The Theater St. Gallen is a performing arts center for opera, musical, ballet, and theatre in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and considered to be the oldest professional theatre in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.Although the monks Tutilo and Notker already inspired briefly lay theatre in St. Gallen during the Middle Ages, theatre did not flourish for a long time because of moral concerns. In the early 19th century interest in theatre was reawakened. After the first performance on October 14, 1801 in modest surroundings, a "Theater Stock Company" was founded in 1805 to support a local professional theatre group. When they needed a larger place for their performances, the architect Johann Christoph Kunkler built a theater into which the group moved in 1857. This "Kunkler-Bau" remained the home of the formerly called Stadttheater St. Gallen for 111 years until 1968. The building was then demolished. The current building was designed by the Swiss architect Claude Paillard and inaugurated with Beethoven's Fidelio on March 15, 1968. The building houses two stages, the larger one allows 742 persons and the studio 100 persons to attend. With the construction of the new building, the stock company was replaced by a consortium with participation of the town of St. Gallen and its canton. Surrounding communities thereafter joined in the venture. The "Genossenschaft Konzert und Theater St. Gallen" ("Cooperative for concert and theatre of St. Gallen") is since 2000 the supporting organization for the orchestre and theatre of St. Gallen. The "Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen" therefore provides orchestral support for operas and musicals. Each year about 20 new productions are introduced. Among them, in 2009, the theater featured the world premiere of The Count of Monte Cristo, a musical by Frank Wildhorn. The theatre's 390 annual performances are seen by about 140,000 attendees.

The St. Gallen State Archive (German: Staatsarchiv des Kantons St. Gallen) is the archive for the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Since the canton was founded in 1803, it has preserved the records relating to the cantonal authorities, the cantonal administration and the institutions of the state. It also contains records from the legal predecessors of today's canton. Organisationally, the State Archive is part of the Department of the Interior, located in the Office of Culture.

Wegelin & Co. is a now-defunct bank that was located in St. Gallen in the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and specialized in private banking and asset management.Founded by Caspar Zyli in 1741, the company was renamed Wegelin & Co. in 1893. The bank's legal name changed multiple times by incorporating the names of the senior personally liable partners. As of 2013, the bank's name was Wegelin & Co. Privatbankiers, Gesellschafter Bruderer, Hummler, Tolle & Co. At the time of its closing, it was the oldest bank in Switzerland and the 13th oldest in the world.

Notenstein La Roche Private Bank was a Swiss private bank headquartered in St. Gallen and CHF 16.8 billion of client assets under management. The private bank, which had belonged to Raiffeisen (Switzerland) since 2012, was sold to Bank Vontobel in July 2018 and was fully integrated into that banking group as of 30 September 2018.

The Hofflügel, located in St. Gallen, Switzerland, is the episcopal residence of the Diocese of St. Gallen. The Baroque-style building was constructed in 1666–1667 as the residence of the Abbot of the Abbey of St. Gallen. As part of the Abbey district, the building was included in the UNESCO list of protected World Heritage Sites in 1983.

Tonhalle St. Gallen is a concert hall in St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is a cultural centre, a venue for concerts, banquets and meetings. It is the home of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra.

The St. Gallus Chapel is a chapel within the abbey complex of Saint Gall. It was rebuilt in 1666/67 on the ground floor of the residence of the prince-abbot. It was consecrated in 1671 in conjunction with the Bishop's chapel (German: Bischofskapelle) above it.The chapel has an approximately square interior. The walls and ceiling are filled with 26 paintings depicting the life of saint Gall, presumably created by Johann Sebastian Hersche. There are two larger than life size statues next to the entrance, depicting Saint Maurice and Desiderius of Vienne. In the year 971, the Abbot Purchart von Udalrichingen had a chapel built in the same spot. Purchart was buried next to its entrance in 975 by the bishop Conrad of Constance.The St. Gallus Chapel, along with the St. Gallen Cathedral, serves as a baptistery of the St. Gallen Cathedral parish.

Kunstmuseum St. Gallen (English: Art Museum St. Gallen), is a Swiss art museum founded in 1877 and located in St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is an important museum within Eastern Switzerland because of their expansive European art collection.

The Abbey of Saint Gall (German: Abtei St. Gallen) is a dissolved abbey (747–1805) in a Catholic religious complex in the city of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The Carolingian-era monastery existed from 719, founded by Saint Othmar on the spot where Gallus had erected his hermitage. It became an independent principality between 9th and 13th centuries, and was for many centuries one of the chief Benedictine abbeys in Europe. The library of the Abbey is one of the oldest monastic libraries in the world. The city of St. Gallen originated as an adjoining settlement of the abbey. The abbey was secularized around 1800, and in 1848 its former church became a Cathedral. Since 1983 the abbey precinct has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Stiftskirche St. Gallus und Otmar (Collegiate Church of St. Gall and Otmar) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Part of the Abbey of St. Gall, it has been the cathedral of the Diocese of St. Gallen since 1847.Completed in 1767, the cathedral was designed by Peter Thumb, who also designed the Abbey's famous library. Among its rich decorations are frescoes painted mostly by Josef Wannenmacher, and the most complete set of historic church bells in Switzerland. The south altar features a bell brought back by Saint Gall himself from Ireland, one of the three oldest surviving bells in Europe.

Säntis was the name of a canton of the Helvetic Republic from 1798 to 1803, consisting of the territory of St. Gallen, Appenzell, and Rheintal. Its capital was St. Gallen.

St. Gallen Marktplatz station, also called Marktplatz/Bohl, is a railway station in the city of St. Gallen, in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is located on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) Appenzell–St. Gallen–Trogen line of Appenzell Railways (Appenzeller Bahnen, AB), and is served by local light rail trains only. The station is also a bus stop for local and regional buses.
