West Pennard

West Pennard Court Barn (which is also known as the Court Barn, West Bradley) is a late 14th or early 15th century tithe barn which was built for Glastonbury Abbey. The Grade I listed building is between West Pennard and West Bradley in the English county of Somerset.The barn was restored by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in the 1930s following the collapse of the roof and then given to the National Trust. At 50 feet (15 m) long and 20 feet 6 inches (6.25 m) wide it is the smallest of the barns associated with the abbey. It has a cruck braced timber framed roof and is supported by two-stage buttresses.

Ponter's Ball Dyke is a linear earthwork located near Glastonbury in Somerset, England. It crosses, at right angles, an ancient road that continues on to the Isle of Avalon. It consists of an embankment with a ditch on the east side. It is built across the ridge of land between Glastonbury and West Pennard. Both ends of the ditch and dyke disappear into moorland, formerly swamps.The current visible remains extend to just over 1 kilometre. It is bisected by the A361 and crossed by three public footpaths. The gap where the road runs through the dyke is staggered, suggesting that the gap is original.

West Bradley is a village and civil parish 4 miles south-east of Glastonbury in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. The parish includes the hamlets of Hornblotton and Lottisham. Hornblotton Green is a traditional English community with a small village hall. There are no shops in Hornblotton although there are 3 working farms, and a beautiful Victorian arts and crafts style church. The village is on the Monarch's Way long-distance footpath. Also a cycle route passes through.

The Anglican Church of St Andrew in West Bradley, within the English county of Somerset, dates from the 14th century. It is a Grade II* listed building.The first chapel on the site appears in records dating from 1168. Until 1875 it was a subsidiary chapel to the Church of All Saints at East Pennard. The dedication to St Andrew was only added in the 20th century.It consists of a two-bay nave, a south porch and a chancel, which has an organ loft. The two-stage square west tower has a small stair-turret on the northern side. The tower holds a ring of bells, the oldest of which dates from 1706, and has a clock which was added in 1739. The chancel and some other parts of the church underwent extensive restoration in the 19th century. Inside the church are a Norman font and a piscina. Further work, including the underpinning of the chancel arch, was undertaken in 1898.The parish is part of the benefice of Baltonsborough with Butleigh, West Bradley and West Pennard within the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

West Pennard railway station was a station on the Highbridge branch of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. Opened on 3 February 1862, it was reduced to halt status on 25 June 1962. Originally the S&DJR main line, the railway was reduced to branch status when the extension to Bath was built. A passing point on the single line, the station was adjacent to a level crossing on the A361 road from Shepton Mallet to Glastonbury. The station closed with the railway on 7 March 1966.

Baltonsborough is a village and civil parish in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. According to the 2011 census the parish had a population of 864. As well as Baltonsborough village, the parish contains the hamlets of Ham Street, Catsham and Southwood.

The Oaks of Avalon is the collective name given to a pair of ancient oak trees, Gog and Magog, that stand in Glastonbury in Somerset, South West England. The trees were named after the ancient apocalyptic figures Gog and Magog.The trees are believed to have been originally part of a ceremonial avenue towards the Glastonbury Tor, the avenue was cut down in 1906 to make way for a farm, with the timber being sold to J. Snow & Son, a local timber merchant. At the time of the 1906 felling of the avenue one of the oak trees was measured at 11ft in diameter and had more than 2000 season growth rings. A historically based belief has Joseph of Arimathea following the row of trees towards the tor upon his arrival in Albion.In April 2017, though already dead, Gog was badly damaged by fire from a candle. The fire is believed to been accidental, and was put out by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

The Gatehouse in Baltonsborough, Somerset, England, is a thatched house dating from the 16th century. It has been designated a Grade I listed building.The first house was built in the 15th century, however only two bays of this survive. The building was extended in the late 16th century when a chimney was added in the great hall. A wing was added to the north east of the main hall in the mid 17th century. In the 19th century it was converted into three cottagers but restored to a single house in the 20th century. It has a cruck roof which shows signs of blackening from the smoke of the earlier open fire.The house is named after the "Gatehouse" family who lived there from 1699 until 1839. It remained part of their estate until 1947.

St Andrew's Church is a former Church of England mission church in Edgarley, Somerset, England. It was built in 1897 and is now used as a private chapel by Millfield Preparatory School.

North Wootton is a village and civil parish, on the River Redlake, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south east of Wells, and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south west of Shepton Mallet in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. The village is on the Monarch's Way long-distance footpath.

Twinhills Woods and Meadows (grid reference ST558432) is a 21.2 hectare (52.4 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the Monarch's Way south of Dulcote in Somerset, notified in 1990. Twinhills Woods and Meadows comprise a complex of ancient, semi-natural woodland, neutral and calcareous grassland with associated mature hedges and areas of shrub growth. Further interest is added by the presence of numerous butterfly species on the site. A total of 26 species have been recorded including grizzled skipper (Pyrgus malvae), white-letter hairstreak (Satyrium w-album), green-veined white (Pieris napi), brown argus (Aricia agestis), marbled white (Melangargia galthea), silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia) and marsh fritillary (Eurodryas aurinia).The site is crossed by the Monarch's Way long distance footpath.
