Eastern Goleta Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Barbara County, California, United States. It is located between Goleta to the west, Santa Barbara to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the south, and the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

San Marcos High School is a public high school located in a suburban area two miles from the city of Santa Barbara, California. Accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the school was named a California Distinguished School in 1994 and 2005, and a Gold Ribbon School in 2015.

Noleta is an unofficial name used to designate the unincorporated urban area between Goleta and Santa Barbara in California, United States. It is bounded on the east by Santa Barbara and Hope Ranch, on the west by Goleta, on the north by the Santa Ynez Mountains and on the south by the Pacific Ocean, and largely includes the zip codes 93105, 93110, and 93111. Approximately 30,000 people live in the area. The area is called Noleta because of its history of voting "no" on incorporation with the City of Goleta (i.e. "no" to "Goleta"), and as a pun on the more famous neighborhood "North of Little Italy" in New York City. As it is unincorporated, the area is under county government administration. While Noleta has a history of voting "no" on incorporation, neither the City of Santa Barbara nor Goleta have attempted to annex the Noleta area. Both communities are reluctant to absorb the community because the area's tax base does not generate enough revenue to pay for the services it requires. Nevertheless, both cities compete to influence the community. The reluctance of "Noleta-ers" to incorporate is largely based on a variety of reasons including: reluctance to have a Goleta address reluctance of some home owners to incur the regulatory restrictions of either Goleta or Santa Barbara differing views on the numbers, density and siting of new housing in the area.As an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County, residents are addressed by the US Postal Service as Santa Barbara.

Thomas Hope House is a historic ranch home located in Santa Barbara, California. Constructed in 1875, the home had several owners before being renovated in 1968. The home was designated as a Santa Barbara County historic landmark in 1969 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The San Marcos Foothills Preserve is a 301–acre open space located between Santa Barbara and Goleta, California and owned by the County of Santa Barbara Parks Division. The preserve provides views of the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and the Channel Islands. The preserve provides feeding grounds for many dozens of birds, including American kestrels, kites, hawks, roadrunners, and for other animals including bobcats and coyotes. The preserve is open for low-impact recreation to the public, which includes hiking/running on trails, and bird watching. The preserve is considered a bird watching “hotspot” by the birding community Since it is a nature preserve, high-impact uses such as bicycling, horseback riding and off-leash dogs are not allowed.

Bishop García Diego High School (BGDHS) is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Santa Barbara, California. Established in 1959, the school is named for Bishop Francisco García Diego y Moreno, the first bishop of the Diocese of the Two Californias.

Rancho La Goleta was a 4,426-acre (17.91 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Barbara County, California given in 1846 by Governor Pío Pico to Daniel A. Hill. The grant extended along the Pacific coast from today’s Fairview Avenue in present-day Goleta, east to Hope Ranch. The grant was adjacent to Rancho Dos Pueblos granted to his son-in-law Nicolas A. Den in 1842.

Goleta (; Spanish: [ɡoˈleta]; Spanish for "Schooner") is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California, United States. It was incorporated as a city in 2002, after a long period as the largest unincorporated populated area in the county. As of the 2000 census, the census-designated place had a total population of 55,204. A significant portion of the census territory of 2000 did not incorporate into the new city. The population of Goleta was 32,690 at the 2020 census. It is known for being near the University of California, Santa Barbara, campus.

The Sexton House in Goleta, California is a two-story Italianate style house that was built in 1880. It was designed by architect Peter J. Barber. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1992 as 'Joseph and Lucy Foster Sexton House. The listing includes, in addition to the main house, four contributing structures, two objects, and one site on a 1.5-acre (0.61 ha) property. Photos included with its NRHP nomination show a pentagonal pool, a built-in china cabinet, a faux marble fireplace.It was designated as one of seven Historic Landmarks by the City of Goleta when it adopted its Historic Preservation and Archaeological & Tribal Cultural Resources Ordinance in 2022. The original owner, Joseph Sexton, was a horticulturist who planted trees and shrubs on the property that, in 1991, partially screened the house from busy Hollister Avenue.The house was damaged in the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake; in 1926 three porches were removed.The house was restored during 1990-91 as part of the development of a Quality Suites Inn, which is a 75-unit motor hotel.The home still remains on the original property. The house currently shares the site with the Steward Hotel. The second floor of the home is now a one bedroom apartment that is leased out to long term corporate guests. The first floor is available for business and social functions.

La Cumbre Plaza is an outdoor shopping center located in Santa Barbara, California. The first property built by The Hahn Company, La Cumbre Plaza opened in 1967 and was purchased by Macerich in 2004. Macerich now holds a long-term lease, which goes through 2077 without ownership of the 31-acre site (13 ha). The shopping center spans 491,000 sq ft (45,600 m2) and is anchored by a Macy's.
