Grey Cloud Island Township is a township in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 307 at the 2010 census. The township formerly included all of Lower Grey Cloud Island but that area has been annexed by the neighboring city of Cottage Grove. Since then the township has been made up of Upper Grey Cloud Island, an area to the north bounded by Grey Cloud Trail and Geneva Avenue, and a small piece of Lower Grey Cloud Island.

The Reuben Freeman House is a unique home, it sports eight gables and was built 1887 in Inver Grove Heights in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Freeman was a German immigrant farmer who collected stones from his acreage to build his coursed fieldstone house. Bottle glass adorns the masonry around the second-story windows, further proving his eccentricity.

Park High School is a high school in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, United States, part of the South Washington County School District. The school was opened in 1914 In St. Paul Park, on 3rd St. It was moved to a newer building in Cottage Grove in 1965.

Cottage Grove is a city 10 miles (16 km) south of Saint Paul in Washington County in the State of Minnesota. It lies on the north bank of the Mississippi River, north of the confluence with the St. Croix River. Cottage Grove and nearby suburbs form the southeast portion of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with about 3.69 million residents. Its population was 38,839 at the 2020 census.The city is linked by U.S. Highways 10 and 61 and has a comfortable commute to both downtowns and the I-494 Strip in Bloomington. Once a rural township known for the state's first creameries and wheat production, the area was served by rail lines, river shipping, and grist mills. 3M has operated a production facility in Cottage Grove since 1947.

The Rock Island Swing Bridge was a swing bridge that spanned the Mississippi River between Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and St. Paul Park, Minnesota. It was also known as the Newport Rail Bridge, as it had a spur to Newport, Minnesota, and J.A.R. bridge, after previous owners Joan and Al Roman of Chicago. It was one of the few double-decker bridges on the Mississippi, with the top level formerly used for railroad traffic and the bottom level formerly used as a road crossing. It also was one of a few toll bridges in Minnesota, and one of the last remaining ones. It closed to rail traffic in 1980, and road traffic in 1999, when the toll was 75 cents. After closing, the bridge sat dormant in the open position for 10 years before being partially demolished in 2009. It was converted into a recreational pier, which was open to the public on June 11, 2011.

Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TIZA) was a K-8 school in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota named after Tarek ibn Ziyad, the muslim general of medieval Morocco who entered Gibraltar in 711 CE on behalf of the Umayyad Caliphate and defeated the Visigoths. The school is sponsored by Islamic Relief USA. The school has a primarily Muslim student body and has been embroiled in a number of controversies regarding the separation of church and state. The school has a waiting list of 1,500 students. Around 80% of students are English language learners. Despite this, the school has one of the highest reading scores on standardized tests in the state. As of July 2011 TiZA has been shut down by order of the Minnesota Education Department, due to lack of an approved charter school sponsor.

The Pine Bend Refinery is the largest oil refinery in Minnesota, located in the Twin Cities suburbs of Rosemount and Inver Grove Heights next to southern split of U.S. Highway 52 and Minnesota State Highway 55. The refinery is notable for being the largest in the United States to be located in a state without any oil wells. Overall, it ranked 14th in the country as of 2012 by production, with a nameplate capacity of 320,000 barrels (51,000 m3) per day. The facility is owned by Flint Hills Resources (FHR), a subsidiary of Koch Industries.

Newport is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,797 at the 2020 census. According to 2022 census estimates, the city is estimated to have a population of 4,820.

Nininger Township is a township in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 865 at the 2000 census.

The Good Templars Hall is a Greek Revival style public building that was built in 1858 in Nininger in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The Nininger Chapter of the Independent Order of Good Templars, a temperance group, built the two-story hall to have a place for socializing without alcohol. When the railroad bypassed Nininger in 1859, the town began to fail, and the building was sold to the school district. In the late 1870s the first floor was removed due to decay, and the upper floor and roof were lowered to the ground level. The building was renovated by an historical group and used as a community center until it was moved to the Little Log House Pioneer Village in 2005. A plaque has been erected near its original location.
