St Laurence's Church, Catford

Catford is a district of south east London, England, and the administrative centre of the London Borough of Lewisham. It is southwest of Lewisham itself, mostly in the Rushey Green and Catford South wards. The population of Catford, including the Bellingham, London neighbourhood, was 44,905 as of 2011. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.

The Metropolitan Borough of Lewisham was a Metropolitan borough in the County of London between 1900 and 1965, when it became part of the London Borough of Lewisham along with the Metropolitan Borough of Deptford.

Lewisham Town Hall is a municipal building in Catford Road, Lewisham, London. The oldest part of the facility, the curved municipal offices, which is the headquarters of Lewisham London Borough Council, is a Grade II listed building.

The Broadway Theatre (formerly known as the Lewisham Theatre) is a theatre on Rushey Green, Catford, in the London Borough of Lewisham. A grade II listed building, the theatre was built in 1932 and is an example of Art Deco design. It has two auditoriums, an 800-seat main theatre and a small 80-seat studio theatre. The theatre's programme consists of a diverse mix of theatre and music, including stand up comedy, nostalgia shows, pantomime, drama and children's theatre.

Eros House is a Brutalist building in Catford, Lewisham, south London. It was designed by Rodney Gordon and Owen Luder and built 1960-63. The building replaced the old Eros Theater in Catford, and was part of a larger urban renewal project that also included a shopping center designed by Gordon and Luder. The building has characteristics that are typical of Luders and Gordon's brutalist architecture, including the freestanding stair tower.

Private Banks Sports Ground is a 20 acres (8.1 ha) cricket and multi-use sports ground in Catford Bridge in the London Borough of Lewisham. The ground, which was in the historic county of Kent until 1889, was used as a first-class cricket venue by Kent County Cricket Club between 1875 and 1921. In 2012, the ground was sold to the Educational Foundation of nearby independent school St Dunstan's College and renamed the Jubilee Ground. The ground is 250 metres (0.16 mi) southwest of Catford town centre. The A205 South Circular road runs along the northern edge of the ground. Catford Bridge railway station is adjacent to the ground and Catford railway station is close by. The Mid-Kent railway line runs down the western side of the ground, with the Catford Loop Line along the southwestern edge.

Maxwell Thomas Berty Confait (1945 – 21 or 22 April 1972), also known locally as Michelle and "Handbag", was a 26-year-old Seychelles-born cross-dresser who was murdered in London, England, on either 21 or 22 April 1972. The investigation into Confait's death and the convictions of three youths based on confessions of dubious validity raised questions about police procedures in the United Kingdom and caused a major review in how police treat suspects, particularly minors and the "educationally subnormal". This ultimately led to the introduction of appropriate adults to the legal system in England and Wales.

Catford Bridge railway station is on the Mid-Kent Line, serving Hayes line trains from London to Hayes. It lies between Ladywell and Lower Sydenham stations, 7 miles 42 chains (12.1 km) from London Charing Cross and in Travelcard Zone 3. It is adjacent to (and on a lower level than) Catford railway station (from which it is separated by the former Catford Stadium site) on the Catford Loop line. The station entrance is on Catford Road, a part of the South Circular Road (A205), and has brick buildings on both platforms, though the up side building is no longer in use by the railway. The station is managed by Southeastern, who operate all trains serving it.

Catford railway station is one of two stations serving the London suburb of Catford. Mainly used by commuters, it is in Travelcard Zone 3 and is on the Catford Loop Line, between Crofton Park and Bellingham. It is served mainly by Thameslink trains between West Hampstead Thameslink, London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks. Connections to London Victoria are available at Peckham Rye. Catford is 8 miles 3 chains (12.9 km) measured from Victoria. It is adjacent to, and on a higher level than, Catford Bridge railway station on the Mid-Kent Line. The two stations are separated by the site of the former Catford Stadium. Interchange on one ticket is allowed between the two stations. There is only a small shelter, a ticket machine, a few lamp-posts and a stairway on each of the two otherwise bare platforms, unlike the more ornate Catford Bridge station, which has retained most of its original architecture. Each platform has customer information screens.

The River Pool is a tributary of the River Ravensbourne. It is 5.1 km (3 miles) in length, and rises with its tributaries between Shirley and West Wickham in the London Borough of Croydon. It then flows northwards through Beckenham in the London Borough of Bromley, and Sydenham in the London Borough of Lewisham, to join the Ravensbourne in Catford. Two of its tributaries are the River Beck and the Chaffinch Brook. For much of its length the river lies in a floodplain. Land on either side is given up to sports grounds and a flood watch is kept continually on it. In New Beckenham, the River Pool Walkway, running north from Lennard Road near the Midland Bank Sports Ground and Cator Park, includes a conservation site and naturalised areas; the route is part of the National Cycle Network. At Sydenham, the section of the river that ran in a culvert under the gas works has been opened up and landscaped. In June 2009, London Mayor Boris Johnson fell into the River Pool whilst promoting volunteering to clean up the waterway.

Catford Stadium was a historic greyhound racing stadium in Catford, a suburb of London.

The Ladywell Arena is a multiple use sports arena in Ladywell in Lewisham, London, England. It is used by the Kent and Blackheath Harriers athletic clubs and the Lewisham Borough and Forest Hill Park football clubs.
