The Star and Garter Hotel in Richmond was a hotel located in the London countryside (later suburbs) on Richmond Hill overlooking the Thames Valley, on the site later occupied by the Royal Star and Garter Home, Richmond. The first establishment on the site, an inn built in 1738, was relatively small. This was followed by several other buildings of increasing size and varied design as the site changed from family ownership to being run by a limited company. Some of the rebuilding or extension work took place following fires that by 1888 had destroyed most of the original buildings. At various times architects were commissioned to build grand new buildings or extensions to take advantage of the famed view over the river and valley below, with the largest being the 1860s chateau block by E. M. Barry. The hotel reached the peak of its fame as Richmond itself expanded in the 19th century during the Victorian era. In the period from the 1830s to the 1890s, the hotel guests ranged from literary figures such as Charles Dickens to exiled crowned heads of Europe such as King Louis-Philippe and his wife. The hotel's reputation spread to other countries, with guests arriving from the USA and Europe, or travelling by horse and carriage from London to visit the area and stay at the hotel. In the later years of the 19th century, the hotel and its concert hall, banquet hall, and gardens were used for public dinners, fetes and fundraising gatherings, often attended by local grandees and members of the royal family. Following the end of the Victorian era, the rise of the motor car and more widespread travel led to a decline in the hotel's fortunes, and it failed twice to be sold at auction. During World War I it was purchased by the Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute and donated to Queen Mary in 1916 in support of her plans to establish a home for paralysed and permanently disabled soldiers. The hotel buildings were demolished and rebuilt as a care home beginning in 1919; the new building was dedicated in 1924 as the Women of the Empire's Memorial of the Great War.

Wick House is a Grade II listed house in Richmond, Greater London, located near the corner of Nightingale Lane and Richmond Hill in Surrey. The painter Sir Joshua Reynolds commissioned the house from Sir William Chambers and it was completed in 1772.

Richmond American University London is a private university in London, United Kingdom. Richmond was founded in 1972, by British educator Cyril Taylor. The university awards US degrees from the American state of Delaware, where Richmond is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Until 2018, Richmond's UK degrees were awarded by the Open University; but from the 2018/2019 academic year, Richmond has been able to grant its own UK degrees, after receiving Taught Degree Awarding Powers from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. This mean that all students at Richmond gain both a UK and US degree studying one programme.

The Wick is a Grade I listed Georgian house in Richmond, Greater London, located at the corner of Nightingale Lane and Richmond Hill. The house, designed in 1775 by architect Robert Mylne for Lady St. Aubyn, was for many years the family home of actor Sir John Mills, who sold it to Ronnie Wood of the rock band Faces (and later of the Rolling Stones) in 1971. From 1996 it was owned by Pete Townshend of the Who who sold it in 2021 for £15,000,000

Doughty House is a large house on Richmond Hill in Richmond, London, England, built in the 18th century, with later additions. It has fine views down over the Thames, and both the house and gallery are Grade II listed buildings.The house was named after Elizabeth Doughty, who lived there from about 1786 and provided funds to build St Elizabeth of Portugal Church in The Vineyard, Richmond. It was the residence of the Cook baronets from when it was bought in 1849 by Francis Cook, 1st Viscount of Monserrate, and passed in his family by descent until after World War II. A 125-foot-long gallery (38 m) was added in 1885 for his very important art collection. The first Lady Cook, the American suffragist Tennessee Claflin, was mistress of Doughty House from 1885 until her death. In 1870, she became the first woman, along with her sister Victoria Woodhull, to open a Wall Street brokerage firm. The house and its collection became famous when the 3rd baronet Herbert Cook wrote his catalogue of the collection in 1914, for which he commissioned art historians to help with the various schools. It was his intention to keep the collection together, but financial difficulties in the 1930s forced him to consider selling and negotiations were opened with dealers before he died in 1939. The house was damaged by bombing in the Second World War and the 4th baronet, Sir Francis Cook, who was an artist himself, moved to Jersey with 30 paintings from the collection. Doughty House was sold in 2013 to the developer K10 Group Ltd., which is working on a £30 million renovation to transform the structure into a private residence by 2019.

Downe House is a Grade II listed house on Richmond Hill, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, which has been occupied by playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan, The Rolling Stones' lead vocalist Mick Jagger and model Jerry Hall.

Richmond Hill in Richmond, London, is a hill that begins gently in its townside (north and north-east) through the former fields, orchards and vineyard to a point just within Richmond Park, the deer park emparked and enclosed by Charles I.

Terrace and Buccleuch Gardens are a pair of public gardens in Richmond, London that were consolidated into a public park in 1887. They sit on the east bank of the Thames on the western slope of Richmond Hill. The gardens are Grade II listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens by Historic England and are adjacent to the nearby Richmond Terrace Walk, also listed, which along with the River Thames forms the eastern and western boundaries of the park. It covers an area of approximately 5 hectares (12.35 acres). The Thames Landscape Strategy noted that the gardens were one of the most popular sections along the Thames. Its location straddling the river as well as views, plantations, and surviving historic features have been described as some of the gardens' most attractive features with one writer suggesting it to be "a serious contender for the title of London's prettiest (if steepest) open space".

The Dysart Arms is a former public house in Petersham, London. It is now a restaurant, The Dysart.

St Peter's Church is the parish church of the village of Petersham in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is part of the Diocese of Southwark in the Church of England. The main body of the church building dates from the 16th century, although parts of the chancel are 13th century and evidence in Domesday Book suggests that there may have been a church on the site in Saxon times. Nikolaus Pevsner and Bridget Cherry describe it as a "church of uncommon charm... [whose] interior is well preserved in its pre-Victorian state". The church, which is Grade II* listed, includes Georgian box pews, a two-decker pulpit made in 1796, and a display of the royal arms of the House of Hanover, installed in 1810. Its classical organ was installed at the south end in late 2009 by the Swiss builders Manufacture d'Orgues St Martin of Neuchâtel, and a separate parish room was added in 2018. Many notable people are buried in the churchyard, which includes some Grade II-listed tombs.

St Matthias Church is a Grade II listed Anglican church in Richmond, London. It was built in the Victorian Gothic style in 1857, and is described by Bridget Cherry and Nikolaus Pevsner as "the grandest church in Richmond". The architect was George Gilbert Scott.The church is dedicated to Saint Matthias who was, according to the Acts of the Apostles, chosen by the apostles to replace Judas Iscariot following the latter's betrayal of Jesus and his subsequent death. The church building is located at the top of Richmond Hill at the intersection of Friars Stile Road, Kings Road, and Church Road. At 195 feet (59 m), the spire of the church is a familiar landmark for miles around. The church was renovated in the 1970s by the architects Hutchison, Locke & Monk.St Matthias' Church is part of the Richmond Team Ministry, which also includes the churches of St John the Divine and St Mary Magdalene.
