The Nordstadt (North City) is the university quarter in the German city of Hanover. Part of the borough Hanover-Nord, it has 17,684 inhabitants (2020).It was originally characterized by small factories and a big railway freightyard closed in 1996. During World War II large parts of the district were destroyed. Today, due to the university and cultural clubs, this district is a preferred residential area for students and people of immigrant background. An almost village-like atmosphere exists around the Luther Church (see photo) where a lot of pubs and small shops resides. Many alternative project groups have settled here and also numerous communes live in these houses.The area of the former "Sprengel Chocolate Factory" was squatted and later legalized. It formed the base for the annual German punk festival called the Chaos Days, every first weekend in August.

Hanover Region (German: Region Hannover) is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Heidekreis, Celle, Gifhorn, Peine, Hildesheim, Hamelin-Pyrmont, Schaumburg and Nienburg. The Hanover Region district has a unique legal status among the districts of Lower Saxony. It includes the city of Hanover (the state capital) which has the same privileges as a city that is not part of a district. As a consequence, the district is much larger in population than any other district of the state. Its administrative body is the regional parliament (Regionsparlament), headed by the regional president (Regionspräsident), which since 2006 is Hauke Jagau (SPD). The members of the regional parliament are elected once every five years and the regional president is elected once every eight years in local elections.

Benecke-Kaliko AG, based in Hanover, develops and manufactures technical and decorative surface materials made of plastics. Since 2017, it presents itself under the Continental brand.

The Berggarten (Mountain Garden) is a historic botanical garden, one of the gardens of the Herrenhäuser Gärten, around the residence Herrenhäuser Schloss in Herrenhausen, now part of Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. The garden was first created in 1666 as a vegetable garden on a hill north of the palace, and then transformed into a garden for exotic plants. In 1750, it was developed into a botanical garden, with some unusual trees from the period still surviving. It features a palm house, first built in 1846, and a mausoleum, where members of the royal family were interred. Damaged by air raids in World War II, the gardens were restored. In 2000, a house for rain forest-themed gardens was added, which was transformed to an aquarium in 2007.

The Einstein-Elevator is a research platform for earthbound experiments under zero gravity conditions. Unlike other drop towers, only the experimental vessel is evacuated, and the tower itself is not evacuated, allowing a significantly higher repetition rate to be achieved. In addition, mechanical guides achieve lower rotational movements than in free fall. The first "flight" of the capsule in the Einstein-Elevator took place in October 2019, while research operations began in 2020. The facility is part of the Hannover Institute of Technology at Leibniz University Hannover.

The Mittelland Canal, also known as the Midland Canal, (German: Mittellandkanal, German: [ˈmɪtl̩.lant.kaˌnaːl] (listen)) is a major canal in central Germany. It forms an important link in the waterway network of that country, providing the principal east-west inland waterway connection. Its significance goes beyond Germany as it links France, Switzerland and the Benelux countries with Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic Sea.At 325.7 kilometres (202.4 mi) in length, the Mittelland Canal is the longest artificial waterway in Germany.

The Herrenhausen Gardens (German: Herrenhäuser Gärten, IPA: [ˈhɛʁn̩hɔʏzɐ ˈɡɛʁtn̩]) of Herrenhausen Palace, located in Herrenhausen, an urban district of Lower Saxony's capital of Hanover are made up of the Great Garden (Großer Garten), the Berggarten, the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten. The gardens are a heritage of the Kings of Hanover. The Great Garden has always been one of the most distinguished Baroque gardens of Europe while the Berggarten has been transformed over the years from a simple vegetable garden into a large botanical garden with its own attractions. Both the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten have been made in the style of English gardens, and both are considered popular recreation areas for the residents of Hannover. The history of the gardens spans several centuries, and they remain a popular attraction to this day.

The Botanischer Schulgarten Burg (7.5 hectares) is a botanical garden for students maintained by the municipal Schulbiologiezentrum Hannover organization. It is located at Vinnhorster Weg 2, Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, and open weekdays. The garden was established in 1927 to provide practical botany experiences to students. As of 1974 it became headquarters of the Schulbiologiezentrum Hannover, which also maintains schools in three other locations (Freiluftschule Burg, Zooschule Hannover, Botanischer Schulgarten Linden). Its grounds contain a range of habitats including ponds, alder and birch groves, deciduous forest, and meadow, in which students can understand scientific and environmental topics. It also contains theme gardens as follows: genetics and evolution, herbs, vegetables, fruit, aromatic plants, geographic garden, sun and energy, small organic experiments, and insects. The garden's perennial nursery (1500 m²) raises plants for school gardens, including a tropical greenhouse (200 m²) cultivating rainforest plants.

The Georgengarten (German: [ˈɡeːɔʁɡŋ̍ˌɡaʁtn̩]) is a landscape garden in the northwestern borough of Herrenhausen of the German city Hanover. It is a part of Herrenhausen Gardens.

Herrenhausen Palace (German: Schloss Herrenhausen) is a former royal summer residence of the House of Hanover in the Herrenhausen district of the German city of Hanover. It is the centerpiece of Herrenhausen Gardens. The original palace was destroyed by a British bombing raid in 1943 and reconstructed between 2009 and 2013. Today it houses a museum, a division of the Historisches Museum Hannover, and exhibition space.

The Wilhelm Busch Museum (German: Wilhelm Busch - Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst, "Wilhelm Busch - German Museum of Caricature and Drawings") is a museum in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. It features the world's largest collection of works by Wilhelm Busch, as well as contemporary comic art, illustrations and drawings. It is located in the Georgengarten (part of the Herrenhausen Gardens) in a palace known as the Georgenpalais, dating from around 1780. The museum is run by the Wilhelm Busch Society, which formed in 1930.

The Welfenschloss (English: Guelph palace) is a former royal palace in Hanover, Germany, which serves as the main building of the Leibniz University Hannover. The university is housed in the palace since 1879. The palace is surrounded by a large English landscape garden, named the Welfengarten (English: Guelph garden).
