Aquidneck Island, officially known as Rhode Island, is an island in Narragansett Bay in the state of Rhode Island. The total land area is 37.8 sq mi (98 km2), which makes it the largest island in the bay. The 2020 United States Census reported its population as 60,109. The state of Rhode Island is named after the island; the United States Board on Geographic Names recognizes Rhode Island as the name for the island, although it is widely referred to as Aquidneck Island in the state and by the island's residents. Aquidneck Island is home to three towns: from north to south, Portsmouth, Middletown, and Newport.

The Union Church is an historic church and local history museum owned by the Portsmouth Historical Society at 870 East Main Road at Union Street in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. One exhibit room is dedicated to Julia Ward Howe and includes a collection of furniture from her summer home in Portsmouth and a display about her life.

The Lawton–Almy–Hall Farm is an historic farm at 559 Union Street in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The farm comprises 40 acres (16 ha) of land, and a well-preserved farm complex with elements dating to the 18th century. The land was first granted in 1648 to George Lawton, and was owned by six generations of the family. It was acquired in 1832 by Peleg Almy, whose family owned it until 1938, when it was sold to the Halls. The farmhouse is one of the oldest in the area, with its northern section estimated to have been built about 1700, based on stylistic resemblance to the Quaker Meetinghouse (c. 1699) and a local schoolhouse (c. 1725).The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Oak Glen is a historic house at 745 Union Street in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, with a highly pitched gambrel roof and jerkin-headed (clipped) gable ends. The house was built about 1870 by Samuel and Julia Ward Howe as a summer retreat. The ell attached to the rear of the house is a c. 1850 cottage which was standing on the site when the Howes purchased the property. After Samuel Howe died in 1876, Julia (best known as the author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic") made this her permanent home. She died here on October 17, 1910, at the age of 91. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Dennis J. Murphy House at Ogden Farm is a historic house at 641 Mitchell's Lane in Middletown, Rhode Island. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure with vernacular Queen Anne styling, built c. 1900 for Dennis J. Murphy, the son of a local farmer. The house has a cross-gable roof line, and its exterior is adorned by decorative bargeboard trim, turned columns on the porches, brackets in the eaves, and other details which typify the Queen Anne period. Its porch was originally more extensive when built, but it was damaged in the New England Hurricane of 1938 and reduced in scope.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Newport State Airport (IATA: NPT, ICAO: KUUU, FAA LID: UUU) (officially known as the Colonel Robert F. Wood Air Park) is a state-owned public-use airport in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. It serves the city of Newport and is located 2 nmi (2.3 mi; 3.7 km) northeast of its central business district. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility. There is no scheduled airline service available, but it once was served by Air New England. Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned UUU by the FAA and NPT by the IATA (which assigned UUU to Manumu, Papua New Guinea).Newport State Airport is one of six active airports operated by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, the other five being T.F. Green State Airport, North Central State Airport, Westerly State Airport, Quonset State Airport, and Block Island State Airport.

Greenvale Farm is an historic farm and 19th-century summer estate at 582 Wapping Road in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Historically used for farmland, a portion of this 53-acre (21 ha) was transformed into an expansive country estate in the 1860s by John Barstow, a Boston merchant. It is located at the end of a narrow dirt lane, and is set overlooking the Sakonnet River. The main house, designed by John Hubbard Sturgis and built in 1864–65, is an exuberant implementation of the Stick style with Gothic features. It has asymmetric form, with a variety of projections, dormers, gables, and cross-gables, with a variety of exterior finishes. The estate continues to be owned by Barstow descendants.The estate was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Bailey Farm is an historic farm at 373 Wyatt Road in Middletown, Rhode Island. Now reduced from more than 100 acres (40 ha) to about 45 acres (18 ha), the farm is a well-preserved example of a 19th-century island farm. It was owned by members of the Bailey family, possibly as early as the late 17th century, into the 19th century. The original main house appears to be a mid-18th century structure that was given a significant Greek Revival treatment in the 19th century. It is a 1-1/2 story Cape style house, three bays wide, with a central chimney. The main entrance is centered on the northern facade, and is flanked by sidelight windows and pilasters, with an entablature above. The corners of the building are pilastered. A series of outbuildings stand nearby. There is a second complex of buildings on the northwest part of the property, built in the 1930s near the location of the Bailey family cemetery.The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Skater Island was a skate park located in Middletown, Rhode Island, USA. This park was bought by the Flynn, Hall and O'Niel families of Rhode Island because residents in the state felt the need for such a recreation area to support people's interest in sports related to the facility. The park included state-of-the-art designs for skateboarders and for bikers. The park was featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 in 2001. The park was closed in May 2004 as a result of the building's roof collapsing.

Prescott Farm is a historic preservation of a colonial farm in Middletown (Newport County), Rhode Island. It spans 40 acres, and was in danger of demolition before Doris Duke bought it in 1973 and began restoration of the historical site. Notable features of it include an operational windmill (c. 1812), British General Prescott's Guard House, a county store (c. 1715), and a University of Rhode Island Master Gardener project with the purpose of simulating a historical vegetable garden through careful research on what crops where grown during that time period. The farm itself is typical of the farms on Aquidneck Island.

Middletown is a town in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 17,075 at the 2020 census. It lies to the south of Portsmouth and to the north of Newport on Aquidneck Island, hence the name "Middletown."

The Whitehall Museum House is the farmhouse modified by Dean George Berkeley, when he lived in the northern section of Newport, Rhode Island that comprises present-day Middletown in 1729–1731, while working to open his planned St Paul's College on Bermuda. It is also known as Berkeley House or Bishop George Berkeley House and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
