Cottage Grove is a city 10 miles (16 km) south of Saint Paul in Washington County in the State of Minnesota. It lies on the north bank of the Mississippi River, north of the confluence with the St. Croix River. Cottage Grove and nearby suburbs form the southeast portion of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with about 3.69 million residents. Its population was 38,839 at the 2020 census.The city is linked by U.S. Highways 10 and 61 and has a comfortable commute to both downtowns and the I-494 Strip in Bloomington. Once a rural township known for the state's first creameries and wheat production, the area was served by rail lines, river shipping, and grist mills. 3M has operated a production facility in Cottage Grove since 1947.

The Cordenio Severance House is a mansion in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, United States, built for attorney Cordenio Severance (1862–1925). The mansion, also known as Cedarhurst, was first built as a simple country farm house shortly after the American Civil War. It was expanded in 1886 to serve as the summer residence of the Severance family. Between 1911 and 1917, additions designed by architect Cass Gilbert expanded the house into a mansion with 12,000 square feet (1,100 m2) and 26 rooms. The Cordenio Severance House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and law. It was nominated for its association with Cordenio Severance, a leading attorney in Saint Paul, Minnesota, from 1887 to the 1920s, and for being an example of a grand country estate. The mansion now serves as an event venue.

The Charles Spangenberg Farmstead is a historic farm in Woodbury, Minnesota, United States, established in 1869. The three oldest buildings, including an 1871 farmhouse, were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 for having local significance in the theme of agriculture. The property was nominated for being one of Washington County's few remaining 19th-century farmsteads.

St. Paul Park or Saint Paul Park is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,279 at the 2010 census. It is on the east bank of the Mississippi River, five miles (8 km) downstream from St. Paul.

WCTS (1030 kHz, "The Bible Station") is a non-commercial AM radio station licensed to Maplewood, Minnesota, and serving the Twin Cities. The radio studios and offices are in Plymouth. By day, WCTS transmits 50,000 watts, the maximum for AM stations. Because 1030 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for WBZ in Boston, WCTS reduces power to 4,000 watts at night and uses a directional antenna at all times, with a five-tower array at night. The transmitter is on Woodbury Drive at Glacial Valley Road in Woodbury. Programming is also heard on 250 watt FM translator K250BY at 97.9 MHz in Plymouth.

It is licensed to Saint Paul, Minnesota, although it was licensed to Hudson, Wisconsin from 1997 to 2005. The station's signal covers the Minneapolis-St. Paul media market. The transmitter and towers are located in Woodbury, Minnesota along South Washington County Highway 19. WREY broadcasts a Regional Mexican music format, at 3,000 watts by day and 2,400 watts at night.WREY simulcasts on FM translator station W235CT (94.9) St. Paul.

Grey Cloud Island Township is a township in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 307 at the 2010 census. The township formerly included all of Lower Grey Cloud Island but that area has been annexed by the neighboring city of Cottage Grove. Since then the township has been made up of Upper Grey Cloud Island, an area to the north bounded by Grey Cloud Trail and Geneva Avenue, and a small piece of Lower Grey Cloud Island.

The John P. Furber House is a historic house in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, United States, built in 1871, the same year Furber officially platted the 20-year-old settlement. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for having local significance in the theme of community planning and development. It was nominated for its association with the phenomenon in early Washington County towns of platting well after communities had already been established.

New Life Academy of Woodbury is a private Christian school located in Woodbury, Minnesota, United States. The school is available for preschool through 12th grade and there are about 750 students. New Life Academy of Woodbury, along with New Life Church of Woodbury, was founded in 1977 by Pastor Dick and Patti Wiens. New Life Academy is still closely tied to New Life Church. It is the largest Christian school in the eastern Twin Cities metro area.

Newport is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,797 at the 2020 census. According to 2022 census estimates, the city is estimated to have a population of 4,820.

The Rock Island Swing Bridge was a swing bridge that spanned the Mississippi River between Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and St. Paul Park, Minnesota. It was also known as the Newport Rail Bridge, as it had a spur to Newport, Minnesota, and J.A.R. bridge, after previous owners Joan and Al Roman of Chicago. It was one of the few double-decker bridges on the Mississippi, with the top level formerly used for railroad traffic and the bottom level formerly used as a road crossing. It also was one of a few toll bridges in Minnesota, and one of the last remaining ones. It closed to rail traffic in 1980, and road traffic in 1999, when the toll was 75 cents. After closing, the bridge sat dormant in the open position for 10 years before being partially demolished in 2009. It was converted into a recreational pier, which was open to the public on June 11, 2011.
