Lakeside Woods is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Sherman, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the southern part of the town, on the western shore of Candlewood Lake. It is bordered to the north by the main village of Sherman. Lakeside Woods was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Pootatuck State Forest is a Connecticut state forest located mainly in the town of New Fairfield with a small fraction in Sherman. Recreational activities include hiking, mountain biking, letterboxing, hunting, birdwatching, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. The main forest property borders on and can be accessed via trails from the adjacent Squantz Pond State Park.There are two smaller Pootatuck State Forest property parcels in New Fairfield, Connecticut near to but disconnected from the main property and Squantz Pond State Park. The Western Pootatuck State Forest parcel is located north of Beaver Bog Road just west of the intersection of Beaver Bog Road and Short Woods Road. Squantz Pond is a 288-acre lake in Fairfield County, Connecticut. It is located on the town line of Sherman and New Fairfield, and is bordered by manmade Candlewood Lake. The south shore is protected as Squantz Pond State Park (established in 1926), and is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The pond is named for Chief Squantz, a leader of the Schaghticoke tribe.

Inglenook is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of New Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the northeast part of the town, atop a broad peninsula in Candlewood Lake. It is bordered to the east by Sail Harbor and to the north by the town of Sherman. Inglenook was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Pond Mountain is a summit in New Fairfield, Connecticut. It is located within the confines of Pootatuck State Forest. Pond Mountain was originally part of the lands of the Schaghiticoke tribe. It was an area of significance during the sachemship of Squantz, leader of the Potatuck until his death circa 1725. Council Rock, located on Pond Mountain, was an important vantage point and meeting place for the tribe. Pond Mountain and Council Rock are accessible by hikers from Squantz Pond State Park.

Sail Harbor is a census-designated place (CDP) in the towns of New Fairfield and Sherman, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the northeast corner of New Fairfield and the southeast corner of Sherman, on Great Neck and Shelter Harbor, landforms on the west side of Candlewood Lake. It is bordered to the west by Inglenook. Sail Harbor was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Squantz Pond State Park is a public recreation area located 10 miles (16 km) north of Danbury in the town of New Fairfield, Connecticut. The state park encompasses 172 acres (70 ha) on the southwestern shore of 270-acre (110 ha) Squantz Pond, offering opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking. The park is bordered on the west by Pootatuck State Forest and is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Sherman School is a school district and public elementary and middle school of Sherman, Connecticut. It opened in 1937 as a consolidation of various schools; the community voted to consolidate on April 18, 1936.

It covers an 85-acre (34 ha) historic district area centered on the junction of Connecticut Routes 37 and 39, and consists mostly of residential structures, some of them dating to not long after the town's incorporation in 1740. Notable buildings include the 1837 Greek Revival Center Church (now used as a performance space), the 1886 Old Town Hall, and the 1926 Colonial Revival library building.: 14 The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The town was formed in 1802 from the northern part of New Fairfield. It is named for Roger Sherman, the only person who signed all four founding documents of the United States of America. Sherman is a popular weekend retreat for New York City residents, with about a third of its residents weekenders. The town is located 62 miles (100 km) northeast of New York City, making it part of the New York metropolitan area.Sherman has one area on the National Register of Historic Places: the Sherman Historic District, bounded roughly by the intersection of Old Greenswood Road and Route 37, northeast past the intersection of Route 37 East and Route 39 North and Sawmill Road. The district was added to the National Register on August 31, 1991. Sherman is the only town in Fairfield County in the 860 area code; the remainder of the county is served by the area code 203/area code 475 overlay.
