La Ciotat (French: [la sjɔta]; Provençal Occitan: La Ciutat [la sjewˈta]; in Mistralian spelling La Ciéutat; 'the City') is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. It is the southeasternmost commune of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis. La Ciotat is located at about 25 km (15.5 mi) to the east of Marseille, at an equal distance from Toulon.

The Action off La Ciotat was a naval engagement on 17 August 1944 during the Second World War and was part of Operation Dragoon. Allied forces, engaged at the main landings in Vichy France, ordered a small flotilla of American and British warships to make a feint against the port city of La Ciotat. The Allies hoped to draw German forces away from the main landing zones at Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Saint-Tropez and Saint Raphaël. During the operation, two German warships attacked the Allied flotilla.

The canton of La Ciotat is a canton located within the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France.

The Eden Theatre in La Ciotat, on the Mediterranean coast of France, between Marseilles and Toulon, is regarded as the oldest cinema in the world. The Guinness World Records also considers the Eden Theatre as the "oldest purpose-built cinema in operation".

The Parc du Mugel is a municipal park and botanical garden in the town of La Ciotat, in the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône, on the Mediterranean coast of France between Marseille and Toulon. It is listed among the Remarkable Gardens of France by the French Ministry of Culture.

The Corniche des Crêtes is a picturesque and narrow coastal road in the south of France, winding from Cassis to La Ciotat along the Mediterranean shore. The road was opened to traffic in 1969 and it leads along the Falaises (high cliffs) up to Cap Canaille, a cape 362 metres above the sea, and the highest cliff in France. From there it continues to Grande Tête, an elevation which is 399 metres high. The Corniche des Crêtes is about 15 km long and offers magnificent views of the sea, as well as the town of Cassis and the Calanques.

Gare de La Ciotat is a railway station serving the town La Ciotat, Bouches-du-Rhône department, southeastern France. It is situated on the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway, and is served by trains between Marseille, Toulon and Hyères. It is known for the 1895 film L'Arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat, directed and produced by Auguste and Louis Lumière.

Ceyreste (French pronunciation: [seʁɛst]; Occitan: Ceiresta) is a commune located about 23 km (14.3 mi) east of Marseille in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southern France.

Cap Canaille is a headland situated in the Bouches-du-Rhône département, in southern France, on the Mediterranean Sea coast between the towns Cassis and La Ciotat and about 27 km (16 mi) from the centre of Marseille. At 394 m (1,293 ft), it is the highest sea cliff of France. The rock face of Cap Canaille is called Falaises de Soubeyrannes. The rock consists of layers of ochre-coloured sandstone, conglomerate and limestone from the Turonian age on top of grey marl from the Cenomanian until the Turonian age. The Corniche des Crêtes road runs over the top of the cliff. The name in Provençal is Cap Naio. It has been misunderstood in French and changed into Cap Canaille instead of "Cap Naille".

Roquefort-la-Bédoule (French pronunciation: [ʁɔkfɔʁ la bedul]; Occitan: Ròcafòrt e la Bedola) is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. Its inhabitants are called Bédoulens (masculine) and Bédoulennes (feminine). In 2018, Roquefort-la-Bédoule had a population of 5,896.

Cassis (French pronunciation: [kasi]; Occitan: Cassís) is a commune situated east of Marseille in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, whose coastline is known in English as the French Riviera, in Southern France. It is a popular tourist destination, famous for its cliffs (falaises) and the sheltered inlets called calanques. The wines of Cassis are white and rosé, and not to be confused with crème de cassis, a specialty of Burgundy which takes its name from blackcurrants (cassis), not the commune. It is a filming location featured in The French Connection, notably for heroin smuggler Alain Charnier's house.

Carnoux-en-Provence (French pronunciation: [kaʁnu ɑ̃ pʁɔvɑ̃s]; Occitan: Carnós de Provença), commonly referred to simply as Carnoux, is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. It was created in 1966 from the commune of Roquefort-la-Bédoule. In 2018, Carnoux-en-Provence had a population of 6,564. Carnoux-de-Provence is located 16.3 km (10.3 mi) to the east-southeast of Marseille. Camp de Carpiagne, the garrison for the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment and formerly 1st-11th Cuirassier armoured (tank) regiment of the French Army, is found in the town's western part, as well as with territory in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille, Aubagne and Cassis, north of the renowned road from Marseille to Cassis.
