South Turton is an unparished area of the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, in Greater Manchester, England. Historically the southern part of Turton, and within the Historic County of Lancashire, it lies on the southern slopes of the West Pennine Moors, and has a population of 25,067.South Turton was created in 1974 from the smaller urban area of the former Turton Urban District. This unparished area includes Bradshaw, Bromley Cross, Harwood, Dunscar, Eagley, and Egerton.

The present church is dedicated to Saint Maxentius, an obscure French saint, and is the only church in England with this dedication.

15 Firwood Fold is a 16th-century house in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. It is a Grade II* listed building and according to local tradition is the oldest inhabited house in Bolton. It stands separate from the other houses on Firwood Fold. The house was originally built in a medieval style using the cruck construction technique, whereby A-shaped oak trusses on stone bases were covered in wattle and daub and thatch. It was later renovated and clad in stone. One of the trusses can be clearly seen in the gable end.

The new campus also houses Firwood Special School, a community special school for pupils aged 11 – 16. BSCA work in partnership not only with Canon Slade School and St James's CofE High School, but also the Manchester Diocese, Bolton Council, Urban Outreach, NHS and local Churches - Christ Church, Kings Church and Bridge Church whom work closely with out Christian Youth Support Workers. The students at BSCA fundraise for 3 main charities - Urban Outreach, Comic/Sport Relief and Christian Aid.

Bromley Cross railway station is on the Ribble Valley Line. In the 16th century, Arthur Bromley of Turton married Isabell Orrell, the granddaughter of the Lord of the manor of Turton. It is from this family the place derives its name. It is supposed that there may once have been an ancient cross in the locality, although no physical evidence of it has been found.Bromley Cross is a residential area, and in the 19th century was part of the township of Turton, and from 1898 part of Turton Urban District. The village of Bromley Cross grew in the 19th century in association with many factories and bleachworks, which used water power obtained from the Eagley Brook and its tributaries.In the northern area is the "Last Drop Village", a collection of old farmhouses and farmbuildings which were restored in the 1960s into a pub, restaurant, bistro, craft shops, hotel and conference centre.In 2002, youth workers discovered young people congregated in abandoned underground World War II air raid tunnels belonging to Eagley Mills. The tunnels have since been sealed.

Hall i' th' Wood railway station is the last stop before Bolton on the Northern Trains franchise's Ribble Valley Line into Blackburn and Clitheroe in England. The station opened by British Rail on 29 September 1986. It is located in the middle of a housing estate and forms an unofficial footpath between the two sides. In March 2008 work began on a new car park for the station.It takes its name from the nearby Hall i' th' Wood, now a museum which is within walking distance of the station.
