Irving House, Keinton Mandeville

Keinton Mandeville or commonly referred to as Keinton is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated on top of Combe Hill, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Castle Cary in the South Somerset district. The village has a population of 1,215. It is located next to Barton St David. The village is well know for its past history of quarrying and Blue Lias stone which is found locally in the region. And the birth of Henry Irving, the first actor to be knighted, a blue plaque is placed in high street where he was born to commemorate this.

Kingweston Meadows (grid reference ST540304) is an 11.5 hectare (28.4 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Kingweston in Somerset, notified in 1990. This site is an excellent example of an unimproved herb-rich neutral grassland of a type which is now rare in Britain.

It is situated 5 miles (8 km) south-east of Glastonbury and 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Somerton in the South Somerset district. The village has a population of 561.

West Lydford is a village in Somerset, within the parish of Lydford on Fosse. The village is spread along a stretch of road called the High Street. At the north end of the village is a distinct group of houses known as Fair Place, on the site of a medieval fair.There are two old weirs in the area of the village, the larger, downstream, of which was refurbished in 2012 and provides a pool which is used for Open water swimming. The upstream weir was earlier lowered from its original height to prevent flooding on the A37, where the road crosses the River Brue. The village is the site for the Lydford on Fosse parish hall, which is situated adjacent to the Church.The current road bridge taking the High Street over the River Brue was built in the 17th century.

Babcary Meadows (grid reference ST567293) is a 13.6 hectares (34 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Babcary in Somerset, notified in 1988. Babcary Meadows is one of the last remaining areas of traditionally managed unimproved neutral grassland in south Somerset and contains a rich variety of herbs. The site is positioned to the north of the River Cary at an altitude of 30 metres (98 ft) on flat and gently sloping ground. The plant community contains a very high proportion of herbaceous species. Areas immediately adjacent to the river bank are frequently waterlogged and contain numerous tussocks of Soft rush (Juncus effusus). Associated plants include Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), Cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) and Common fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica).Over two hundred species of flora have been recorded on the 12 hectares (30 acres) Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve, fourteen of which are classified 'notable species' in Somerset, and six of which are orchids. Badgers (Meles meles) and Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) frequent the reserve and it is probable that Otters (Lutra lutra) use the river corridor. The site was purchased by the trust following grant assistance from South Somerset Council.
