Brownswood is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney and forms part of the Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency. The ward has existed since the creation of the borough on 1 April 1965 and was first used in the 1964 elections. The population of the ward in 2011 was 11,091. The boundaries of the ward from May 2014 are revised.

The Hackney Brook is one of the subterranean rivers of London. It crossed the northern parts of the current London boroughs of Hackney and Islington, emptying into the River Lea at Old Ford, with its source in Holloway.

South Hornsey was a local government district in Middlesex, England from 1865 to 1900. The district was formed in 1865 when the Local Government Act 1858 was adopted in the southern part of the parish of Hornsey. South Hornsey Local Board was formed to govern the area.The majority of the district (172 acres) consisted of the Brownswood Park area south east of Finsbury Park. There were also two detached portions with a total area of 60 acres (240,000 m2) which were surrounded by the parishes of Stoke Newington and Islington. Under the Local Government Act 1888, Islington and Stoke Newington became part of the County of London, and the outlying parts of South Hornsey became exclaves of Middlesex within the new county. The Local Government Act 1894 reconstituted the area as an urban district, and South Hornsey Urban District Council replaced the local board. South Hornsey became a separate civil parish at the same time.The London Government Act 1899 divided the County of London into metropolitan boroughs and provided for boundary revisions to provide more effective administration. Accordingly, South Hornsey Urban District was abolished in 1900, with the bulk of its area included in the Metropolitan Borough of Stoke Newington (with a population of 16,703), and a small unpopulated part to the neighbouring Borough of Islington.The records of South Hornsey Local Board and Urban District are held by the archives department of the London Borough of Hackney.

Woodberry Down Comprehensive School was a secondary school located off the Seven Sisters Road in the Manor House area of North London. The now defunct school verges on three London boroughs: Hackney, Haringey and Islington. The school was opened in 1955, and closed in 1981 when it was amalgamated with Clissold School and renamed Stoke Newington School. The new school was founded in 1982 in the building of the former Clissold School. A mixed school, the pupils were divided into four houses: Keller (Gold), Curie (Blue), Einstein (Red) and Scott (Green). During the school's first term in 1955 the pupils were tasked to choose the names of the four houses. Many suggestions were put forward by pupils and staff and eventually it was decided to draw up a list of men and women who, by their lives and work, epitomised the school motto, 'Fellowship is Life', and after a campaign, to have an election of four candidates. From 17 international figures Scott of the Antarctic, Albert Einstein, Helen Keller and Marie Curie were selected and gave their names to the four school houses. The school motto 'Fellowship is Life' was taken from a quote by early Socialist, designer and poet William Morris: "Fellowship is heaven, and lack of fellowship is hell; fellowship is life, and lack of fellowship is death; and the deeds that ye do upon the earth, it is for fellowship's sake that ye do them." The School badge was specially designed to represent the area the school was located: the Red Griffin was the Stoke Newington Borough Arms, the Green Trees symbolised the Seven Sisters, and the Blue Water symbolised the reservoirs on whose banks the school was built.

Clissold Park is an open space in Stoke Newington, in the London Borough of Hackney. It is bounded by Greenway Close (to the north), Church Street (south), Green Lanes (west) and Queen Elizabeth's Walk (east); the south-east corner abuts St Mary's Old Church, now an arts venue. The park is 22.57 hectares (55.8 acres) in extent. The main building within its boundaries is the Grade II listed Clissold House, run as a cafe and events venue. The park's facilities include children's playgrounds, sports fields, a bowling green, a skatepark bowl, tennis courts, and a paddling pool. Other attractions include an aviary with assorted captive species, an enclosure of deer and goats, a butterfly dome, and two small lakes hosting wild ducks, geese, swans and other water birds. The park also comprises a short section of the New River, and the Capital Ring has some of its paths running through the park. Clissold Park received a Green Flag award in July 2008, and was substantially restored soon afterwards.

Woodberry Wetlands is a nature reserve and designated Site of Metropolitan Importance on the site of the East Reservoir in Woodberry Down, Hackney, London. The site opened to the public for the first time in 200 years on 1 May 2016. Covering 4.5 ha (11 acres) and situated close to the Lee Valley, Woodberry Wetlands was acquired as a nature reserve in 2014. The site is owned by Thames Water and run by London Wildlife Trust. After a major redevelopment the East Reservoir now offers free public access. The reserve was developed by London Wildlife Trust in collaboration with Thames Water, Berkeley Homes and London Borough of Hackney, with funding from Heritage Lottery Fund. The site contains a boardwalk, a visitors' centre with café, toilet facilities and a classroom. The New River Path runs alongside the northern edge of the reservoir. This forms part of a cycle route connecting to Walthamstow Wetlands, badged as the 'Wetlands to Wetlands Greenway'.

Manor House is a station on the Piccadilly line of the London Underground, on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3. It straddles the border between the London Boroughs of Hackney and Haringey, the postal address and three of the entrances being in the former, and one entrance in the latter.

Highbury New Park is a street in Highbury in the London Borough of Islington which runs from Highbury Quadrant in the north to Highbury Grove in the south.

The Neighbours is a sculpture by Siegfried Charoux. It was commissioned in 1957 using funds set aside by London County Council for public art in its housing projects and unveiled in 1959 at the Quadrant Estate in Islington, N5, London, near Clissold Park. It became Grade II listed building in April 1998. The sculpture stands approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) high, on a low brick plinth. It depicts two life-size human figures, possibly intended to represent working men, sitting alongside each other on a bench. It was made using synthetic resin mixed with powdered stones, supported by a steel armature and fibreglass matting, creating an appearance similar to terracotta or cemented iron. It was renovated in 2009, in time for the 50th anniversary of its unveiling. A 7 inches (180 mm) bronze maquette was sold for £2,250 by Christie's in 2011.

The Skyline is a residential building located in Woodberry Down, London. It is the tallest residential tower block in North London and a distinctive landmark of the Hackney skyline. It was built by Berkeley Homes as part of a wider regeneration scheme in Woodberry Down. The regeneration scheme involved delivering over 5,500 new homes and represented an investment of c. £1bn. The regeneration started in 2004 when the Hackney Council adopted an outline masterplan and is due to complete in 2035 (31 years later). The scheme won the Project of the Year award in 2018 from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).The Skyline is an iconic building at the center of Woodberry Down which covers an area of approximately 26 hectares. It is located to the east of Finsbury Park and on the north side of Woodberry Down Reservoirs, which consist in the West reservoir dedicated to sailing and the East reservoir dedicated to a nature reserve known as Woodberry Wetlands. The construction of the Skyline began in 2013 and was completed in 2016. The tower is 101m in height and has 31 floors. It was designed by the architecture firm Rolfe Judd. There are 139 apartments in the building. The tower includes a resident-only gym, 15-meter swimming pool and spa facilities and a Sainsbury's Local supermarket.

The Happy Man Tree was a plane tree in the Woodberry Down area of Hackney, London, which was awarded Tree of The Year for 2020 by the Woodland Trust. The tree was the subject of a dispute between Berkeley Homes and members of the local community over plans for it to be cut down to enable new home construction. A petition to save the tree with 22,000 signatures was delivered to the Mayor of Hackney in June 2020, with the high court granting an injunction to stop protesters blocking the demolition work granted two days later. The tree was ultimately cut down in January 2021.

Manor House, also known as Woodberry Down, is an area of North London in the northwest corner of the London Borough of Hackney. It lies immediately east of Finsbury Park, north of Stoke Newington, west of Stamford Hill and Seven Sisters, and south of Harringay. The area was originally known as Woodberry Down. However, the construction of the Seven Sisters Road and the consequent establishment of the Manor House Tavern gave rise to the alternative name Manor House Crossroads and with the arrival of the tube station in 1932, the area immediately around the tube station began to be known as Manor House. The demolition of the once very fashionable area of Woodberry Down and its replacement with one of London's biggest public housing estates resulted in 'Woodberry Down Estate' being used to refer to the public housing area and 'Manor House' for the area beyond. With the regeneration of the area during the early part of the 21st Century, the area is now being referred to once again by its nineteenth-century name of 'Woodberry Down'.
