Laguna Blanca (California)

Laguna Blanca School is a private school located on two different campuses, in Santa Barbara and nearby Montecito, California. Founded in 1933, Laguna Blanca is an independent, co-educational, college-preparatory day school for students in grades K-12 in Santa Barbara.

Rancho Las Positas y La Calera was a 3,282-acre (13.28 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Barbara County, California. The grant consisted of two parts:- "La Calera" (The Lime Kiln) given in 1843 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Narciso Fabregat, and "Las Positas" (Spanish for "little pools", the diminutive form of "las pozas" - probably referring to water from Veronica Springs) given in 1846 by Governor Pío Pico to Thomas M. Robbins. The grant was the northwest of the pueblo and Presidio of Santa Barbara, and encompassed the present day Hope Ranch, Hidden Valley, and Campanil neighborhoods.

Thomas Hope House is a historic ranch home located in Santa Barbara, California. Constructed in 1875, the home had several owners before being renovated in 1968. The home was designated as a Santa Barbara County historic landmark in 1969 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

La Cumbre Plaza is an outdoor shopping center located in Santa Barbara, California. The first property built by The Hahn Company, La Cumbre Plaza opened in 1967 and was purchased by Macerich in 2004. Macerich now holds a long-term lease, which goes through 2077 without ownership of the 31-acre site (13 ha). The shopping center spans 491,000 sq ft (45,600 m2) and is anchored by a Macy's.

Bishop García Diego High School (BGDHS) is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Santa Barbara, California. Established in 1959, the school is named for Bishop Francisco García Diego y Moreno, the first bishop of the Diocese of the Two Californias.

San Marcos High School is a public high school located in a suburban area two miles from the city of Santa Barbara, California. Accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the school was named a California Distinguished School in 1994 and 2005, and a Gold Ribbon School in 2015.

Elings Park (formerly Las Positas Friendship Park) is a 230-acre (0.93 km2) non-profit park located in Santa Barbara, California east of Las Positas Road and south of U.S. Highway 101. It is the largest privately funded park in America. The park consists of sports fields, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, wedding/special event venues, and landscaped walkways. The park is a hub for mountain biking, youth sports, paragliding, and other outdoor activities. Elings Park International Raceway is the only dedicated radio control (R/C) off-road course in Santa Barbara and Elings Park BMX Raceway is the only dedicated BMX track in Santa Barbara as well. The north side of the park is built on top of the old, now-closed Santa Barbara City dump. The park's grand opening was in 1985, and it has changed names several times: at first it was "Las Positas Park"; in 1991 it became "Las Positas Friendship Park"; and in 1999, in honor of more than two million dollars given by Virgil Elings and his family, the park was renamed "Elings Park."

Noleta is an unofficial name used to designate the unincorporated urban area between Goleta and Santa Barbara in California, United States. It is bounded on the east by Santa Barbara and Hope Ranch, on the west by Goleta, on the north by the Santa Ynez Mountains and on the south by the Pacific Ocean, and largely includes the zip codes 93105, 93110, and 93111. Approximately 30,000 people live in the area. The area is called Noleta because of its history of voting "no" on incorporation with the City of Goleta (i.e. "no" to "Goleta"), and as a pun on the more famous neighborhood "North of Little Italy" in New York City. As it is unincorporated, the area is under county government administration. While Noleta has a history of voting "no" on incorporation, neither the City of Santa Barbara nor Goleta have attempted to annex the Noleta area. Both communities are reluctant to absorb the community because the area's tax base does not generate enough revenue to pay for the services it requires. Nevertheless, both cities compete to influence the community. The reluctance of "Noleta-ers" to incorporate is largely based on a variety of reasons including: reluctance to have a Goleta address reluctance of some home owners to incur the regulatory restrictions of either Goleta or Santa Barbara differing views on the numbers, density and siting of new housing in the area.As an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County, residents are addressed by the US Postal Service as Santa Barbara.

The San Marcos Foothills Preserve is a 301–acre open space located between Santa Barbara and Goleta, California and owned by the County of Santa Barbara Parks Division. The preserve provides views of the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and the Channel Islands. The preserve provides feeding grounds for many dozens of birds, including American kestrels, kites, hawks, roadrunners, and for other animals including bobcats and coyotes. The preserve is open for low-impact recreation to the public, which includes hiking/running on trails, and bird watching. The preserve is considered a bird watching “hotspot” by the birding community Since it is a nature preserve, high-impact uses such as bicycling, horseback riding and off-leash dogs are not allowed.

San Roque (Spanish for "Saint Roch") is a primarily residential neighborhood in Santa Barbara, California, located northwest of downtown. For planning purposes, the City of Santa Barbara uses two designations for this area, San Roque and East San Roque. The area takes its name from San Roque creek, which was named by early Spanish settlers after Saint Roch. A rural farming area until the 20th century, San Roque's first residential subdivision was developed in 1917 by Stephen Rutherford and called Rutherford Park. The streets were laid out in an irregular grid transected by spokes from a central circular street, Argonne Circle. Argonne Circle was named in memory of Rutherford's son, Lawrie, who died in the WWI battle of the Argonne forest. In 1926, plans were approved for the San Roque Country Club and golf course to occupy much of the area adjacent to Rutherford Park, but development stalled due to the Great Depression and in 1939 portions of the unbuilt golf course land were donated to the city of Santa Barbara to become San Roque Park and Stevens Park. In 1928, Peabody Elementary School was built in San Roque in response to population growth, and in 1937 the parochial San Roque School was established. Between 1945 and 1970, residential development filled in the remaining unbuilt lots, and commercial development spread along State St. bordering San Roque.

Eastern Goleta Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Barbara County, California, United States. It is located between Goleta to the west, Santa Barbara to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the south, and the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Arroyo Burro Beach, also known as Hendry's Beach by local residents, is a public beach in Santa Barbara County, California. Located off of Cliff Drive, it is the terminus of Arroyo Burro Creek, and stands at the foot of the Santa Barbara coastal bluffs of the Wilcox Property (i.e. Douglas Family Preserve), which is adjacent to the east. The community of Hope Ranch is about 1 mi (1.6 km) to the west. Arroyo Burro has a reputation as a dog beach and is a popular location for dog owners to walk their pets off leash, though Arroyo Burro itself is actually on-leash (the off-leash area is just east below the Douglas Family Preserve). Surfers also frequent the beach's waters, and outdoor showers facilitate the sport. The beach's other recreational features include a grassy area with picnic tables and barbecue grills, the Arroyo Burro County Park building which houses a restaurant and snack bar with outdoor and indoor seating, and a building constructed out of recycled and reclaimed materials that houses an ecological education center known as the Watershed Resource Center. The park officially opens at 8:00 am and closes at sunset, at which time entrance to the (free) parking lot is prohibited. However, vehicles parked before sunset can remain into the evening hours. A once popular restaurant known as The Brown Pelican formerly situated overlooking the beach closed in November 2007, after the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors declined to renew their lease of twenty-five years. The Boathouse opened up in August 2008 in its place, with new owners and significant remodeling.
