Hemsby Lifeboat

Blitz and Pieces is a museum in Scratby in Great Yarmouth, England, owned and operated by Darren Stride. Based on the British Home Front during World War II and the BBC comedy Dad's Army, the museum is housed in a 1940s prefabricated building, a 1930s wooden military hut and a variety of large sheds. In 2014 the museum was a finalist in Channel 4's George Clarke's Amazing Spaces: Shed of the Year series. The museum is open to the public by appointment.

Scratby is a seaside village within the parish of Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby in the Borough of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England. Scratby is situated 7 miles (11 km) north of Great Yarmouth. The village forms part of the wider Great Yarmouth Urban Area. The village is adjacent to the small village of California to the south and the village of Hemsby to the north.

Hemsby railway station was a station in Hemsby, Norfolk. It was on the line between Melton Constable and Great Yarmouth. It was closed in 1959.

Hemsby is a village, seaside resort and civil parish in the county of Norfolk, England. It is situated some 7.5 mi (12.1 km) north of the town of Great Yarmouth. In the 2001 census Hemsby had a population of 2,973 in 1,221 households; by the 2011 census it had increased to 3,275. Hemsby borders the villages of Winterton-on-Sea and Scratby. For the purpose of local government, the parish is in the district of Great Yarmouth.Coastal erosion is destroying a number of homes and others are threatened. A Norfolk county map dated around 1610 shows a headland, called Winterton Ness, extending into the sea north-east of Hemsby. This headland has now almost entirely disappeared through erosion. The village's name means 'Hemer's farm/settlement'. Hemsby, along with much of the Norfolk coast, was targeted by the Vikings, who initially raided the area in search of precious materials and slaves. The village was founded at some point during this time. The settlement grew steadily and is listed in the Domesday Book under the name of Haimesbei with a description of "a hamlet covering 43 meadow acres with 50 households, 3 slaves, 2 salt pans and 160 sheep".

Duncan Hall School was a boys’ prep school at Scratby Hall in Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby, Norfolk from 1949 to 1986, with girls admitted from 1979. Prior to occupying Scratby Hall, it was located in Great Yarmouth and was called Duncan House.

Scratby Halt was a railway station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway which served the Norfolk village of Scratby, England.

Winterton Lighthouse is located in Winterton-on-Sea in the English county of Norfolk. In 1845 Winterton Ness was described as being 'well known to the mariner as the most fatal headland between Scotland and London'. As well as marking the headland, the lighthouse was intended to help guide vessels into the Cockle Gat, which provided the northern entry into the safe water of Yarmouth Roads. The lighthouse was known to Daniel Defoe and is mentioned in his novel Robinson Crusoe.A lighthouse is known to have stood in this location since the early 17th century; it was initially lit by a coal-burning brazier. Since then it has been rebuilt on a number of occasions. For well over a century there were three smaller lighthouses in the immediate vicinity in addition to the main 'fire light', all of which were concurrently operational. The present lighthouse dates from the mid-1860s; it was decommissioned in 1921.

Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is made up of the inland village of Ormesby St Margaret and the adjacent seaside resorts of Scratby and California. The villages are some 1.2 mi (1.9 km) apart, and they are situated about 6.2 mi (10.0 km) north of the town of Great Yarmouth and 19 mi (31 km) east of the city of Norwich.The civil parish has an area of 4.5 mi (7.2 km) and in the 2001 census had a population of 4,021 in 1,680 households, the population reducing to 3,974 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth.Ormesby St Margaret is separate from the village of Ormesby St Michael, which lies some 2 mi (3.2 km) to the west. Great Ormesby railway station was once located here on the line between Great Yarmouth and Melton Constable. It is now closed. California owes its name to the discovery of some 16th-century gold coins on the beach in 1848, at a time when the California gold rush had captured the attention of the world. The 1940s Home front museum Blitz and Pieces is based in the parish.

Great Ormesby railway station was a station in Ormesby St Margaret, Norfolk. It was opened in 1877 and later became part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway route bringing holiday passengers from the Midlands to the Norfolk coastal resorts. It was closed in 1959 along with the rest of the line.

The village is adjacent to the older and larger village of Scratby to the north and is a short distance from Caister-on-Sea to the south.

Winterton Lifeboat Station was located in the town of Winterton-on-Sea, on the north-east coast of Norfolk. A lifeboat was first stationed here by the Norfolk Association for Saving the Lives of Shipwrecked Mariners (NASLSM) in 1823. Management of the station was transferred to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1858. The station closed in 1925.
