La Région-Sherbrookoise was a former regional county municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec. Prior to September 12, 1998 it was known as Sherbrooke Regional County Municipality.It ceased to exist when most of it amalgamated into the expanded city of Sherbrooke on January 1, 2002.

It is located at 225 Frontenac Street in downtown Sherbrooke. The museum receives funding from the City of Sherbrooke, the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications, the Department of Canadian Heritage as well as sponsorships, special grants and private funding.

Sherbrooke is also the name of a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec, coextensive with the city of Sherbrooke. With 172,950 residents at the Canada 2021 Census, it is the sixth largest city in the province and the 30th largest in Canada. The Sherbrooke Census Metropolitan Area had 227,398 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest metropolitan area in Quebec and 19th in Canada. Sherbrooke is the primary economic, political, cultural, and institutional centre of Estrie, and was known as the Queen of the Eastern Townships at the beginning of the 20th century. There are eight institutions educating 40,000 students and employing 11,000 people, 3,700 of whom are professors, teachers and researchers. The direct economic effect of these institutions exceeds one billion dollars. The proportion of university students is 10.32 students per 100 inhabitants, giving Sherbrooke the largest concentration of students in Quebec.Sherbrooke rose as a manufacturing centre in the 1800s, and today the service sector is prominent. The Sherbrooke region is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lakes. There are several ski hills nearby and various tourist attractions in regional flavour. Mont-Bellevue Park, a large park in the city, is used for downhill skiing. The city was named in 1818 for John Coape Sherbrooke, a former Governor General of Canada.

The Séminaire de Sherbrooke, also known as Séminaire Saint-Charles-Borromée, is a private educational institution located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Today, the Séminaire offers five years of secondary school and several college programs and continuing education.

Saint-Michel Basilica-Cathedral (French: Basilique-cathédrale Saint-Michel) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and cathedral dedicated to St. Michael located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The church is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sherbrooke. The basilica was decreed on July 31, 1959. The lower-half of the cathedral was constructed from 1914 to 1917. A lack of funds resulted in a thirty-nine year pause in construction. The completion of the upper-half of the cathedral was in 1956 to 1957. The cathedral was designed by architect Louis-Napoleon Audet, in Gothic style. Mr Audet was the architect for both phases of construction. The large window of the façade depicts the four Evangelists. The Cathedral of St Michael has 105 stained-glass windows crafted by Rafaël Lardeur of Paris. The archbishop's chapel was painted by Ozias Leduc.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sherbrooke (Latin: Archidioecesis Sherbrookensis) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese that includes part of the civil province of Quebec and includes the suffragan dioceses of Nicolet and Saint-Hyacinthe. It is currently led by Luc Cyr. As of 2004, the archdiocese contains 107 parishes, 195 active diocesan priests, 107 religious priests, and 291,000 Catholics. It also has 1,012 women religious, 197 religious brothers, and 18 permanent deacons.

Lac des Nations is an artificial lake located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. It was created during the construction of a hydroelectric dam used to power the old Patton Co factory. Fed by the Magog River, it is at the heart of the Cité des Rivières Project, which aims to promote tourism and the revitalization of Sherbrooke's rivers. Crossed by the Central Maine and Quebec Railway (a piece of the pre-1994 Canadian Pacific line to Saint John, New Brunswick), it is bordered by the vast Parc Jacques-Cartier. Lac des Nations is the location of the Jean Perrault Waterskiing school. Surrounding the Lac des Nations is a promenade. Attractions along the path include the a water fountain, the Halte des Nations, and the Marché de la Gare public market. The Orford Express tourist train stopped near the Marché de la Gare.The annual Fête du Lac des Nations is located in Parc Jacques-Cartier along the lake. Thousands of people attend and dance around a fire with necklaces around their necks.

The Magog River, or Sekosonotek in Abenaki, is a river that drains Lake Memphremagog. It is a small river running through the territories of the cities of Magog and Sherbrooke, in the administrative region of Estrie, in Quebec, in Canada, along a southwest–northeast axis. Having its source in lake Memphremagog, it crosses lake Magog and empties into Saint-François River, in the city center of Sherbrooke. The cities of Sherbrooke and Magog, Quebec, lie on the Magog River. Engineers from the Université de Sherbrooke have constructed a plastic bridge on the river.
