Halton Castle

The Castle, formerly known as The Castle Hotel, is a public house and former Georgian courthouse on Halton Hill in Halton, Runcorn, Cheshire, England. Its side walls are continuous with the curtain walls of the ruins of Halton Castle. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Halton Vicarage is in Castle Road, Halton in the town of Runcorn, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.The vicarage was built in 1739 by Sir John Chesshyre for the incumbent of St Mary's Church. It is built in sandstone with a slate roof and has rusticated quoins. It has five bays, the central of which is flanked by giant pilasters. The porch is supported by Doric columns. The eaves cornice has a solid parapet with a pedimented centre. Over the door are Sir John's coat of arms.

It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.The house is dated 1598, which makes it the oldest standing building in the Liverpool City Region. It was latterly a farmhouse although was originally built by the judge John King, called to the bar in London in the late 16th century and was originally known as "John King's New House"; the occupation of the original owner of the house, led to a later owner, Geoffrey Barraclough, Professor of History at Liverpool University in the mid 20th century coining the current name of the house. The house was, in fact, inhabited originally by a seneschal, that is the original owner, John King.The house is built with sandstone and it has a stone slate roof with a sandstone ridge. It is two storeys with an attic roof. At the front are three projections rising to the full height of the house. The central projection contains a porch; the others have bay windows with mullions. Each projection is surmounted by a gable and there are gables at each end of the house. The gables have corbels and moulded copings with finials at their summits.

Halton Old Hall is a house in the village of Halton in Runcorn, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The house dates from 1693, and is built in sandstone with a slate roof. It has two storeys and an attic; a two-storey wing has been added to the back. The windows have mullions and the gables have corbels and copings. Both Starkey and Nikolaus Pevsner note that its style is older than its date.

The Southgate Estate was a modernist public housing project located in Runcorn New Town (Cheshire, England) and completed in 1977. The estate was designed by James Stirling, and comprised 1,500 residential units intended to house 6,000 people. The estate was demolished between 1990 and 1992 and replaced with another housing development, known as Hallwood Park, based around more traditional design principles.

Halton is a constituency in Cheshire, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 1997 by Derek Twigg of the Labour Party.Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be abolished, with the majority, comprising the areas to the north of the River Mersey (Widnes), being included in the new constituency of Widnes and Halewood, to be first contested at the next general election. Areas to the south of the river (Runcorn) will be included in the new constituency of Runcorn and Helsby.
