Lostock Hall Gatehouse is an Elizabethan building located in Lostock, a western suburb of Bolton in Greater Manchester, England. The now demolished Lostock Hall, built as a manor house for the Anderton family, was a half-timbered building with four overhanging gables. Over the entrance door were the initials CAD, representing for Christopher Anderton and his wife Dorothy, and the date 1563. Most of the rooms were wainscoted with many panels. In the 18th and early 19th centuries, the hall was used as a farmhouse. In 1816, part of the hall was pulled down, and the remainder was demolished in 1824.The gatehouse, a Grade II* listed building, is all that now remains of the hall. The main front is of ashlar and the other three sides are covered with thin coursed rubble. The central arch was originally open, which a man could ride through, is now built up with a doorway. Originally there were no windows on the ground floor, but two sash windows have been introduced between the Tuscan columns, one on each side of the door. The upper floor windows are flanked by pairs of widely spaced Ionic and Corinthian columns. Above the first-floor window is a square panel with the Anderton coat of arms, and above the second-floor window is a shield bearing the royal arms of Queen Elizabeth I with the date 1591 and the royal initials E.R. For many years the gatehouse was also used as a farmhouse, but today is a private residence.

St Joseph's Roman Catholic High School and Sports College is a voluntary aided comprehensive school located in Horwich, Greater Manchester, England. It is under trusteeship of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford and is maintained by Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council. The school is in the top 4 schools (three of which are faith schools) at GCSE in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. On 2 June 2020, the school was formally admitted as a member to the worldwide UNESCO Associated Schools Network.

Lostock railway station serves the suburbs of Heaton and Lostock in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. Built for the Liverpool and Bury Railway in 1852, the station was closed in 1966, then reopened on a smaller scale in 1988 to serve commuters. According to large scale Ordnance Survey maps and local usage, the surrounding area is named Lostock Junction and the station is referred to as such by many local people. Network Rail's "location map" uses the same name. This is similar to the situation in London where Clapham Junction railway station is in fact in Battersea, and the surrounding area has taken the name of Clapham Junction. Lostock itself is over a mile to the west of the station.

Lostock is a residential district of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of Bolton town centre and 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Manchester. Historically part of Lancashire, Lostock is bounded by Deane to the southeast, Markland Hill to the northeast, and Middlebrook to the west. Bolton Wanderers' football ground, the University of Bolton Stadium, is in nearby Horwich. After a railway station was built to serve the area in 1852, the area around the station – some 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Lostock Hall – became known as Lostock Junction. This name is still in use, although the station's name has changed to Lostock.

Lostock Junction Mills (also known as Rumworth Mill) were a pair of cotton spinning mills in Lostock, Bolton, England which stood on a narrow stretch of land between Heaton Road and the Middlebrook but have since been demolished. Mill No 1 was built in 1860 by the brothers Thomas and Joseph Rowland Heaton. In 1884 it was taken over by William Heaton and subsequently enlarged several times between 1886 and 1915. Mill No 2 was built in line next to Mill No 1 in 1900. In 1914 the business was described in Grace's Guide as cotton spinners specializing in the spinning of fine, super-combed sea island yarns, suitable for lace, muslin, harness twine, sewing thread, etc. Employees 1,200. William Heaton and Sons was formed to operate the two mills and the company's other mill at Delph Hill, Halliwell. By 1950 the company had evolved into Crosses and Heatons Ltd. In 1971 the Lostock Junction mills were closed. After demolition in 1973 they were replaced with housing based around Middlebrook Drive. The mill chimney was toppled by Fred Dibnah.

Dean Mills Reservoir is a small water reservoir to the north of the town of Bolton, Greater Manchester located high on the slopes of Winter Hill. The reservoir was constructed above the village of Barrow Bridge by John and Robert Lord. “The Lord Brothers opened a mill there in the late 18th Century using Crompton's spinning mules. With the success of this operation they built a water-powered mill further down the valley and carried out ambitious waterworks including the construction of a reservoir, waterfall and sluices to power the mill.”The dark brown appearance of the water in the reservoir is due to discolouration from the surrounding peat that naturally drains into the reservoir.It was put up for sale by auction in March 2018.

Lostock Lane railway station served the Lostock area of northwest England. It was located in a rural setting where Lostock Lane crossed the line. During industrialisation, nearby Horwich, Blackrod, and Lostock all grew rapidly, leaving Lostock Lane station with little source of traffic. The station was situated immediately west of the bridge carrying Lostock Lane. By 2015 no trace of the station could be seen, though the flattened station site remains railway property with good access for road vehicles. The double tracks through the site are well used and have been electrified. Since closure of Lostock Lane, Lostock Junction has been renamed Lostock and a new station has been opened between Lostock Lane and Blackrod called Horwich Parkway.

Holy Trinity Church, commonly known as Horwich Parish Church, is a Grade II listed building in Horwich, Greater Manchester, England. It is an active Church of England parish church and part of the Deane deanery in the archdeaconry of Bolton, diocese of Manchester. Holy Trinity Church is now part of the United Benefice of Horwich and Rivington, which includes the other two Anglican churches in Horwich, St Catherine's Church and St Elizabeth's Church, and Rivington Anglican Church.

The Winter Hill transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications site on Winter Hill, at the southern boundary of the Borough of Chorley, Lancashire and above Bolton. It is owned and operated by Arqiva.

Markland Hill is a mostly residential district of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. Historically within Lancashire, it is about 2.5 miles to the north west of the town centre. It lies on the lower south facing slopes of the West Pennine Moors. It is bounded by Lostock to the south, Doffcocker to the north, and Heaton to the east. It occupied the northern part of the Heaton township. Markland Hill County Primary School, which covers years Foundation to Year 6, is situated on Markland Hill. It is near Doffcocker Lodge lying within the Bolton Ring Road, which is locally designated as Victoria Road.
