Georgengarten

The Wilhelm Busch Museum (German: Wilhelm Busch - Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst, "Wilhelm Busch - German Museum of Caricature and Drawings") is a museum in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. It features the world's largest collection of works by Wilhelm Busch, as well as contemporary comic art, illustrations and drawings. It is located in the Georgengarten (part of the Herrenhausen Gardens) in a palace known as the Georgenpalais, dating from around 1780. The museum is run by the Wilhelm Busch Society, which formed in 1930.

The Einstein-Elevator is a research platform for earthbound experiments under zero gravity conditions. Unlike other drop towers, only the experimental vessel is evacuated, and the tower itself is not evacuated, allowing a significantly higher repetition rate to be achieved. In addition, mechanical guides achieve lower rotational movements than in free fall. The first "flight" of the capsule in the Einstein-Elevator took place in October 2019, while research operations began in 2020. The facility is part of the Hannover Institute of Technology at Leibniz University Hannover.

Ihme (in its upper course: Wennigser Mühlbach) is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Leine. The Ihme is 26 kilometres (16 mi) long. Its source is in the village Evestorf, a district of Wennigsen. After about 6 kilometres (4 mi), the Ihme reaches the city of Hanover, where it flows into the Leine. In order to protect the city center of Hanover from flooding, much of the water of the Leine is rerouted by a ditch into the Ihme. A bridge over the Ihme is named in memory of Benno Ohnesorg. The Ihme gives its name to the village Ihme, that forms together with Roloven the district Ihme-Roloven of Ronnenberg.

The Welfenschloss (English: Guelph palace) is a former royal palace in Hanover, Germany, which serves as the main building of the Leibniz University Hannover. The university is housed in the palace since 1879. The palace is surrounded by a large English landscape garden, named the Welfengarten (English: Guelph garden).

The Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), German: Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität and short forms German: Leibniz Universität Hannover and German: LUH, is a public research university located in Hanover, Germany. Founded on 2 May 1831, it is one of the largest and oldest science and technology universities in Germany. In the 2014/15 school year, it enrolled 25,688 students, of which 2,121 were from foreign countries. It has nine faculties which offer 190 full and part degree programs in 38 fields of study. It was named University of Hannover in 1978. In 2006, it was named after Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, the 18th century mathematician and philosopher. In 2018, Leibniz University Hannover was adopted as the official English name.Leibniz University Hannover is a member of TU9, an association of the nine leading Institutes of Technology in Germany. It is also a member of the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER), a non-profit association of leading engineering universities in Europe. The university sponsors the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB), the largest science and technology library in the world.

The Herrenhausen Gardens (German: Herrenhäuser Gärten, IPA: [ˈhɛʁn̩hɔʏzɐ ˈɡɛʁtn̩]) of Herrenhausen Palace, located in Herrenhausen, an urban district of Lower Saxony's capital of Hanover are made up of the Great Garden (Großer Garten), the Berggarten, the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten. The gardens are a heritage of the Kings of Hanover. The Great Garden has always been one of the most distinguished Baroque gardens of Europe while the Berggarten has been transformed over the years from a simple vegetable garden into a large botanical garden with its own attractions. Both the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten have been made in the style of English gardens, and both are considered popular recreation areas for the residents of Hannover. The history of the gardens spans several centuries, and they remain a popular attraction to this day.

Herrenhausen Palace (German: Schloss Herrenhausen) is a former royal summer residence of the House of Hanover in the Herrenhausen district of the German city of Hanover. It is the centerpiece of Herrenhausen Gardens. The original palace was destroyed by a British bombing raid in 1943 and reconstructed between 2009 and 2013. Today it houses a museum, a division of the Historisches Museum Hannover, and exhibition space.

The Berggarten (Mountain Garden) is a historic botanical garden, one of the gardens of the Herrenhäuser Gärten, around the residence Herrenhäuser Schloss in Herrenhausen, now part of Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. The garden was first created in 1666 as a vegetable garden on a hill north of the palace, and then transformed into a garden for exotic plants. In 1750, it was developed into a botanical garden, with some unusual trees from the period still surviving. It features a palm house, first built in 1846, and a mausoleum, where members of the royal family were interred. Damaged by air raids in World War II, the gardens were restored. In 2000, a house for rain forest-themed gardens was added, which was transformed to an aquarium in 2007.

The German National Library of Science and Technology (German: Technische Informationsbibliothek), abbreviated TIB, is the national library of the Federal Republic of Germany for all fields of engineering, technology, and the natural sciences. It is jointly funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the 16 German states. Founded in 1959, the library operates in conjunction with the Leibniz Universität Hannover. In addition to acquiring scientific literature, it also conducts applied research in such areas as the archiving of non-textual materials, data visualization and the future Internet. The library is also involved in a number of open access initiatives. With a collection of over 9 million items in 2017, the TIB is the largest science and technology library in the world.

The Welfenschloss Stables is the residence of the Technical Information Library at the Leibniz University Hannover. It was built in 1863–1867 during the reign of the last Hanoverian king, George V as the royal stables for the Guelph Palace (Welfenschloss).

The Hanover Stadtbahn is a Stadtbahn (light rail) system in the city of Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. The Stadtbahn opened on 29 September 1975, gradually replacing the city's tramway network over the course of the following 25 years. Currently, the Hanover Stadtbahn system consists of 12 main lines (Lines 1–11 & 17; along with one night line (Line 10E) and two supplemental lines (Lines 16 & 18)), serving 196 stations (including 19 underground stations, and 119 high-platform stations), and operating on 121 kilometres (75 mi) of route. The system is run by üstra, which was originally an abbreviation for Überlandwerke und Straßenbahnen Hannover AG. As of 2007, it transported 125 million passengers per year.Three types of light rail cars operate on the system, the TW 6000, built from 1974 to 1993, the TW 2000 (the so-called "Silberpfeil"), built from 1997 to 1999, and the TW 3000, which was first introduced into A line service in 2015. The system is extensively used, especially during trade shows on the Hanover fairground like CeBIT or the Hannover Messe. It makes up for more than 60% of the GVH transport association's total traffic, spanning over four cities and two counties. Hanover Stadtbahn is complemented by DB-owned Hanover S-Bahn, a suburban heavy rail network which links the outlying suburbs and towns, as well as Hanover Airport, to the city centre.

The Old Jewish Cemetery on the Oberstrasse (German: Alter Jüdischer Friedhof an der Oberstraße) is a Jewish cemetery in Hanover. Located on a hill in the city's Nordstadt district, it is the oldest extant Jewish cemetery in Northern Germany. The cemetery contains about 700 graves and was in use from circa 1550 until 1864.
