Coleherne, Earl's Court

The Troubadour at 263–267 Old Brompton Road in Earls Court, established in 1954, is one of the last remaining coffee houses of its era in London and although it has expanded over the years to incorporate the two buildings either side the original, the original coffee house remains relatively unchanged since its opening, with the cellar venue renowned as one of the primary venues of the British folk revival in the late 1950s and 1960s, as well as for regular jazz gigs. Other notable coffee house venues of the time that hosted musicians of note included Les Cousins and Bunjies, both of which have since closed leaving the Troubadour as one of the last venues where it is still possible to experience something close to what it was like.

The Princess Beatrice Hospital was a London hospital located in Earl's Court, which operated from 1887 to 1978, latterly as a maternity hospital.

Earl's Court Square is a garden square in Earl's Court, London, England. It was developed from 1872 or 1873 on agricultural land belonging to the Edwardes family. It is primarily made up of stuccoed terraced houses with Italianate dressings but also contains properties in the Jacobean and Second Empire styles as well as a number of purpose built apartment blocks. Notable former inhabitants include the choreographer Sir Frederick Ashton, Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, and the ordnance inventor Sir William Palliser. In the 1970s the "Battle of Earl's Court" was fought between traditionalist and modernist factions at the Poetry Bookshop in the Square.

Coleherne Court is a large apartment block on the Old Brompton Road in the Earl's Court district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Coleherne Court stands on the site of the former Coleherne House and Hereford House. It was built between 1901 and 1904. It was constructed in red brick and Portland stone.

Old Brompton Road is a major street in the South Kensington district of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. It starts from South Kensington Underground station and runs south-west, through a mainly residential area, until it reaches West Brompton and the area around Earl's Court tube station. It runs through the SW5 and SW7 postcodes. There are several 5-star hotels and upmarket shops along the road. One of the most famous auction houses in the world, Christie's, was located near the eastern end of the road at number 85. The Coleherne pub (now The Pembroke), located at number 261, has become infamous for being the stalking ground for three serial killers, Dennis Nilsen, Michael Lupo and Colin Ireland. It is also mentioned in the song 'Hanging Around' by The Stranglers, as well as in Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City book Babycakes. Another landmark of the road is the Troubadour which has been a cultural hub for over fifty years. The coffee-house above, now a restaurant, has hosted the founding of Private Eye and the writing of many books, while the club below has been a venue for Bob Dylan and Adele. The Drayton Arms is a Grade II listed pub and theatre at number 153. The most famous resident was Diana, Princess of Wales before her 1981 engagement and subsequent marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales. She shared a flat with three others before subsequently moving on to Clarence House. The road is sometimes confused with Brompton Road which lies further to the east, in Knightsbridge.

St Luke's, Redcliffe Gardens, is an Anglican church in Redcliffe Gardens, bordering on Redcliffe Square, London. It was built in 1872–73 to designs by George and Henry Godwin. It has been Grade II listed since 2003.Pevsner describes it as "the last and the grandest of the three Kensington churches by the Godwins". The other two are St Mary, The Boltons (1849–50) and St Jude's, Courtfield Gardens (1870). It's chiefly remarkable for the quantity of sculptural embellishment, he says, including the celebration of Psalm 150 in the sanctuary.During the early 1950s composer Francis Routh began holding new music concerts in the church that led to the Redcliffe Festival between 1957 and 1961, and to the formation of the Redcliffe Concerts of British Music series (1963-1989).

The Finborough Theatre is a fifty-seat theatre in the West Brompton area of London (part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea) under artistic director Neil McPherson. The theatre presents new British writing, as well as UK and world premieres of new plays primarily from the English speaking world including North America, Canada, Ireland, and Scotland including work in the Scots language, alongside rarely seen rediscovered 19th and 20th century plays. The venue also presents new and rediscovered music theatre.

Redcliffe Square is a town square located in the Brompton area of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, southwest of central London, (postcode SW10). Redcliffe Square Gardens are located in the square. The development was part of the vast Gunter estate, during 1864–1878.Redcliffe Gardens runs northwest–southeast through the square. To the east is The Boltons. To the southwest is Brompton Cemetery. The square is home to St Luke's Church, Redcliffe Gardens and Redcliffe School's early years and pre-prep school.

Hesper Mews is a mews street in the Earl's Court district of London, England. It runs between Bramham Gardens and Collingham Gardens and was laid-out in 1884-85 as part of the Gunter Estate, developed in the nineteenth century by James Gunter and his descendants. Houses in the Mews are much smaller than in the higher-class streets adjacent and were used as accommodation for servants and stabling for horses. Later they were home to drivers and their vehicles, and from the mid-twentieth century were increasingly occupied by middle and upper-class families.

The A3220 is a primary A road in London. It runs north from Clapham Common to the A40 Westway at Ladbroke Grove. The road crosses the River Thames at Battersea Bridge. Turning left at the northern end of the bridge, the A3220 follows the northern bank of the Thames for some 500 m before swinging northwestward and becoming two separate roads as part of a one-way system. 500 m after crossing the A315, the route returns to being a standard bidirectional single-carriageway road for some 750 m as far as the Holland Park roundabout, from where it forms the dual-carriageway West Cross Route, formerly the M41 motorway.

Earl's Court tube station is a Grade II listed London Underground station in Earl's Court, London, on the District and Piccadilly lines. It is an important interchange for both lines and is situated in both Travelcard Zone 1 and Zone 2. The station has an eastern entrance on Earl's Court Road and a western entrance on Warwick Road (both part of A3220). Another former entrance allowed passengers to enter the station from the other side of Warwick Road, via a ticket hall and subway leading to a concourse beneath the District line platforms. Earl's Court is a step-free tube station; the Earls Court Road entrance provides lift access between street and platform levels. The station was opened by the District Railway in 1871, two years after the line was built, and had become a hub to five different local routes by 1874. It was damaged by fire the following year, and a new station was constructed on the other side of Earl's Court Road, opening in 1878. A connection to the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (now the Piccadilly Line) opened in 1906. Earl's Court was the first tube station with escalators, which were added in 1911. Major redevelopment and rebuilding work occurred in 1915, 1936–37 and 2005.

West Brompton is an area of south-west London, that straddles the boundary between the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The centuries-old boundary was traced by Counter's Creek, now lost beneath the West London Line railway.
