Rochester Psychiatric Center

The Terrence Building is an abandoned high-rise building and former psychiatric hospital in the Azalea neighborhood of Rochester, New York. Opened in 1959, the 16-story tower was once the home of the Rochester State Hospital, serving as a mental ward that boasted 1,000 beds until it closed in 1995. The empty building, which was one of the largest mental health facilities built in the United States, continues to rise above the southern outskirts of the city to this day.

The Rochester Lilac Festival is an art, music, food and flora festival hosted annually in early May in Highland Park in Rochester, New York. Highland Park possesses a huge collection of lilacs, featuring more than 1800 bushes and over 500 different varieties.The festival is started with a parade and frequently hosts concerts and other attractions during the week. The Highland Park arboretum and nearby Ellwanger Garden can be toured free of charge and are open to all visitors. The fields surrounding the arboretum host a myriad of vendor's tents and food stands. The festival ends each year with the annual Lilac 10K road race and 5K Family Fun Run. The 10K Course is USATF certified.

Mount Hope Cemetery is a municipal cemetery in Rochester, New York, founded in 1838. It is the burial site of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass. Situated on 196 acres (79 ha) of land adjacent to the University of Rochester on Mount Hope Avenue, the cemetery is the permanent resting place of over 350,000 people. The annual growth rate of this cemetery is 500-600 burials per year. The cemetery hosts the sculpture Defenders of the Flag, a Civil War monument made in 1908 by the American sculptor Sally James Farnham. In 2018 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Highland Park, also known as Highland Botanical Park, is an arboretum in Rochester, New York, United States. Its administrative office is located at 171 Reservoir Avenue in Rochester. The park is one of several in Rochester originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, including Genesee Valley Park, Maplewood Park, and Seneca Park, which is now a zoo.

A statue of Frederick Douglass sculpted by Sidney W. Edwards, sometimes called the Frederick Douglass Monument, was installed in Rochester, New York in 1899 after it was commissioned by the African-American activist John W. Thompson. According to Visualising Slavery: Art Across the African Diaspora, it was the first statue in the United States that memorialized a specific African-American person.Originally located by the Rochester station, the statue was moved in 1941 to Highland Bowl, a natural amphitheater in Highland Park. The statue was relocated again in October 2019, becoming the centerpiece of a new Frederick Douglass Memorial Plaza. The base is surrounded by plaques bearing words from Douglass's speeches.

Eastman Institute for Oral Health of University of Rochester is a school of dentistry located at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York, United States. Unlike other dental schools in the United States, it does not have an undergraduate dental program. In the year 2020, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health published over 150 peer-reviewed research publications.

Mt. Hope–Highland Historic District is a national historic district located at Rochester in Monroe County, New York. Its encompassed by the neighborhoods of Mount Hope and Highland Park. It has a diverse range of architectural styles. The district was the exclusive domain of the Ellwanger and Barry Botanic Gardens and Mt. Hope Cemetery throughout the mid- and late-19th century. It retains its elegant and spacious character of park land. Its features The district is punctuated with notable architect-designed buildings combined with more tightly knit early 20th century subdivision along the district's fringes. Among the notable buildings are the Warner Castle (1854), a 22-room mansion that is home to the Rochester Garden Center. The Mt. Hope Cemetery includes a little Gothic chapel designed by Andrew Jackson Warner. The cemetery is also known for its beautiful landscaping and picturesque views. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout the region. The hospital also sometimes treats adults that require pediatric care. The hospital shares the rooftop helipad for the attached Strong Memorial Hospital and is an ACS verified level I pediatric trauma center, one of the only ones in the region. The hospital features a regional pediatric intensive-care unit and an American Academy of Pediatrics verified level IV neonatal intensive care unit. GCH also offers one of the country's few Ronald McDonald Houses that is located within a hospital.

Opened in 1926, it is a major provider of both in-patient and out-patient medical services. Attached to Strong is the 190-bed Golisano Children's Hospital, which serves infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21. SMH is owned and operated by the University of Rochester and serves as its primary teaching hospital. It offers programs toward medical, dental, or graduate degrees through the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The hospital anchors the University's health care delivery network in the Rochester area. It serves as a primary community hospital and a regional trauma center for the Rochester area. Also part of the network are Golisano Children's Hospital, and URMC affiliate Highland Hospital.SMH offers care in 40 different specialties and is ranked as one of "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report, and has won the Consumer Choice Award for the best hospital in the area for 12 consecutive years. Strong has signature programs in cardiac care, cancer care, neurology, orthopedics and pediatrics. As an affiliated academic research hospital, patients have access to the latest treatments. Strong also provides emergency medical services. SMH is a teaching hospital and patients may interact with faculty, residents, fellows, interns and/or medical students.

Timothy Wallace House is a historic home located at Rochester in Monroe County, New York. It was constructed about 1840 for farmer Timothy Wallace and is a typical example of a regional farmhouse. It is an intact representative example of vernacular Greek Revival style architecture in Western New York. The original structure featured a two-story main block with flanking wings that was added to and modified throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
