The North Riding County Football Association, also known as the North Riding FA, is the football governing body for the North Riding of Yorkshire. An electoral ward of the same name stretches north to Newby and had a population at the 2011 Census of 5,537.Stokesley is about two miles south of the Middlesbrough borough boundary and eight miles south of Middlesbrough town centre. Stokesley is between Middlesbrough, Guisborough and Northallerton in a farming area. From 1894 to 1974 the town was one of the North Riding of Yorkshire's rural district head towns.

It was named after the town of Stokesley, which it contained.The district was enlarged in 1932 when it took in part of the Middlesbrough Rural District. It lost parts in 1968 with the creation of the Teesside county borough.In 1974 the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972. It was split three ways, with the northern parts going to the boroughs of Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough in the new county of Cleveland, and the rest becoming part of the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire. The parishes that went to Stockton were: Castlelevington, Hilton, Ingleby Barwick, Kirklevington, Maltby and Yarm, whilst Nunthorpe went to Middlesbrough.

Stokesley railway station was a railway station built to serve the town of Stokesley in North Yorkshire, England. The station was on the North Yorkshire and Cleveland line between Sexhow and Ingleby, which opened in 1857. The line was extended progressively until it met the Whitby & Pickering Railway at Grosmont. It was closed in 1954 to passengers and eleven years later to goods. The station was located 16 miles (26 km) south of Stockton and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of Battersby station.

The Church of All Saints is a grade I listed building and former parish church for Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, England. The churchyard is known to contain several graves to family members of Captain Cook, a noted seafarer. All Saints was replaced as the main parish church in the 1870s by the Church of Christ. The entire western end of the church, including its tower, was removed in 1880. All Saints is still open for people to be able to visit at certain times of the year.
