University for the Creative Arts, Rochester

Fort Pitt is a Napoleonic era fort on the high ground of the boundary between Chatham and Rochester, Kent. A fort on the site was proposed as early as 1779 by Hugh Debbieg, then Chief Engineer at Chatham. In 1783 the land was purchased by the Board of Ordnance and 4.5 million bricks were deposited there in preparation for construction. (Nothing immediately followed, however, and the bricks were instead used for the rebuilding of the Lines).The fort was finally built between 1805 and 1819. At that point, the Napoleonic Wars having ended, it ceased being manned as a fort and instead became an important military hospital. In the 1820s-50s it was the only General (as opposed to regimental) Military Hospital in England, and, until the opening of Netley Hospital in 1863, it was considered the de facto Headquarters of the Army Medical Department. Fort Pitt Hospital closed in the 1920s, since when the surviving buildings have housed a girls' grammar school.

St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Rochester was founded in 1078 for the care of the poor and lepers. It survived as a charity until taken over with the founding of the National Health Service. The hospital closed permanently in September 2016.

Fort Pitt Grammar School is a selective girls' grammar school with academy status in Chatham, Kent. Built on Fort Pitt Hill on the site of a Napoleonic era fort, it is situated next to the former Rochester campus of the University for the Creative Arts, which closed in 2023.

Rochester and Chatham was a parliamentary constituency in Kent which returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1950 until it was abolished for the 1983 general election. It largely replaced the former Chatham constituency, which had taken some of the previous Rochester seat in 1918. In turn it gave way to the Medway constituency in 1983, which was renamed Rochester and Strood in 2010.

Chatham Central was the terminus of the Chatham Extension from Strood serving the towns of Chatham and Rochester. The station was opened by the South Eastern Railway which merged with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway to form the South Eastern and Chatham Railway in 1899. After the merger the SE & CR deemed that the Chatham Extension was an unnecessary duplication of the line and stations that it inherited from the LC & DR, and therefore the Extension and its stations, including Chatham Central, was closed in 1911. Apart from the present railway bridge (part of Rochester Bridge), no trace of the station or the Chatham Extension is evident today. Houses on Doust Way have been built over the site of the station.

St John Fisher Catholic Comprehensive School (simply referred to as SJF) is an 11–18 mixed, Roman Catholic, voluntary aided secondary school and sixth form in Chatham, Kent, England. It was established in 1964 and is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark. It is one of two genuine comprehensive schools in Medway, an authority that retains selection. Pupils also travel in from Sittingbourne and Sheppey in Kent. It is the only Catholic secondary school within the local authority and the only secondary school with two campuses. The main campus at Ordnance Street is for year 9 to 13, while years 7 and 8 are on a campus known as the Lower School, at 79 Maidstone Road.Planning permission was given in March 2021, for the school to consolidate on a single site on City Way on existing playing fields.

The Richard was a 70-gun second-rate ship of the line of the navy of the Commonwealth of England, built by the Master Shipwright Christopher Pett at Woolwich Dockyard, and launched in 1658. She was named after Richard Cromwell, to honour his appointment as the Protector in succession to his late father Oliver Cromwell.After the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660, her name was changed to HMS Royal James, and she was re-registered as a first rate ship of the line in the Royal Navy. This involved adding gunports in the waist on the upper deck, where previously she had carried no guns, and consequently her rating was raised to 82 guns. She took part in all three major naval battles of the Second Dutch War. At the Battle of Lowestoft on 3 June 1665, she was the flagship of Prince Rupert, a role she reprised a year later during the Four Days Battle on 4 June 1666. She also took part in the St James's Day Fight on 25 July 1666. She was present at the raid on the Medway in 1667, where first she was sunk to prevent capture, and then those parts above water burnt by the Dutch fireships.

Chatham railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the town of Chatham, Kent. It is 34 miles 25 chains (55.2 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Rochester and Gillingham. The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern. Following a timetable change on Sunday 20 May 2018, some trains are operated by Govia Thameslink. There are two platforms, one for each direction and both capable of accommodating 12-coach trains. There are tunnels at either end of the station: Fort Pitt Tunnel (428 yards) at the London end, and Chatham Tunnel (297 yards) at the country end.

Rochester Independent College (RIC) is an Independent Schools Council accredited co-educational, private day and boarding school, in Rochester, United Kingdom. It was established in 1984.

St. Catherine's Hospital, Rochester was an English, leper hospital founded in 1315. By the end of the eighteenth century it had become an almshouse charity and moved to its present buildings at the top of Star Hill. In 1975 it merged with the Richard Watts Charity.

St Michael the Archangel Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Chatham, Kent, England. It was built from 1862 to 1863 in the Romanesque Revival style, designed by Henry Clutton. In 1935, an extension was built, designed by the Frederick Walters and Son firm. It is situated on Hill's Terrace between Rochester Street and Maidstone Road, next to Chatham railway station. When built, it was the only Catholic church in Medway.

KMFM Extra was a DAB radio station based in Rochester and broadcasting to the county of Kent, South East England. It was part of the KMFM group of radio stations in the county, which are part of the KM Group. The station offered a "cutting edge alternative" to KMFM which played everything from Girls Aloud to Kanye West. The station broadcast from the Medway studios and featured non-stop music, apart from commercials and the hourly news bulletins containing local and entertainment news. KMFM Extra was available through parts of Kent, although not near the coastal area due to weak DAB signals. The station was based on Sir Thomas Longley Road in Rochester, along with KMFM Medway.
