served by Rapid 235. Local service is also provided by MTS route 1 at the street-level platforms and express route 60 at the freeway ramps. Prior to the Transit Plaza, the Rapid 235 served the intersection using bus stops at freeway ramps. Rapid 215 buses later began serving the station after service began in 2014. In March 2018, Boulevard Transit Plaza officially opened, featuring new freeway-level "CenterLine" platforms in the median of the SR-15 below to speed up service and provide a more "train-like experience." Similar platforms were added at City Heights Transit Plaza south along SR-15.

Herbert Hoover High School is a comprehensive, public secondary school located in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego, California, United States. It is part of the San Diego Unified School District. It is one of the oldest schools in San Diego.

Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) Flight 182 was a Boeing 727-214 commercial airliner, registration N533PS, that collided with a private Cessna 172 light aircraft, registration N7711G, over San Diego, California, at 9:01 am on Monday, September 25, 1978. It was Pacific Southwest Airlines' first fatal accident, and the deadliest air disaster in California history. Both aircraft crashed into North Park, a San Diego neighborhood. Flight 182 impacted just north of the intersection of Dwight and Nile streets, killing all 135 people aboard the aircraft and seven people on the ground in houses, including two children. The Cessna impacted Polk Avenue between 32nd and Iowa streets, killing the two on board. Nine others on the ground were injured and twenty-two homes were destroyed or damaged by the impact and debris.

Kensington Terrace was a proposed 56,000-square-foot (5,200 m2) mixed-use development project in the Kensington neighborhood of San Diego, California. The project was controversial. The controversy stemmed partly because of its size compared to the existing neighborhood buildings, and also due to neighborhood concerns regarding the impact on traffic and parking, and the demolition of two historically-authentic single-family houses. Due primarily to the downturn in the economy in 2008, the Kensington Terrace project was never built. Instead, beginning in 2014, a new project, named Kensington Commons, was constructed in its place. Kensington Commons has a reduced footprint at 32,000 SF, is three stories high, and has 34 apartments over 10,000 SF of commercial space.
