Parkhurst Forest is a woodland to the north-west of Newport, Isle of Wight, England. The site is partly a site of special scientific interest. It consists of ancient woodland, relict heathland and plantation woodland. The woodland is freehold owned and managed by Forestry England. It is 395 hectares in area and the second largest forest on the Isle of Wight after Brighstone Forest. It is open to the public. It is much used as recreational land and is a haven for wildlife including the red squirrel and many species of bird such as garden warbler, nightjar, woodcock, green, great spotted woodpecker and long eared owl. An industrial area is located off Forest Road within the forest itself. Factories were located in this way during the Second World War to avoid German bombers. One of these factories, a former aircraft hangar, became the printworks for J. Arthur Dixon, the eponymous manufacturer of greetings cards and postcards.James I hunted deer in the forest. There have been sightings of wild deer reported on the Isle of Wight.

Rew Street is a village on the Isle of Wight. It is located three kilometres southwest of Cowes in the north of the island. The village lies along the main road between Porchfield and Gurnard (where the 2011 Census population was included) and consists of several farming communities. As a result, many of the houses in the area have been converted from old barns.

The Isle of Wight gasification facility is a municipal waste treatment plant in southern England. It entered the commissioning phase in autumn 2008, and will be replaced by a new moving grate incinerator in 2019The facility has been funded as part of Defra's New Technologies Demonstrator Programme and is one of the first and only facilities in the United Kingdom to be classed as a gasification system employed for the combustion of refuse derived fuel originating from municipal waste. The plant is operated by Waste Gas Technology UK Ltd, part of the ENER·G group, and utilises the Energos technology; Energos is also part of the ENER·G group. The Energos system was retrofitted into a small conventional incinerator plant and combust an estimated 30,000 tonnes of refuse-derived fuel per year. Originally estimated at £8 million, the retrofit cost £10 million to commission, £2.7 million of which was funded by DEFRA. The plant is sited at Forest Road, Newport.

Thorness Bay is an 86.2-hectare (213-acre) Site of special scientific interest which is located on the north-west coast of the Isle of Wight, England, in the western arm of the Solent. The site was notified in 1966 for both its biological and geological features. The bay stretches about 3 km from Salt Mead Ledge in the west to Gurnard Head Nr. Gurnard Bay to the east. The sea bed is a mixture of mud and sand. A small unnamed brook enters the sea in the middle of the bay after passing through a marsh. Little Thorness Farm, a beef farm near the bay has 18 acres (73,000 m2) of protected marshland under stewardship and is a SSSI because it is home to wildlife not found in other areas.

Great Thorness is a settlement in the civil parish of Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield, on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. The hamlet lies near the north-west coast of the island and Thorness Bay. Great Thorness is approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of Newport.

Forest Side is a hamlet on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It is located to the east of the A3054 road, and adjacent to Parkhurst Forest. Forest Side is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-west of Newport. Forest Side lies 31 metres (102 ft) above sea level at the coordinates 50.70460129°N 1.32425662°W / 50.70460129; -1.32425662, with the Ordnance Survey National Grid reference SZ478897.

The A3054 is an A-Class Road on the Isle of Wight in Southern England. It forms the Northern half of the circular around-the-Island A-class loop, the southern half being the A3055. It connects Newport and Ryde, the two largest towns on the Island, as well as continuing to West Wight. Because of the road's relatively short length, there are no confirmatory signs with distances, although on a few direction signs at junctions there are distances to the next town. The final destination of the road (Freshwater/Totland or Ryde), in common with most UK roads, is not always signed along the whole length of the route.

HMP Isle of Wight – Camp Hill Barracks is a former Category C men's prison, located on the outskirts of Newport, Isle of Wight. The former prison lies adjacent to Albany and Parkhurst, both part of HMP Isle of Wight.

Northwood is a village and civil parish on the Isle of Wight. It lies south of the town of Cowes and has been occupied for about 1000 years. The Church of St. John the Baptist in Northwood, was first built between the 11th and 13th centuries. There is a primary school in Northwood which was first begun in 1855. Until 1990 it still featured an outside toilet. The main form of transport is Southern Vectis bus route 1, which runs every 7–8 minutes in the daytime to Cowes and Newport, along the main road. Local bus service route 32 is provided by the setting up of a Joint Scheme involving Southern Vectis and the Parish Council mid-2011. Several changes to this route have occurred after Southern Vectis withdrew their 27 to Cowes and 28 to Newport.

The wreck of a wooden sailing vessel was discovered in Thorness Bay, Isle of Wight, England in 2010. The site was designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act on 31 July 2013. The wreck is a Protected Wreck managed by Historic England.

Locks Farm Meadow is a 2.3-hectare (5.7-acre) Site of special scientific interest which just east of Porchfield, England. The site was notified in 1988 for its biological features.

HM Prison Parkhurst is a Category B men's prison in Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. Parkhurst prison is one of the two formerly separate prisons that today make up HMP Isle of Wight, the other being Albany.
