The Chula Vista Bayfront is a planned development on the San Diego Bay waterfront within Chula Vista, California, United States. The bayfront is undergoing major development under the project title Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan, one of the largest waterfront planning efforts in the United States.

The Living Coast Discovery Center is an environmental education center with marine animal, animal and bird exhibits located in the Sweetwater Marsh Unit of the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista, California. Permanent displays at the Living Coast focus on native animals and plants found in Southern California and San Diego Bay.

The Chula Vista City Hall is the seat of the government of the city of Chula Vista, California. The city hall was built in 1923 on Third Avenue in the recently incorporated city, and it served the city until it was replaced by a new structure in 1951. The city hall initially also served as the headquarters for the fire and police departments. It houses the five members of City Council, which includes the mayor.

The Sweetwater River is a 55-mile (89 km) long stream in San Diego County, California. From its headwaters high in the Cuyamaca Mountains, the river flows generally southwest, first through rugged hinterlands but then into the urban areas surrounding its mouth at San Diego Bay. Its drainage basin covers more than 230 square miles (600 km2), all of it within San Diego County. Towns on the river include Descanso, La Presa and Chula Vista. The term "Sweetwater" is a name often given to freshwater which tastes good in regions where much of the water is bitter to the taste. The Spanish called the river "Agua Dulce", a name they applied to good clear water anywhere they lived.

Chula Vista High School (CVHS) is a public high school located in Chula Vista, California. Founded in 1947, it is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District.

The Vogue Theater is a historic movie theater in downtown Chula Vista, California. It was designed by the Architect Frank Hope Jr. in 1943, and opened on January 19, 1945. The theater is a poured in place concrete building and seats 825. Due to its configuration and stage, the theater has been a venue for several Chula Vista and San Diego political debates by the likes of former San Diego City Mayor Roger Hedgecock, and current Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox.The Vogue Theater operated as a single screen theater for 61 until it closed in 2006. The Vogue Theater was denominated as historical resource by the City for Chula Vista in 2011. On February 20, 2014, Amorphica Design Research Office received permits by the City of Chula Vista to restore and renovate The Vogue Theater back to its original state with other uses to the building.

Options Secondary School (Commonly known as The Portal), is located in Chula Vista, California on the Chula Vista Adult School campus. It is run under the "Alternative Education" division of the Sweetwater Union High School District, which also runs the Independent Studies program. It has a small campus and a low ratio of students to teachers, in some cases, no more than twenty students in a class. The school operates on a bell schedule from 12:10 PM to 6:06 PM, with three periods a day. Period one is from 12:10 to 1:52, followed by a thirty minute lunch period. After this, second period begins at 2:27, and runs until 4:09. After a ten-minute passing period, period three finishes the school day, from 4:19 all the way to 6:06. The school opened with the original mission to cater to those with "individual learning styles", in keeping with its original name, "Sweetwater Academy for Individual Learning Styles." It was designed for those that didn't fit in at other schools, based upon learning plans. In May 2012, it was decided that the name of the school would be changed to "The Portal: A learning community", much to the chagrin of the students. Most students who have attended since before the 2012–2013 school year still refer to the school as "Sails". The district has tried several times to shut the school, to no avail. After Prop 32 passed in November 2012, the district received funds from taxes to upgrade and renovate campuses, as well as educational technologies. Some form of loophole prevented the school from acquiring grants that other campuses received.

The South Bay Salt Works is a salt factory in Chula Vista, in the South Bay region of San Diego County, California. Initially operating under the name La Punta Salt Works operations dating back to at least 1871, for a period of time it was the sole supplier of salt for Southern California. In 1902 it was purchased and renamed Western Salt Company, and later had narrow-gauge rail installed. During the rest of the 20th century, it was the second largest salt producer in California. The land was purchased by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority in 1999 and transferred to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. In 2000, it assumed its current name, and has continued salt harvesting operations. Water evaporated at the salt works comes from the Pacific Ocean. Since its inception, more than a million tons of salt has been harvested. The salt ponds are a stopping point for migratory birds; some of these birds are threatened or endangered. In 2011, two of the works' salt ponds were restored to marshlands.

The Alliance MMA Gym is an American mixed martial arts training facility located in Chula Vista, California and is home to a number of professional mixed martial artists who have found success in organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), Strikeforce and Bellator. The Alliance MMA Gym is one of the top professional MMA training camps.
