Temple Newsam (historically Temple Newsham, grid reference SE357322) is a Tudor-Jacobean house in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, with grounds landscaped by Capability Brown. The estate lends its name to the Temple Newsam ward of Leeds City Council, in which it is situated, and lies to the east of the city, just south of Halton Moor, Halton, Whitkirk and Colton. It is one of nine sites in the Leeds Museums & Galleries group. The house is a Grade I listed building, defined as a "building of outstanding or national architectural or historic interest". The stables are Grade II* listed ("particularly significant buildings of more than local interest"), and ten separate features of the estate are Grade II listed ("buildings of special architectural or historic interest"), including the Sphinx Gates and the Barn. Temple Newsam House is one of Leeds Museums and Galleries sites. It is also part of the research group, Yorkshire Country House Partnership.

St Wilfrid's Church, Halton was designed by Albert Randall Wells and built between 1937 and 1939. It is situated in the 1930s suburb of Halton in Leeds, England. The site on Halton Hill was given by Viscount Halifax and the building was paid for by Sir John Priestman. The foundation stone was laid on 6 November 1937. The church is Grade II* listed. It bridges the gap between the Arts and Crafts style and modernism. It has Early English gothic inspired details, such as the triangular-headed windows. The concrete vaulting within the interior in Nikolaus Pevsner's words "remind one of German Expressionism in recent church architecture rather than that of England".The church was built at a cost of £11,700. It still has many of the original fittings designed by Wells as well as contemporary art by Eric Gill. Congregational seating was made by Edward Gardiner who, earlier, had a partnership with Ernest Gimson.

In the past signwriters have been unsure as to the correct spelling of Cross Gates, with "Cross Gates" on the westbound platform and "Crossgates" on one sign on the eastbound platform. As of 2010, only the "Cross Gates" spelling is shown, and this is also the version used by National Rail Enquiries.

Manston and Pendas Fields are also generally regarded as part of Cross Gates. It serves as an important transport hub for the nearby large housing estates of Seacroft, Whinmoor and Gipton. At the 2011 census, Cross Gates had a population of 7,770, situated in the Cross Gates & Whinmoor ward of Leeds City Council with a population of 22,099.

Leeds East Academy (formerly Parklands Girls High School) is a secondary school with academy status, in the Seacroft area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The school was previously an all-girls school, being the last single-sex school in Leeds. Parklands Girls High School was particularly small for an urban secondary school with only around 350 pupils; it was this which suggested to Leeds City Council that segregated education was no longer popular and prompted them to make it a mixed school and it was renamed Parklands High School.The school is now an academy and has a partnership with Leeds West Academy and Leeds City Academy as part of The White Rose Academies Trust. Leeds West and Leeds East Academies were previously sponsored by E-ACT, however in 2014 the schools joined the White Rose Academies Trust with Leeds City College as their sponsor. The Trust are now part of the Luminate Education Group, which also oversees Leeds City College, Keighley College, and Harrogate College. The school moved to new buildings in April 2013.

Temple Newsam lies directly south of the estate. The area falls within the Temple Newsam ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds East parliamentary constituency. The small Whitkirk Lane End estate (which is situated between Colton Road and Colton Roundabout) is often considered more part of the Colton district than Whitkirk, because of its separation from Whitkirk via Selby Road, and its proximity to Colton Road.

Austhorpe is a civil parish and residential suburb of east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is 5 miles (8.0 km) to the east of city centre and close to the A6120 dual carriageway (Leeds Outer Ring Road) and the M1 motorway.
