Picketts Lock

Pickett's Lock (No 15) is a lock on the River Lee Navigation in the London Borough of Enfield, England and is located near Edmonton, London. It gives its name to the surrounding area of Picketts Lock. In common with other locks as far upstream as Ponder's End Lock it is large enough to take barges of up to 130 tons. However it has not been upgraded to power operation and so it must be manually operated. It has gate paddles but these do not have gate baffles to mitigate the rush of water into the lock.

The Lee Navigation is a canalised river incorporating the River Lea (also called the River Lee along the sections that are navigable). It flows from Hertford Castle Weir to the River Thames at Bow Creek; its first lock is Hertford Lock and its last Bow Locks.

Deephams Sewage Treatment Works is a sewage treatment facility close to Picketts Lock, Edmonton, England. The outflow discharges via Pymmes Brook into the River Lee Navigation at Tottenham Lock. The treatment works was upgraded in 2012/13.

Lee Valley Leisure Complex is located at Edmonton, London, and is part of the Lee Valley Park. It was formerly known as the Picketts Lock Sports Centre. It now comprises an 18-hole golf course which borders the River Lee Navigation, camping site, indoor bowls club (housed in the remains of the now-demolished Picketts Lock Sports Centre), multiplex cinema and restaurants. A new athletics centre was formally opened on 16 January 2007. The complex is owned and managed by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVRPA).

The Lee Valley Athletics Centre is located at the Lee Valley Leisure Complex formerly known as Picketts Lock in Edmonton, London Borough of Enfield. The centre cost £15m to build, and was officially opened on 16 January 2007 by Minister for the Olympics, Tessa Jowell. The centre is owned and managed by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVRPA) The centre is the largest indoor and outdoor athletics facility serving London and South East England. Housing the only indoor 200 metre six lane track in the South of England, it also comprises a 130-metre sprint straight, permanent seating for 500 spectators both inside and out, full jumps and throws capacity, and cutting-edge sports science and physiotherapy suites. The site is open to the general public as well as elite athletes. On 11 September 2014, the centre hosted the Invictus Games.

The William Girling Reservoir is located in the London Borough of Enfield and is part of the Lee Valley Reservoir Chain that supplies London with drinking water. It is named after William Girling OBE, a chairman of the Metropolitan Water Board (MWB). The reservoir and the nearby King George V Reservoir are known collectively as the Chingford Reservoirs. The storage reservoir, which is owned by Thames Water, is bordered by Chingford to the east and Ponders End and Edmonton to the west, and covers 334 acres (135 hectares) with a perimeter of 3.5 miles (5.6 km). There is no public access.

EcoPark is a waste-to-energy plant which burns waste from several London boroughs to provide electricity for the National Grid. It is located on the River Lee Navigation and bordered by the North Circular Road, in Edmonton in the London Borough of Enfield. It is also known as Edmonton EcoPark (formerly Edmonton Incinerator, and later as London Ecopark).

AIM North London Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Edmonton area of the London Borough of Enfield, England. Originally known as Cuckoo Hall Secondary Modern school, it merged with the Houndsfield and Eldon secondary modern schools to become Mandeville Secondary Comprehensive School in 1967, becoming Salisbury School and then Turin Grove School. The school reopened in 2010 as Nightingale Academy; Nightingale was one of the first Mayor's academies to be established in London. The school became AIM North London Academy in 2019, and is sponsored by the AIM Academies Trust. AIM North London Academy offers GCSEs as programmes of study for pupils, while sixth form students can choose to study from a range of A Levels. In October 2018, the Principal Ann Palmer was absent from the academy whilst Interim Executive Principal Mr Remo Iafrate from nearby AET school Aylward, took over the day-to-day running of the school. In April 2019 it was announced that Catherine Hutley would take over as Interim Headteacher until the end of the academic year. From September 2019, the Headmaster was Paddy McGrath.

The Church of All Saints, Chingford, also known as Chingford Old Church, is a Grade II* listed Church of England church at Old Church Road, Chingford, London E4. Parts of the church date back to the 12th and 13th centuries, but it now forms part of the parish of St Peter and St Paul, Chingford, which took over its role as the parish church in 1844. The church stands on the summit of Chingford Mount and has views westwards towards the reservoirs of the Lea Valley.

Ponders End Lock (No 14) is a paired lock on the River Lee Navigation in England and is located near Ponders End, London. It is the last lock upstream that is large enough to take barges of up to 130 tons.

South Chingford is an area of Chingford in east London, England. It is a largely residential area which is the location of the Chingford Hall Estate, Chingford Mount and the former Walthamstow Stadium. The boundaries of South Chingford are commonly taken to be New Road to the north, the Lea Valley to the west and the North Circular Road to the south. To the east, South Chingford borders Highams Park, and the town of Walthamstow to the south. It comprises the Waltham Forest London Borough Council wards of Larkswood and Valley.

Ponders End railway station is on the West Anglia Main Line, serving the district of Ponders End in the London Borough of Enfield, north London. It is 9 miles 71 chains (15.9 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is located between Meridian Water and Brimsdown. Its three-letter station code is PON and it is in Travelcard zone 5. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. It is near to Lee Valley Leisure Complex.
