Sardine Creek historical past can only start 1853, after a long chase starting atop Table rock Mountain down the backside north-west Along the River that the native American called Gold River, later to be given Rogue River chased through the area that was not yet called Gold Hill

The Southern Oregon AVA is an American Viticultural Area which lies in Southern Oregon, United States. The Southern Oregon AVA was established in 2005 and was created to include the land of two smaller AVAs: the Rogue Valley AVA and the Umpqua Valley AVA. Southern Oregon AVA was established to allow the two principal winegrowing regions in the southern part of the state to market themselves jointly. This creation of a "super-AVA" is a departure from the trend in the Willamette Valley AVA or northern Oregon of establishing smaller AVAs specific to a particular locale's climate or soil conditions.

Galls Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is a tributary to the Rogue River. Galls Creek was named in the 1850s after one Jacob Gall.

Rock Point is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. Rock Point lies just north of an I-5 and Oregon Route 99 interchange along the Rogue River between the cities of Rogue River and Gold Hill.The community's name derives from the geologic formations at this location. Writers have sometime referred to the location as Point of Rocks, and early settlers called it Dardanelles. A Dardanelles post office opened near here on October 19, 1852, with William G. T'Vault as postmaster. The T'Vault property was on the south side of the river east of Rock Point.Rock Point was an important stop for travelers in the 19th century. A tavern built here in the 1870s is still standing. The community also had a railroad station named Rock Point and a Rock Point post office that operated from 1859 through 1912 with John B. White as the first postmaster. The community is known for a "fine concrete arch" bridge that was built by McCullough 1919, that carries the old Pacific Highway (Route 99) over the river.

Lyman Mountain is a summit in the U.S. state of Oregon. The elevation is 2,720 feet (830 m).Lyman Mountain was named in 1894 after George S. Lyman, owner of a local apple orchard.It is located 16.3 miles (26.2 km) northwest of Medford and 15.6 miles (25.1 km) east of Grants Pass.

Dardanelles is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. It lies opposite the city of Gold Hill on the south side of the Rogue River. Interstate 5 and Oregon Route 99 pass by Gold Hill and Dardanelles.William G. T'Vault, who founded the community in the 1850s, chose the name apparently because the river here runs through a narrow stretch between hills and may have reminded him of the Dardanelles between Asia and Europe. T'Vault was the first postmaster of a post office established here in 1852 and which operated intermittently until 1878. Although a place of importance in early Oregon, little of the community remains. Author Ralph Friedman says in In Search of Western Oregon, "Today most people in Gold Hill know of Dardanelles only because a [local] service station bears that name."
